My girls really want to do this ride. I, do not! LOL But... I'm thinking of being the good mom, and taking them on.
How crazy is the ride? Do you flip over? How jerky is it? My 7 year old has had her neck messed up on rides in Great Adventure, and seeing that this is our first day in the parks, I don't want to take a chance on a jerky ride.
Also, if we go straight there from RD, how bad should the wait be?

TIA!

I am not a thrill ride guy so I can give you an honest assessment. I wasn't unhappy at all when my DS was younger and not sure if he wanted to go on RNR. Then he decided he did and I grudgingly went along to be a fun Dad. I am glad I did. Yes you go upside down(several times) and it moves fast. But it is smooth and alot of fun with the music along for the ride.

Just make sure your head is back against the headrest when it launches (you'll know, they count it down) and before you know it you are climbing out of the ride vehicle with wobbly legs and a happy kid.:)

I find it very jerky, feel like my head gets bounced around. If you go on, make sure you keep your heads back against the headrest as the ride starts. It does go upside down and do corkscrews, but its so fast it's not as bad as it sounds! Having said that, my son went on in May at 5 years old and loved it, so I'll continue riding it with him!

It has a very fast launch (~60mph) and a few inversions - I know there's at least a loop and a corkscrew type movement. I don't recall if there's one more or not, sorry.

It's a very smooth ride, in my opinion. Keeping your head pressed firmly back against the headrest minimizes any head/neck whipping, but there is still some lateral movement during the ride. I think it's tamer than most of the coasters at Great Adventure, for whatever that's worth. (EDIT: Also, I think RnRC is way easier on the neck than Space Mountain is! I always get off Space feeling like I need a chiropractor. YMMV.)

The wait should be minimal first thing in the morning. Most people run straight to TSMM.

It can be Jerky but on a whole id say its fast and smooth, Our Daughter rode it last year and she was 7 then and loved it !!!

Let them ride it. Wait at RD will be minimal. Less than 10 minutes. It is a little jerky but not bad. I have ridden 150ish coasters, and I will not re-ride ones that bang my head bad. While this one isn't one of my favorites, and a bit jerky, I still really like it.

Only you know what is best for the past injury...I would say no at this age, but that is just me being cautious for a 7 year old.

DH has degenerative disk disease. DDiL has a twisted lumbar disc. Neither are "supposed to ride" many of the rides, but they had doctor's clearance. They rode multiple times in June. FP+ at noon and then back on within 15 minutes standby. After the ride, I was worried about the catapult, twists, etc. and their backs. Neither had any problems. They did say they moved their heads around, but the ride itself was smooth.

The biggest thing was the amount of adrenaline pumping through :hyper::hyper::hyper: "Let's go again..."

My head got knocked around too, but it wasn't too bad. I'd ride it again. The only Disney coaster that bothers me is Space Mountain.

It is fast and pretty smooth. It does a lot of corkscrews but no big drops or tall loops. It's over in seconds though, so if it bothers you just close your eyes and focus on the music!

definitely sit in the FRONT! the back can jerk you around a lot and the launch feels rougher from there, so ask to sit in the front when you're seated. other than that, i'll second what everyone else has said: face forward and keep your head back against the headrest. the ride itself is less than three minutes, so you'll be off in no time if you don't like it very much.

have fun on your trip! :hippie:

I am not a roller coaster person. That being said, I love Disney roller coasters. It took years for me to be brave enough to go on Space Mountain and an incredible amount of encouragement to go on California Screamin' (I live in California and frequent Disneyland often). My first trip to Disney World was in March and I was wanting to be brave and ride Rockin' Roller Caster but I was so nervous because I've only ever done one inversion (the 60mph take off didn't bother me since California Screamin' has the same thing). I LOVED it. Personally I only noticed one inversion. It was smooth, and fast, and so much fun. My advice is to be brave and try it once.

As far as rollercoasters go this one is pretty smooth. As others have stated you go upside down a few times but it's not bad. The loops are very wide so there isn't an overwhelming amount of force on you. Also I think it helps that the only thing you can really see in there are the things lit up by black lights. I honestly don't even really feel like I'm going upside down on the first and largest upside down loop. Also on the plus side.. if that you decide that you hate the ride halfway through its over faster then it started. I believe the ride lasts less than 60 seconds. Not for sure on the exact time but it's very very short.

Oh I'll help you......HELP YOU TO ROCK!!!! :rockband::music:

Seriously. RnRC is a FAST ride, but I've never gotten banged around on it. My wife is not a thrill seeker at all and for some reason on our last trip I was able to convince her to go on it (Hadn't been on any rides that went upside down in 20+ years) and she actually enjoyed. Like other posters said, it is very short so it'll be over before you remember to be terrified.

Compared to the coasters at my six flags- Rock N Roller Coaster is a rather wimpy ride in comparison. I think maybe one traditional loop and an inverted twist or two. The rest is mostly just going fast around curves and maybe a small drop or two. There are no major hills or anything. Its a steel coaster, and you are in a full chest harness, so the ride is smooth as far as coasters go, and the restraint really keeps you planted into your seat so you aren't really "thrown around" at all.

The biggest scary part is right at the beginning- in lieu of the traditional roller coaster convention of slowly going up a big hill, followed by a big drop, the ride does a zero to 60mph blast off at the start which blasts you right into the first loop. Also the fact is a dark coaster, ala space mountain, may concern some.

But make no mistake, if you saw this one in the light, it would really be nothing compared to the big coasters of today. I'm generally a wimpy old fart when it comes to coasters these days, but Rock N Roller coaster is nothing but fast, smooth fun for me.

I hate roller coasters in general but this one doesn't bother me at all. I think for me, it's knowing that it's only 3 minutes long and since it's in the dark with black light, I can't see what's coming up ahead. It does bang your head around a bit but as other's have said, make sure to keep your head back in the seat.

The only "intense" part of the ride is the launch (where other posters have said that it's 60mph) but it's a really quick ride. '

I find that it's a very smooth ride, but the last time I rode it, we were seated towards the back and my head was bouncing around the entire time. Not too sure why seating placement would affect the jerkiness though.

It has a very fast start but is very smooth after that. Just keep your head firmly back and you'll have a great time.

Grandma, Grandpa and my wife's Great-Aunt have all ridden it in the last few years with no complaints.

Have Fun !!!

Joining in with RNR love. I used to love all coasters as a ten, now even Everest makes me nauseous. Rnr does not make me sick, nor is it jerky IMO. As pp said, it goes so quickly that you don't have time to be scared! Very smooth too.

My bff refused to ride it for years, and she tried it on her last trip to placate her dd. She loved it too, she said she couldn't believe she's been missing it for all these years!

We're coaster club members and travel to a lot of theme and amusement parks. RnR is a very tame ride compared to many we've experienced. If it wasn't indoors, you would look at it and say "That's it? Really?"

My oldest, freakishly tall daughter started riding RnR at age 4 so I think a 7 year old should be fine.

We're off to Six Flags over Texas this weekend. I hear they grow them over 250 feet tall down there.

I'm a giant Weenie when it comes to coasters. I ride EE but can't go so far as to say I enjoy it so I was really afraid to try R&R. (Plus with 6 prior attempts over the last several years every time we decided to try it the lines were huge, or it was closed - and last Winter they shut it down when we were the next ones to board - thought it was a sign we weren't supposed to ride it! :))

Finally rode it a week ago and loved, loved loved it!!! As for the jerkiness, as we walked up to the building a woman coming out was complaining bitterly about her head jerking around. It didn't bother me at all - but I think its because I kept my head back as they suggest.

The inversions are super fast and overall the ride was much easier for me to handle than EE. Can't wait to do it again!
