I’m curious - if you vacationed more often at WDW (say 3 weeks out of every year in a 2 bedroom) - and wanted an 11-month advantage at a resort close ‘enough’ to EPCOT to complement your VGF, would you feel comfortable buying all those points at BWV?
3 weeks every year in a 2BD? I’d probably go BC became they have the dedicated 2BD and with BW you always have to get a lock off. The prices on the larger BCV contracts are also more reasonable than the smaller ones.

I tried to get BC points, but we wanted a small contract and BC owners at the time thought their points were dipped in gold…. I also had a more experienced DVCer,
who owns BCV, council me that unless my family absolutely loves pools to go with the less expensive BWV.

I say this as an owner of BWV - it is by far my favorite DVC property - but there’s no way I would feel comfortable purchasing that quantity of points in 2025. My point is that it’s a little easier to say ‘never’ to RIV if you’re visiting for a few nights or every other year.
Very true, especially our plan of once every 3 years…..

However, I don’t know if we will own any DVC points in FL by the end of 2025…. we shall see how our trip in 2 weeks goes….

I hear ya. I didn’t add up the points but I am in the market for more BWV points. ;)

If this were me: I would buy at Poly, book there at 11 months and attempt to 7 month in to Beach Club. Worst case, you take the monorail to Epcot.

Skyliner is absolutely out for our family (no fear of heights; I just dislike the stops and starts and lack of knowing when you will arrive, plus the issues with inclement weather). We will bus over Skyliner whenever possible.

What’s that all about??
Now I’m curious how your next trip goes. lol
Well… we could have booked all of the rooms we will be staying in @7m… so my wife is asking why we need to keep the points and pay the dues if our Aulani points will work just fine…. She is also a Southern Californian who finds most things about FL and WDW to be subpar compared to her beloved Disneyland.

Bingo. I love the whole Tiki vibe!

My wife says we can visit while staying at VGF, but “why would we ever need to stay there when we go to Aulani almost every year…”

BCV seems like it would be more “quiet”… and that is definitely more of my wife’s vibe. It’s one of the many things we love about the DVC wing of VGC.

Absolutely! And I would rebuy in 2042 somewhere else or have moved on to other kinds of vacations...

Over 3 weeks the points savings per night would really become substantial...

I had three and am signing the deed today to sell the third. Two is enough to handle for me! lol. I will 7 months in and hope for the best when I want to stay elsewhere. Or I’ll just stay at my 2 home resorts and call it good!
Tbf we do so many last minute trips (literally booked one last week for 2 weeks from now lol) that it really would’ve made sense to just buy SAP + RIV but with me moving out to California and having less ability to book last minute trips now, home resort priority will actually be important now.

I would be thinking about transferring to west coast DVC points then…west coast to Florida is a haul.

I got some points there. But I'll only be around 50 when they expire, so I needed some others that last longer. If I want to downsize I can let my BWV expire in 2042 and not buy anything to replace it. Or rebuy somewhere new that has opened since then or get BCV if they resell contracts

BTW…. I am rolling out the red carpet as much as I feasibly can for this trip. (No VIP, LLPP, or V&A or MP dining).

After hours hard ticket events at MK and HS.

ADRs at Flying Fish, Brown Derby, Cake Bake Shop, Citricos, Tiffins, Narcoossees, Topolinios….

BWV GV and VGF Lake View 2BD….

…. But it looks like it could be 90 degrees and if it’s impossible to book LL’s even with Standby Skipper (which BTW pre booking everything is awful if you live on the West Coast) or if it’s ridiculously crowded…

Only so much I can do….

Welcome to the Best Coast!

I don’t really like DLR enough to buy points there tbh. Besides, I live like 25 mins away now so it’s just a local park for me now. Aulani is likely next on the list to buy (not that we’ve been but I already know I’m going to love it lol) but I can book most of the times we’re looking at 7mos so maybe don’t need it. We’re likely going to do 1-2 longer trips to WDW now so we’ll still need our points there.

Going for a “day trip” to DL vs staying on site….. 1000% different experiences….

True, we did a one night stay at VGC last year and it was good but it’s just not as much of a vacation vibe. We did everything we wanted in a day and a half. Didn’t make sense for us to stay longer tbh. I know you don’t really care for WDW and as far as the Floridian thing goes, I get it. I wish I could pickup WDW and plant it somewhere else lol but we pretty much only stay on property and I love the WDW bubble. DLR just doesn’t come close to that as compact and pretty as it is.
