***ROCKSTAR: Supernova*** (spoilers welcome)

Jumping into the thread. . .

I thought Toby was a much better fit for the band--his voice, persona, writing ability, looks.

When Lukas sang that song tonight (the new Supernova one) I just kept hearing Toby sing it the first time. I just am not impressed with Lukas at all.

But you know what? That is why there is chocolate and vanilla ice cream. not eveyone will like the same things. Good luck to Lukas and Supernova. I will listen to them on the radio, but will buy Ryan "Dark Horse" Star's music as well as Toby Rands.



Ps I dont know what I think about Dilana. Sometimes I liked her and sometimes I really did not.

I am really glad that I did not preorder a cd or buy those $100.00 tickets in Orlando a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't pay for Lukas for anything. I can't understand him, he looks like a munchkin (although I know he is not that short...it must be the way he dresses) and the same look everytime, could he just once come out not looking like a cross between a man and a woman, and that tongue he sticks out all the time reminds me of a lizard! His whole look creeps me out.......at least if SuperNova (or what ever they will be called) or I should say when SuperNova flops Lukas can get a job selling lip gloss on tv! Any of the other 3 I would have gladly paid to see...........and especially the house band, but the choice of Lukas really killed it for me, thank goodness Tommy Lee also has another gig!

Oh man! come on. I could understand him just fine, the songs sounded great and he obviously connects with the audience if he had the most votes.

Guy...to each their own. You like him, I don't, Neither DH nor I (or apparently plenty of other people on the DIS board alone) could understand what he was singing. I'm glad you (and dturner, and luvwinnie and whoever else) can because you will be listening to his music. As far as I'm concerned he sounds and looks olike a complete train wreck...but hey, that's just my opinion.

I wonder if Lukas has any other clothes besides the two heinous jackets he always wears. My Nana had both of those jackets (the black and white long ones). Seriously, this guy needs a stylist in a huge way. I could live with the skunk stripe, but the Tammy Faye makeup has to go. He could totally hide his scrawny bod by layering long/short sleev tee's/vests etc. The look he has now is totally repetetive.

I haven't been impressed with Supernova itself so I suppose this is all for the best. I wonder what they'll call themselves now?

I was thinking about this today as I wait for my boss to arrive, and I think that they should go for another celestial name. A supernova is a huge explosion, with lots of energy and brilliant light; perhaps they should call themselves "White Dwarf", which is a fading star, and also a pretty good description for Lukass (I *know* he's not really a little guy, but he still *looks* small on stage, and I thought it was funny when Magni and Toby towered over him).

I think they were afraid Toby and Dilana would outshine them and their ego's couldn't take that.

Howard Stern called Lukas a gnome yesterday. I didn't get to hear his take on last night's show yet, hopefully I can catch it on replay. He did say he did watch. I can't stream at work or I could listen online.

Anyway, you have three old dudes and one guy who looks waaaaay too young for them. And as much as I like Dilana, Magni fits with the House Band better.

I am looking forward to see what Magni, Toby, Dilana and Ryan do!

I just hope that the 3 runner-ups fare better than last years did. Other than what some of the people here on the DIS have posted about Mig and Marty I haven't heard a peep about Jordis or anyone else from that show.

I do believe the Supernova song that Lukas did was the same one that they had Toby sing a few weeks ago. The one that totally sounds like a ripoff of The Offspring.

With them picking Skunkboy I feel totally cheated for having watched this show. The end result is exactly why I don't watch that trainwreck called American Idol. They are never about who is the best singer, just the one people like for reasons other than their ability to sing.

I feel sorry for the people who paid real band like money to watch this spastic mumbler go up on stage and pretend to be a rock star. At least they will be able to see Dilana as the opening act, but I agree that Magni would have been a better fit to front the house band.

And lastly, I think the other three knew they were not getting the gig and were drunk. All three didn't sound as good as usual. Still better than Skunkboy, but a real dud for people who wanted to see them go out with a bang.

And in fact Toby looked like he was ready to jump out of his skin at any moment. He wasn't the normal Toby. And Lukas was smiling from beginning to end like he knew something. He didn't even seem to care when the others were told it was over. Hmm maybe his ego will fit in with the other memebers of the "band to be named".

The fact that he is Canadian is a bonus but not all that important. I do like Lukas, just as I liked some of the others, and apparently so did a lot of other people. Afterall, he did receive the most votes of the final four.

I don't agree that they all knew their fate last night. Dilana, for one looked po'ed when TLee said, "Lukas, you're our boy." I think that there had been enough comments made by three that would have lead them to believe that Lukas was the one they would pick.

I do completely agree with most of you about Magni. He would be a much better fit with the house band than Dilana.


eta: Dilana didn't look happy until Gilby said he would help her make and album.

"Band to be named"? What am I missing here?

This isn't he first time I've felt that the voting may be legit, but the anouncement of the results are totally for show. Making the jump to sports for an analogy - While NFL teams may anounce things officially on Thursday, in most cases those teams have known all week what decision will be made. They have to in order to practice and have things in place when the time comes. I don't believe it's any different with this show. They have to have their act together before they hit the stage and I suspect each week the people were in on it no matter what they tell Brooke to say.

There was a lawsuit filed by a band in California named Superniva and they won their suit. So TLee et al. have to rename the band.

How about the name Stupornova since that is apparently what they were in when they chose Lukas......then they could just say the tickets were misprinted........glad I am not holding one now! Even the morning weather guy down here said something this morning about how he was sucked into this show and was REALLY let down. Although I don't feel that I was let down by the show since there were some really good rockers to watch, I was just let down by their choice, and quite honestly I wish I would have read the spoilers earlier in this thread before I wasted an hour watching this last night.........I could have been dissing on the Dis!

I think the point that the poster was trying to make is based on posts from the day before. DTurner posted the spoiler information from the Tuesday show based ont the fact that the thread is labelled SPOILERS. A couple of other posters then requested that they be posted in white so they wouldn't mistakenly see them. DTurner did edit the post and posted yesterday in white to help people out. The next few posters gave away the spoilers inadvertantly.

the poster was refering to airhead the poster on this thread, and not actually calling anyone an airhead.

And I have to agree with being upset about the spoilers being discussed. dturner very nicely highlighted the spoilers in white so those of us who want to participate in the discussion, since this is the only thread on the show, could avoid the spoilers.
there's a big difference between liking spoilers and hearing about the performances and wanting to know who wins.

For example. I put dturner on ignore temporarily yesterday so I could participate in the conversation about this thread and not be tempted to highlight the spoilers. and yet all efforts were made moot because there were posts openly discussing without labeling the post as a spoiler or typing in white.
