We decided to do a spur of the moment get away (a whopping 30min from our home) this past weekend. Since it was a weekend get away and not a vaca, per say, we decided to cheap out and stay at a bargain hotel.

We chose Rodeway Inn for their price and proximity to the Mickey & Friends parking garage. Needless to say, we will never stay there again. We knew it would be dated and far from luxury, but it was a bit much for us to stomach even with our low expectations.

First off, all the little repairs done are really poorly done and further detract from the overall appearance. The beds are rock hard. Honestly, we might be slighted in our opinion since we are pampered with a tempur-pedic at home, but we never knew a mattress could be as hard as the floor and that's no exaggeration. Parking was at a premium, not for lack of parking spaces but for extremely tight lanes to maneuver in. Add in the fact that it appears there are residents at the hotel and it plummets from there. There was a muscle car on blocks, in disrepair, blocking parking in what is already a very tight corner at the parking lot. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was extremely noisy, as if hte fan blades were touching the housing and out of balance. the other light switch in the bathroom worked but the fixture put out some weird kind of noise. we couldn't figure out if that was an exhaust fan as well or not. Toilet paper was at a premium. they did not provide wash cloths, only towels. the light fixture over the sink was intermittent in it's operation. Several floor tiles in the bathroom were cracked and the drywall repair in the bathroom left a lot to be desired. One oddity was that the shower walls were dripping wiht condensation each morning, before we ran our shower. i understant that a cold clammy tile wall, especially on an exterior wall can condensate but it seemed more than that.

The real deal breaker for us was when we came back from a day out on Saturday. there were 6 cruisers with lights flashing by the secondary entrance to the hotel and 2 more cruisers in the parking lot. it was at the tale end of the commotion so we didn't get to see what the fuss was about. i did ask oneof hte officers if anything happened that we as guests needed to be concerned about. later on that evening, the party began. We assume it was hotel residents, a party ran for about 4 hours late into the night with teh music pounding. Luckily we were so tired that we didn't really care and we fell asleep anyway.

On the upside, the rooms were decent sized with microwave and fridge.

in the end, we got what we paid for, a $45 room and all that goes along with it at that price point.

I hope you posted your review on trip advisor. Were you able to walk to the parking structure allright? I considered this motel when in my wee stages of trip planning for the last trip but reviews on trip advisor discouraged me.

The old axom really is true. My sanity and and other guests sanity warrent a bit better place to stay. I did not know MA was 1/2 hour away.

Thanks for the review! For future reference, the super 8 on katella is often about $50/night and although it's not the hyatt, it is certainly SO much nicer than the place you stayed at. :)

:rotfl:

your right, it's not. we now live in SoCal, i just never changed my profile info.

How was the walk to the Mickey & Friends parking structure??

Dunno, we didn't walk to the parking structure. We have parking included on DW's annual pass.

I suppose it would be fine. It measure out to be about 1/4mi on google earth from hotel to trams.

Also, DW has a heart condition so we conserve steps where possible.

Sorry to hear about your less than stellar stay at the Rodeway Inn -- sounds like a scary place. For your future quick budget trips, try using Priceline.com's Name Your Own Price. You can get a decent 3* hotel for about $45/night.

Sorry, I misunderstand the reasoning for:

We wanted to be close to Mickey & Friends parking structure and chose to drive to Mickey & Friends rather than walk, since DW has a heart condition, as previously stated. Not sure why that is confusing.

We got this hotel through hotwire.com, and will be staying there in a few weeks. Did you have problems with bed bugs?

I was also wondering aout the walk to the parking structure. It looks very close but I heard that the parking lot right behind the hotel is for cast members. Do you think we'd be able to cut through there to get to the structure?

Anyone else have any experience at this hotel?

If you go to google maps you can 'walk' the route. I've followed reviews for the motel just out of curiosity (and the fact that you can get a jacuzzi room for a ridiculous price) and they had bedbugs a few years ago but took care of the problem. I think they have a continental breakfast but woudn't count on much as it is an Indian motel....(yeah I know not pc but in my many experiences very cheap--very cheap) there is a jacuzzi.

I just wanted to update this thread with our experience at Rodeway Inn. It was the cheapest motel we could find, and not very far at all. At first we thought we could just cut across a small parking lot and get to the Mickey and Friends structure, but that parking lot is for cast members only and is guarded. We ended up walking East across Ball Rd. and then walked south on Disneyland Dr. The first day we walked all the way to the front gate, I would say it only took about 10-15 minutes. The next day we took one of the trams as we passed the Mickey and Friends structure, it probably took the same amount of time but at least we got to rest our feet. So all in all, it was a good deal for the proximity and the price. Continental breakfast was non-existant but there was free parking and free wireless internet. Worth it in our opinion (but we're also cheapskates! :) )
