Does anyone know anything about Roctel Enhanced Services? I had a $16.63 charge on my homephone bill for a 'privacy plus voicemail monthly fee'. I had no idea who or what they were. I called my phone company demanding the charge be removed from my phone bill, but AT&T said they couldn't remove it and I would have to contact the 1-800 number that was listed on my bill under 'enhanced services'. When I finally got in touch with Roctel they said it was a special promotion they had going and I had filled out a survey and applied for a voice mail box on 04/02/06. There is no way I did this. I don't fill out surveys for one thing and I don't want or need a voice mail box for another. (I have one on my cellphone of course and at my job). Roctel has my name, address, phone number, and even my e-mail address. They told me I had to pay the charge for this month, but they would have the phone company credit my account (may take a couple of billing cycles to get it though). I live alone, so have no family that would have done it. How could they have gotten my information? I can't believe some company can add a monthly charge to your phone bill without your approval and your phone company can't/won't take the charge off.
