Can anyone describe Rockin Roller Coaster for me? I'm wondering how loud and/or intense it would be for my girls. Any comments would be appreciated.

Oh, and if you want to throw in a review for Space Ship Earth, I'd be curious for the same reason.

Thanks!

How old are your girls? I LOVE the ride, but am hesitant to take my youngest (he is 12 but has Down Syndrome). He loves Test Track and Space Mountain. My fear on RnR is that the take off is very loud - both music playing loudly and loud screeching like tires peeling out, plus it is dark. The upside-down loops are relatively mild - you are going so fast you don't really notice them. If they are scared of loud and/or dark, it might not be a good choice. If they don't like TT and/or Space Mountain, they probably wouldn't like RnR.

space ship earth, very mild slow moving ride that goes on a indoor track past scenes of mankind's history. only thing remotely scary could be going "downhill " backwards( can't remember if they changed this though last time we were there) still very slowly. not loud very good
RnR
very fast take of f( keep your head back in the seat rest) fast ride roller coaster in a darkened building( has neon signs ect so not pitch dark, more like a city street at night)at least one inversion. very loud and very very fast. probably should be at somewhat familiar and comfortable on coasters to enjoy this. yipee!

Direct from Disney's website

"Aerosmith's having a backstage party across town and you're invited. Ready to brave the LA freeways? Zoom from 0-60 mph with the force of a supersonic F-14, take in high-speed loops and turns synchronized to a specially recorded Aerosmith soundtrack and zip through Tinseltown in the biggest, loudest limo you've ever seen."

It also at times pulls between 4 and 5 G's. It is intense and it is loud. I love it though.

It will really depend on the age of your kids and how big a thrill seeker they are. Keep your head back on takeoff if you decide to go on it!

Spaceship Earth is very tame and should be enjoyed by all.

Myst

How old are the kids? If they like rollercoasters they should be fine. Take it out of the dark room and turn off the music and it really isn't much of a rollercoaster. If they don't like dark and loud, however, they won't like this ride. The launch might be intimidating. There's always the chicken exit if they get in there and don't like the look of the launch. You can't see the rest of the ride from the loading area (or from anywhere else).

SSE moves veeerrrryyy slllooowwwly past dioramas depicting the history of communication. It's not too dark and isn't very loud. As above, the only even slightly freaky part is when the cars turn on their track and go backwards, but they even do this slowly.

Rock N Roller coaster is totally in the dark. You get into you ride car (aka limo) and the the ride takes off really fast. The music is really loud throughout the ride, and you see neon signs flashing throughout the ride. There are also several loops and twists in this ride. I'm not sure how old your girls are, but I imagine it could be pretty intense for younger children. You also have to be 48 inches to ride. Here's a link to the ride description on Allearsnet : Rock N Roller Coaster

As for Spaceship Earth, it's a pretty mild ride, and I'm sure your girls would love it. You are thinking of the ride in the big silver geosphere in Epcot right (aka golf ball) and not Mission:Space or Space Mountain? Here's a link to info on Spaceship Earth : Spaceship Earth

On those two links, there are also links on the sides of the page that can help you find info about other rides at Disney.

All I know is you really lose your breath when Rockin Rollercoaster takes off..its pretty intense

Rock'nRollercoaster from the time you board it is over in less than a minute! Of course there's a few twists and turns and a little bit of acceleration during that time!

I guess I got Space Ship Earth confused with that one that is like a rocket taking off (the one that the little 4 y/o died on). What's that called? How intense is it for an 8 and 10 y/o?

That is Mission Space, not Spaceship Earth. It doesn't do any weird twists or turns and doesn't even seem to be spinning. All it does is make you feel funny. If you or your kids are prone to motion sickness or have some claustrophobia issues, don't ride it.

spaceship earth is very intense ride. Just the warnings make you sick. It is like the ride at the amusement parks that you spin around, the floor drops and you stick to the wall. However on this ride you are sitting down and have a simulator screen in front of you so you don't really know you are spinning but you still get that feeling where it feels like the skin on your face weighs tons. If you go on this ride you have to make sure you keep your eyes on the screen, you can't close your eyes or look from side to side or you will get sick. Rock n roller coaster is my favorite disney ride. Aerosmith songs blast in your ears and you start off really fast. It is completely dark except for the florescent signs. My only complaint on this ride is it is too, too short. You do go upside down on this ride.

Hold on here, I think you mean Mission:Space not Spaceship Earth.
Mission:Space, very intense.
Spaceship Earth, very slow.
Everybody agree?

wow when did they redo it hehe i thinkyou meant to say mission space

to op MS is pretty intense, not really scary but makes you feel a variety of things, pressure at "take Off", floating sensation, maybe ready to barf depending on how your body reacts to the motion. i kind of wonder how a young child would remember not to look around, keep head back ect all that they tell you to do to not get sick( hopefully) but if an 8 and10 yr old want to try i'd say they'd be ok( might have aheight restriction, i'm not sure)

Spaceship Earth is a VERY (read V-E-R-Y) SLOW Omnimover ride. Other than some flashing lights here and there - there's nothing to it - but to sit and look at some subtle animatronic scenes of various "historical" moments in the development of communication. It's very much like a Fantasyland Dark ride, except the theme is technology and the development of communications.

Mission Space is quite different and 'somewhat' intense. Though I expected much - MUCH worse, (I rode it a few times last week for the first time) it's mostly just getting plastered against your seat with some continuous force. If you (or they) can't handle tight dark spaces and a few G-forces pressed against you for 8 or 10 seconds at a time - you may want to steer clear. It's not as bad as many people made it out to be (at least not for me) - I expected it to be 100 times more intense than it actually turned out to be. In fact, I ENJOYED it very, very much.

Rock N Rollercoaster - I rode this for the first time last week (several times). I despise unexpected and intense drops (i.e. Tower of Terror) but this ride has none of these. It has a fast lauch - I have no problem with POSITIVE G forces - it's the unexpected NEGATIVE G-FORCES (drops) I sometimes have a problem with - this ride has NO sudden or unexpected drops and almost NO negative G's that I could sense. I, personally thought it was quite tame for a rollercoaster - no more intense than Space Mountain. You are upside down twice on the ride but you are moving so fast you barely notice it.

Obviously, I don't know your child - but the only Disney ride I know I should steer clear of is Tower of Terror - and ONLY because I don't like unexpected drops (or downward pulls). The feel of PUSH or THRUST (POSITIVE G's) doesn't bother me in the least, but I do NOT like unseen or unexpected downward (Stomach in your throat - NEGATIVE G) experiences.

I think that if your child has no problems with Space Mountain they will like Rock N Roller Coaster - If they CAN'T deal with Space Mountain then Rock N Rollercoaster is out of the question.

Hope that helps . . . . some .. . .

Sad to be back home. :smooth:

Mission Space uses centrifugal force and some visuals to make you feel you are taking off, landing, etc. It is MUCH milder than most of the spin rides at many carnivals. But it is much more sophisticated.

Spaceship Earth is a slow ride through the history of communication, with the novel element of working its way uphill and down. It is a classic. A keeper.

The Rockin' Roller Coaster is short, and has the classic flips and corkscrews of most theme park coasters. It is in the dark, like Space Mountain, but there are a lot of black-lit signs and 2-D buildings that appear to manace you. Not to worry.
The take-off is most impressive, since you get to watch it. It is a ... well, I won't tell, if you haven't seen it.

We just came back 2 weeks ago from WDW and my DD9 favorite ride was Rockin Roller coaster ...we road it many times ,sometimes twice in a row, back to back using the Fastpass.!!!On our last day we chose to go to MGM just to ride RnR ,one more time! Mission Space wasn't too bad ...I felt all the hype and the Warnings/Precautions were worse than the ride itself. We rode it once, not too bad of a ride ,just felt a "little bit "dizzy when I got off. Nothing I would want to ride over and over again. Rockin Rollercoaster we feel is the BEST ride @ WDW !!! :flower:

We took my son for the first time on RnR this past may - he fianlly made the height requirement and was so excited. There was a little italian boy in front of us in line that was bawling and so nervous (he ended up taking the chicken exit i felt so sorry for him ) and it made my DS8 very nervous and he started to cry right when we were loading. We kind of held everyone up (it was me, DH, and my brother) but he was going to go no matter what. He went and as soon as we got off her wanted to do it again. That is all he can talk about is how he wats to go back and right.

I probably need to add that he is a real thrill seeker. he has wanted to ride RnR since he first saw it at 5yo. there is nothing that scares this little boy !!
