I'm a big chicken when it comes to roller coasters but my DD wants me to ride RNR Coaster with her besides the 2-3 loops is there anything else I need to be aware of. Are there any huge drops? I can deal with the speed but the huge drops I have a problem with.

Thanks

No, there's no Huge drops. The scariest thing for me is the very beginning. You go from 0 to 60 in like one second. the coaster is in the dark, with lots of neon signs. You can see the track, so if control is an issue with you, you should sit in the front so you can see what's coming.

I went down in January with a coasterfobic person and she loved it! It took some doing to get her on it, but after it was done she thanked me and got bought the picture of us on the ride as well as made me take her picture in front of the giant guitar sign. she was very proud of herself and even said that she would ride it next time she goes to Disney.

I say, go for it, you only live once!

I just have to say that I generally despise roller coasters, particularly those with drops (I ride Splash Mountain for DH sake but I hate every minute of it)---however, I got up the courage on our recent trip to ride RNRC, and it is absolutely one of my top 3 favorite WDW rides now!! The first time I rode, I just about had a heart attack from nervousness right before the ride began, but then I laughed through the whole ride. It was just pure fun. There were NO big drops, and no pain or fear involved at all! You don't get jerked or knocked around like you do on most coasters, either--that's a big plus for me! I rode 3 times and can't wait to go again.

Try it!

MAnonsen - thanks for posting this question. I'm a chicken too...and I always make DH ride this solo...but I found out from my SIL that my MIL goes on this ride...so I have to suck it up and learn to like it before December!

I went on it once...didn't like it...I think I was mostly tramautized.
I have NO problems with splash/BTMR. The one thing I do remember from the first time I rode RNRC was that it was very smooth and the only way I knew we were going upside down was when I felt my hair move.

good luck to you!

DS 12 cannot take long drops on any ride, he always tries because he wants to go on with his brother and cousins, but if there is a large drop he feels sick for the rest of the day. Last Feb. he went on Rock 'N Roller Coaster and when the ride was over he couldn't wait to ride it again, no drops! It does have the loops and I think it is one of the smoothest roller coasters I've been on, my friend kept her eyes shut the entire ride and didn't even know she was upside down in the loops.

I am also afraid of "big" coasters. I like the smaller ones (like Space Mtn and Thunder Mtn) but haven't worked up the courage for something like the Hulk at IOA.

I finally worked up the courage a couple of years ago for RNR. There are no drops on RNR and 3 inversions. The launch is very intense. You are accelerated from 0 to 60mph in 2.8 seconds. That is probably the scariest part of the ride, but it's very quick. I'm still a little scared each time I try it, but it is a fun ride.

Does anyone know how long the entire ride lasts? Could I hold my breath that long? Really - no drops????

It 's not a long ride but too long to hold your breath on.

The Travel channel has a show on disney on and they are about to show the rockin roller coaster!! It's 4:30 Eastern time right now.

I love Rock n Rollercoaster.

I am making DH go on it this year. ;)

I HATE rollercoasters! I rode RNRC and I actually liked it. the beginning part, with the G-force I could do without, but the actual ride, loops and all was GREAT!

I hate roller coasters. Splash Mt is probably the biggest drop I can handle, and I rarely will do that ride. I HATE all the big rides like at Universal, I don't like ToT (though I did do it, but never again), I absolutely HATED the big roller coaster at California Adventure in DL (I think it's called California Screamin'). But, RnR is my favorite ride at WDW. It's is just soooo cool. You will love it. If you are an Aerosmith fan you will love it even more. There are no big drops, just the loops, and those aren't bad AT ALL. You've got to try it. The worse part for you will be waiting in line...lol.

Do you like Space Mt? It kinda reminds me a bit of that ride, except it's soooo much cooler! :) If you can handle Space Mt., then you can handle this ride for sure.

Have fun. Let us know how it all went.

Mary

RnR is all about SPEED.... It is so darn fast that you don't have time to think about the twists and turns. It really is a rush.

We did it and I just couldn't take it. Maybe again in a few years. I was suddenly 7 again on the Matterhorn for the first time. I had to keep my eyes closed the entire time and keep reminding myself to breath deeply and listen to the music. I was so shakey when I got off.

Well, maybe I would do it again... second time not so bad?

oh, and NEVER after eating...

if you're over 40 the scariest part is seeing your picture and discovering that when you turned upside down, the back right side up again...your face stayed upside down:tongue:

MY DD has been riding it from age 5, which finally put DH to shame and he rode it and loved it, even though he doesn't like coasters much.

one minute, five seconds

the guy in the seat in front of us timed it. I've never done coasters before - but I was able to deal with R&R. The take-off is the scariest. Very fast, but very do-able. I think I was more scared waiting to get on the ride , then the ride itself. It's fast, but over quick, so try it just to say you did it:teeth:

Do they take the pic when you first take off? That's probably why I looked so freaked out:crazy:

I tried space mountain and did not like it at all. I didn't feel 'secure' in it...felt like i was gonna fall out.

on RNR...i had a DEATH GRIP on that harness...DH had to peel my fingers away and basically carry me off of it.

but I can do TOT (when I psyche myself up for it)...so I'm going to muster up the guts to ride RNRC again next week!

I think honestly the only way to find out if you will like it or not is to give it a shot. For me, the more roller coasters the merrier, and the bigger, the scarier, the BETTER!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

That guy needs a new watch. I have timed it many times and from the take off to the end is between 88 and 91 seconds

Yes, they take your picture right after takeoff as soon as you go into the dark.

There are no drops at all really. Just coming out of the loop. I have talked to many people when they get off the ride that did not even think they went upside down.

I had to tell them they did 3 times 1 loop and 2 corkscrews. That's why they say "Welcome to G-Force Records where we turn the record industry and you UPSIDE DOWN."

Thanks for all of the responses. I think I will give it a try. Did ride on space mtn ONCE when I was in my 20s, I'm now in my mid-thirties. I have also done ToT ONCE with my husband - I think I cut off the circulation in his arm that time and last December I rode Splash Mountain with my DD didn't like the drop. Yes, I'm a big wuss.

I already told my daughter that I would ride with her so now I'm committed to doing it - I just hope that I don't pass out while waiting our turn in line. lol

We will be going the 1st week of Nov. so I have until then to drum up the courage.

Thanks
