Rockin Roller Coaster

Without giving too much away, can anyone tell me what kind of coaster this is? I wasn't brave enough to ride it last year. Something about the upside down car display absolutely scared me away. I have read about this coaster and can't really figure out what I'm dealing with. Does it go upside down more than once? Are there seatbelts or just a shoulder/lap bar or both? Is it completely in the dark? I really want to ride this but I want to be somewhat prepared without being spoiled. Thanks so much!!!!

You are held in with an over the shoulder harness. The coaster does go upside down a couple of times - a full loop the loop or two, plus a couple of spirals - but these are incredibly smooth. You never get the sick feeling in the pit of your stomach that you get from falls - there are no zero-g moments on this coaster.

It accelerates VERY fast, then stays fast through the ride.

The ride is dark, but not "pitch black - I can see anything" ala Space Mountain. There are various signposts, "freeway entrances" and such that are lit up, you pass these during the ride.

It is well worth it! The storyline is your trying to get to an Aerosmith concert in your "SUPER" stretch limousine and you go through downtown L.A. It most certainly is dark, but there is some lit up road signs and L.A. theming that provides light.You do go upside down, and there is a nice corkscrew along the way. There is a shoulder harness that drapes over, but if I recall correctly no seat belt? Not 100% sure though on that one! Also, Aerosmith songs like, "Dude looks like a lady", "Dream On", and "Walk This Way" will be playing in a speaker by your ear. it's overall a top 3 ride at disney in my opinion

I'm almost 45 and I've loved coasters my whole life. I've ridden TOT many times...but last trip was my last time. My head was spinning when I got off, I knew then, that was it for me.

Rockin Roller Coaster was my first upside down coaster ever. I had no idea it went upside down until I was on it and I felt it- I was so excited after that and couldn't get enough. I was eight years old at the time.

The ride is intense even if it's not pitch black inside. If you're not a roller coaster person then this ride is not for you. If you think Space Mountain is hard to handle, stay away from RnR.

If you like coasters, it's a pretty good one. The most intense part is probably the launch at the very beginning. It accelerates super fast and doesn't slow down. I used to get butterflies sitting there waiting for it to take off, but I noticed this past time (last week) that from your speaker, they now have Steven Tyler count down the takeoff for you...he yells 3, 2, 1 and then off you go. Maybe they have always done this but this is the first time I have noticed. Kind of lets you brace yourself.

The ride is very very smooth, not jerky like SM or BTMRR, and in my opinion it's over way too fast. It's one of my favorite coasters ever, but if you're not a roller-coaster person you might not like it.

I used to ride all kinds of coasters until after my first DD was born. I rode the Shock Wave at Six Flags Over Texas and got off feeling woozy and I haven't tried anything with loops since then. Heck, now I get dizzy if I lean too far back in my chair

Absolutely worth doing! I've always been a roller coaster lover, but find that the older I get, the tougher they seem to be on me That said, I had no problems at all with this one -- maybe because I'm a huge Aerosmith fan & the music distracted me!

Yes the worst part is the first part where you take off. It is a very smooth roller coaster. I think its too short of a ride. Wish it was longer. This one and Expedition Everest are my two favorites!!!

I wouldn't say that, I won't ride Space Mountain, but will ride RnRC, but I don't ride Space because of the drops, I don't like drops, except Maelstrom and PotC. I also love BTMRR.

It's funny - I went with two "roller coaster chickens" a couple of years ago. They finally got up their nerve to ride RnR. One of them, to this day, swears she didn't go upside down! It's that smooth of a ride. I love it.

It is very fun, fast and smooth. This is the first upside down coaster I ever was on and it was great. I prefer coasters where I can't see the track. This way you are through it before you know.

Tip: before you take off there is a stop light, when it turns yellow, take a deep breath because once your blast off, the air is knocked out of you. You pull more G's on this launch than the original Mission Space.

I used to love this ride. It hurt my neck really bad when I went on this past Sunday, though I still can't yawn or look down without pain. I'd ridden it before and been fine, and have never hurt my neck on ANY ride before, so it is strange it happened.

That being said, it is a pretty smooth ride.. and not completely dark. It is also very short. So, if you really want to go on it, and are scared, try telling yourself it is a minute of your life and it will be over before you know it to get you through. Once you've ridden it, you will probably want to go again and again

It's a roller coaster that's more of a thrill ride than most everything else at WDW. Instead of gaining its energy though a large chain-assisted climb and then going with gravity, it uses linear induction motors. This means it's very smooth, but it ALSO means the acceleration is very likely unlike anything you've experienced before (probably the only things that will prepare you would be along the lines of being on an actual rocket, a catapult shot off a carrier, and a Top Fuel dragster).

Before it launches, make SURE your head is against the headrest or you'll walk out with a headache. A good ride, but not for the faint of heart.

I am not a roller coaster lover at all, but RNR is my favorite ride. Being inside with the music blaring....and such a smooth track is awesome. LOVE it. My oldest son was 7 on our last trip and he rode it for the first time with me and then again with my dh. When we got off the ride the first time, he asked me if it ever went upside down. It's that smooth.

its very intense form start to finish but short ride overall. My 6dd loved it and my wife also does, who won't go on EE. Its not completely dark as said before which helps people who don't like 'dark" rides.....enjoy

In Holland, there's a park called Walibi Holland, and they have a ride called Xpress. It's the exact same ride layout as Rock N' Roller Coaster, built by the same ride manufacturer, everything is the same, except it doesn't have music in the trains, and it's outside. Here's a picture of the ride layout, so it can give you a sense of what RnRC's layout is as well:

EDIT: The ride launches from the lower left hand side of the picture (near the red shed) and immediately you are thrown upwards into a half loop, half corkscrew, half corkscrew again, then another half loop. It sounds weird, but it's only upside-down twice. After that it's some turns and drops. About halfway through the ride there's a corkscrew, which is the last time you go upside-down (3 times). Then it's turns and small dips until you go into the final brake run, which is right next to the launch track. The entire ride from launch to brakes is 1 minute.

I actually didn't really like Space Mountain but that was because I didn't feel secure. The ride itself was fine. I felt like I was going to fall out. Is the RNRC like that? Do you feel safe in the seat? That's my biggest concern especially going upside down. I enjoy rollercoasters although I occasionally feel overwhelmed by the jerkiness. I'm glad that this one is smoother.

The ride is very secure. I really HATE Space Mountain but love RNR. It never bothered my back like Space Mountain did. That being said, as I have gotten older it has begun to bother my neck. The last couple of times I rode it it really was uncomfortable for me.

I LOVE RnR!!!!!!!!!

I think the difference here is that it is inside, most of the upside down stuff is spiral (I think???) and you are securely held in place. The speed doesn't bother me, I love that part.

I do scream non-stop from the moment of take off, and I didn't keep my eyes open the whole way until about the fifth time I rode it!

Nothing like Space Mountain, which is just jerky and painful to me; don't ride that anymore.

RnR is the only ride I will wait more than 30 minutes for, if necessary, and usually ride more than once.
DO IT!!!!!
