Rode Mission Space yesterday...great ride!

Heard all kinds of comments about Mission Space ranging from "make you vomit" to "not very thrilling visual effects".

Rode it the day before Thanksgiving, using a fast pass, the regular line was about an hour long.

Was starting to get dizzy during the ride fortunately did not lose it. I would say that Mission Space just hit my limit.

"Just for fun" I pushed the buttons when I was not supposed to. Earlier a cast member said that pushing the buttons did not alter the ride behavior or sequence. My arm felt heavy from the gravity effect. When I got off I was slightly disoriented. Was able to walk down the corridor to the other exhibits and then had to sit down for a few minutes.

I would say that the visual effects were not really spectacular and that it was the motion that was supposed to make most of the thrill. The visual effects reminded me of what used to be in a look down into circular center video screen in the Extra Terrorestrial ride which was either Mission to the Moon or Mission to Mars way back when. (That screen was not visible when the ride was made into Extra Terrorestrial.)

Given that there are four of those centrifuges in Mission Space I would like to see one of them operated as a slower less gravity force "chicken centrifuge" for folks who are more queasy.

Those intense commercials are Disneys way of competing with the wild rides at Universal. For those with fear or doubt, try it once, keep focused, if youre to focused and miss your cue doing your job, dont worry. The computer will override and takeover your job. My DW, DS and MIL rode without a 4th person onboard. The computer did the job for the missing person.
IMHO I would be more concerned about "losing my lunch" on Space Mt than Mission Space. Granted the two feelings are different, but Mission Space is so much smoother.
Remember, stay focused on the screen and the mission and youy should be OK. Oh, and Have Fun:)

I guess it really does depend on the person. I wonder what percent of people who don't have preconceived notions of how they might feel actually feel ill? The warnings do seem excessive.

We went on without fast passes one morning last week. It wasn't too long of a wait (maybe 20-30 minutes?) but as my 4 yo said, after hearing the warning for the umpthteen time, "ok, ok, we get the picture" - cracked me up. The first time I rode I couldn't tell we were spinning even though I had seen the video of the capsules spinning...even though I DIDN'T look straight ahead - I was looking at DS-4yo making sure he was okay and helping him press his buttons (he was a little afraid of not getting them pressed ;) ).

We rode walk-on, no wait at all, at several other times during our stay, in the evening. Once it was just DD and me in our capsule. I freaked out DD because I was flipping all kinds of switches and pushing all kinds of buttons before we took off. She didn't like that. ;)

I do have to tell you that I was terribly dizzy the day after we came home. I guess it was from the plane or else from sitting still for the first time in 8 days

Laura

p.s. None of my crew had a problem but the 4yo didn't want to ride again - he much preferred test track.

That lagging dizziness is the result of brain trauma. Didn't you hear the warnings?? ;) :duck:
