After spending October 30 and 31st at DL, my DS14 and DS11 and I decided to be at DCA for rope drop to ride Toy Story Midway Mania on Saturday, November 1st, at 10am. We got a fastpass for Soarin' and waited for the rope drop with quite a few other people....maybe 200. When the rope dropped a lot of kids and some adults ran to the ride. My sons walked fast and I tried to keep up. DS14 and DS11 waited for me on the bridge to Paradise Pier where we joined the line forming to the right as we descended past California Screamin'. We were about 50 people from the front.

We rode the ride and loved it and figured we would spend the rest of the day between Screamin' and TSMM. I asked the CM if the single rider line would open and he responded "We haven't opened it all week...." I was bummed, but hoped he was just being cautious in case the single rider line didn't open.

We got fastpasses for Screamin' and rode it standby. It was a walk on. We went back to TSMM and stood in the standby line. We waited about 25 minutes. At this point we decided to do ToT, lunch, and Soarin'.

After lunch we returned to TSMM and the single rider line was open! We asked the same CM if we could enter the single rider line and he said "The single rider wait is 45 minutes to an hour...see that lady there she hasn't moved...the standy line is only 35 minutes." We were discouraged. I was thinking the CM was just trying to encourage me to get in the standby line isntead. We watched for a bit and I didn't see much movement....my sons decided they'd go use our six fast passes for GRR and get soaked and I sent them over there. I decided to brave the single rider line for TSMM and see what happened so I could report back to the DIS....

In the next 90 minutes, I rode TSMM 5 times...never waiting more than 10 minutes in the single rider line. It was fun! When my kids made their way back to TSMM (not as wet as I thought they'd be), we all stood in the single rider line and rode again. No more than 10 minutes. Standby line was still 35 minutes.

The next day, Sunday November 2nd, we were the first to ride Matterhorn (twice) at DL when the park opened at 8am for MM. We then rode Nemo with a 10 minute wait. Later we were at DCA for rope drop again and my sons walked as fast as they could (CMs were monitoring closer and it was raining) and got to the ride first to be escorted to the front of the line. I was about 30 people back. There were a lot less people for rope drop. We monitored the line until 1pm or so and they never opened the single rider line. Standby line was always 30+ minutes.

I think the ride is a "Do Not Miss" and I like it a lot more than Buzz...and I really like Buzz.

Hint: Don't forget to pick up your 3-D glasses when you get in the single rider line. They usually hand them to you. About the third time I went through the single rider line, they needed a lot of single riders all at once and I didn't get a pair before I got on the ride. They had to delay a bit to get me a pair and they weren't very happy about it. As a single rider you need to be ready to go where you are directed. The intent is to fill up each car completely, but not delay loading.

Oh I so wish they had the SR line open when I went yesterday!

"The intent is to fill up each car completely, but not delay loading."

That is probably the BEST description of the purpose of the single rider line I've ever met.

There were SO many odd numbered families being boarded, it was so silly to not have the SR line.

Pretending that I wasn't on my own yesterday and was instead in an odd numbered group, I rode alone. I surely could have had some single riding person next to me, and then one more person could have enjoyed the ride in the same time period. In my opinion it just makes no sense to have the SR capability but not use it.

Oh and I loved the ride too! If I hadn't already been dealing with what felt like a concussion from all the "thrill" rides I went on, and could handle the sharp turns and half spins that TSMM does, and if the SR line had been open (line said 20 minutes but it was more like 30 if not longer) I would have gone on again and again, it was that much fun for me. :goodvibes

We loved that SRL!!! Our family used it twice in a row, then they shut it down. :( Probably because we were not using it correctly.....haha
