Roethlisberger Walked.........ugh!

According to the DA there wasn't enough evidence. Even prior to the DA's announcement , the accuser would not return phone calls to the DA and decided not to go forward.

:thumbsup2

Right there wasn't enough evidence to prove there was ever any assault or rape.

come on...I think you may be smarter than you think.

His job is to quarterback a football team. He should be disciplined for what happens on the field. He doesn't have a contract with the league, he has a contract with the Steelers. The league shouldn't have any say in suspensions that don't involve on-field actions.

So what did Roethlisberger do exactly? I heard on the radio he got suspended 6 games or something.

come on...I think you may be smarter than you think.

oh I guess serving time in prison during football season doesn't count....let me call Pb see his thoughts too.

oh no, Ben is not at fault....at all, not his problem to properly id the gals ---(what if it were your kids, would be oh ALL OK with it?>))...but WHEN HE GETS HIS BG TO MAN THE BATHROOM DOORS....big no no.

No serving time in prison does not count. Why should it? That was a court appointed punishment not one handed down by the NFL.

According to the NFL, Vick was suspended for 2 games.

Its always what if it were your kids? It wasn't my kids, period!

Why did she go back with the BG in the first place? He didn't take her kicking and screaming. She admitted to going with him with no resistence. Did she think Ben wanted to play cards? Give me a break. These girls know what these guys are after. I've seen it. It wasn't that long ago that I used to see the Steelers and Penguins in local bars all the time when I was out with my gf's. Its nothing new. Buy the girls drinks , have some fun. Its not just celebrities , every day Joe's do it.

I'm not saying he's not a pig, he is and he needs to get some help, lose the arrogance , and grow up, but for someone who wasn't convicted of anything, six games is ridiculous. As I said, let's see what the Colts player gets.

Wasn't going to comment, but I've changed my mind and decided to put my two cents in. I've always been a Steeler fan. Was born near there, but we moved away when I was 13 so I may have missed a few years of sports "news/drama", but here is my take on the whole thing (including Santonio).

The Steelers (at least in my mind) have always been a step above the other teams not only in playing ability, but also how the team conducted their self off the field. I never felt like if I had a child that looked up to a sports player/star, I would be embarrassed that it was one of the Steelers. I can't remember hearing stuff about team members previously (at least nothing to this extent and not like you did other teams). I think Ben has brought embarrasment to the team and should be punished for it. (I also think Santonio and that tool Reed did the same thing, but so far only one of them has been punished.:headache:) This has changed the dynamics of the team and made it all about an individual player instead of about the team. I have always felt like the Steelers were a team that respected each other, were all equal, and would not do stuff either on or off the field to change that.

I agree that if Ben, and I assume he does, has an off-field conduct clause in his contract the STEELERS should discipline him for that violation. The league should have no say in this matter as it didn't involve any incidents that happened in a game.

What cave do you live in :confused3

EVERY PLAYER signs "The Personal Conduct Policy" Goodell wrote yesterday "The Personal Conduct Policy makes clear that I may impose discipline 'even where the conduct does not result in conviction of a crime' as, for example, where the conduct 'imposes inherent danger to the safety and well being of another person,'"

Many employers can fire you for having drugs in your system, doesn't matter if you did it on the job or not.

Rapistberger may have gotten away with it this time, but next time I hope it isnt someone you know - AND there will be a next time, he has a problem.

I don't live in a cave, I know that there is that policy otherwise this wouldn't have happened. No need to take a shot because you don't agree with what I'm saying.

I'm saying they should have no say in the matter. The players don't work for the NFL, they work for whatever team they have a contract with. If that team wants to undertake discipline measures, they should be able to.

And how do you know he got away with something? Were you there? The only people who know are the two people involved. Why is he guilty and she isn't? Until someone proves it, we don't know.

I agree and feel the same way. There is a lot of pride in Pittsburgh, not only for the team and the Superbowl wins, but for the way the Rooneys' run the organization. I am anxious to see what happens today in the draft and I really hope they trade Ben. Personally I don't care how good of a QB Ben is, I don't want players like that on the team. I hate to see the Steelers lose or have bad seasons as much as the next fan, but if this is what we have to put up with to win, I don't want it. I don't want to see the team or the Rooney's sell out on their values just for the sake of great players. I'd rather have a bad season then do that. The Steelers will bounce back, always have, always will.

Do you not think the Steelers are behind and in agreement with Goodell's actions? I do. The only lousy thing in it is that the Rooneys' got hit with a 200K fine as well.

For his behavior and the embarrassment he brought to his team, teammates and the city of Pittsburgh. I'm not disputing he made some stupid decisions that night and thats what he apologized for.

That's my point. The Steelers and the NFL don't have to put up with it. It tarnishes the game and the "brand".

I have no doubt they are but you're not getting my point.

It should be up to them, not the NFL. The Steelers are the employer and should be responsible for the disciplining the actions of their employees. If the employment contract contains provisions for the personal activities of a player, that player better live up to them. The Steelers are members of the NFL. IF they don't live up to the constitution of the league, then they should be punished by the league. The players are not employees of the league.

I do understand what you're saying but the NFL governs the league and both the players and the owners fall under that realm. If any player or owner wants to participate in the league, they need to abide by the code of conduct. Participation is optional. No one is forcing anyone to play or be an owner in the NFL. Ben violated the terms of the league's conduct policy that the league put in place. The league punished him. They also punished the Rooneys' as owner with a fine. The league punished both of them. While I think it stinks that the Rooneys' also got a fine, I understand why they got one.

Again, I know all that. I'm saying that I don't agree with it.

So if he was a skinny hot dude your opinion would change?

I don't think that is what she is saying, LuvCuteBoys. I think maybe she is just commenting on how he has aged. Lifestyle could have a lot to do with that.

I have said before that I'm a Steeler and Ben fan. I think it would be best to trade him. This is a black eye on the Steeler organization. I'm still a Steelers fan and will be cheering them on though.

Not sure he'd want to be on the sign in the first place!

Lemieux replaces Roethlisberger at zooEmail Print Comments 255Share retweet 104ESPN.com news services

PITTSBURGH -- Disgraced Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been traded for NHL Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux -- at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.

Roethlisberger's name has been replaced with Lemieux's on a display that compares the height of elephants with other creatures.

Zoo spokeswoman Tracy Gray says some zoo visitors had expressed concerns about Roethlisberger's name on the display. She says Lemieux, the retired Pittsburgh Penguins star and team owner, is well-known and approximately the same height as Roethlisberger, about 6-foot-5.

"Mr. Roethlisberger isn't the most popular person lately," Tracy Gray, manager of public and media relations, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The NFL has suspended Roethlisberger up to six games for his actions at a Georgia nightclub where a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault last month. Roethlisberger wasn't charged with any crime.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
