Rock On!! Because Devil Horns Do Belong at Disney. An Oct TR Updated 9/5 x10!

did you ever figure out what kind of sunscreen that was? Hopefully we don't buy any of that...........:)

VERY shiny Jim!!! I definitely see what you were talking about earlier with it! ::yes::

DROOOOOOOLLLL~ Flametree!

I just love that photo spot in AK - and the two of you are adorable! I just love the one where you are kissing in the frame... Glistening sunscreen, chapstick and all! :)

Bummer about your photo on EE... There were times that we were cut off, and when we told the person at the kiosk, they were able to maneuver the ride frame around the photo to make us more visible... Just so you know for next time. So, did Jim like EE or not?

Love FTBBQ - we have only eaten there once... between our TH must do and our jalepeno pretzel must do - we never have room for FT... We need to make a point of it again some day, as I remember it being very delicious and your food photos are definately mouth watering.

Cute PP pictures! EE is always such a good backdrop!

I've never heard a bad review of Flame Tree! Must be great!!

Fun Photopass Pictures. :)

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Jim did EE with you; I know you weren't sure about that one.

Great choice in Flame Tree...a favorite of ours too.

Loved the update!!! you guys look adorable together!

i was wondering how hot it was the way Jim glistened! then read about the sun screen! :lmao:

that's love. no matter how yucky. you can still kiss!!!!

Thanks! Well it was starting to get a bit hot at that point but definitely not hot enough for him to be glistening like that!

did you ever figure out what kind of sunscreen that was? Hopefully we don't buy any of that...........:)

I can't remember and I keep forgetting to ask Jim. It was some kind of "sports" variety in a blue spray bottle. He normally uses Banana Boat but the grocery store didn't have it and he didn't want to take the time to go elsewhere.

VERY shiny Jim!!! I definitely see what you were talking about earlier with it! ::yes::

DROOOOOOOLLLL~ Flametree!

Yep, he was shiny! Flametree is the best!

I just love that photo spot in AK - and the two of you are adorable! I just love the one where you are kissing in the frame... Glistening sunscreen, chapstick and all! :)

That is a really nice spot and it was the first time I've gotten PP pictures there!

Bummer about your photo on EE... There were times that we were cut off, and when we told the person at the kiosk, they were able to maneuver the ride frame around the photo to make us more visible... Just so you know for next time. So, did Jim like EE or not?

I will have to remember that for next time, we didn't even stop at the desk once I saw the picture. He didn't really like it, just tolorated it. I think he would ride again though. There was only one ride the whole week that he said he would never ride again. And it was one I thought he would be fine on!

Love FTBBQ - we have only eaten there once... between our TH must do and our jalepeno pretzel must do - we never have room for FT... We need to make a point of it again some day, as I remember it being very delicious and your food photos are definately mouth watering.

I'm exactly the opposite of you at AK! I want to try out TH but then it would mean missing FT. I have yet to make it to TH.

Joining in a little late! Loving your report so far! :thumbsup2

:welcome: Thanks for joining in!

That is a great place for PP pics! FT is really good, you should give it a try sometime!

Fun Photopass Pictures. :)

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Jim did EE with you; I know you weren't sure about that one.

Great choice in Flame Tree...a favorite of ours too.

Thanks! Yeah I was surprised at Jim on this trip. He actually went on everything one time. He didn't like all of them but at least he tried.

In my last five trips to Disney I've eaten at FT all but one of those. So I guess you could say it's a favorite of mine too!

When we finished up lunch, it wasn’t even noon yet so we had an hour to kill before our next FP+ which was Dinosaur at 1 pm. Since we had some time to kill and we were right there, I suggested that we go meet the guys from Up. We both loved that movie so Jim was game. Well, he was pretty much game for any meet and greet I suggested as long as the line wasn’t too long.

There were only about 5 families in front of us when we got in line but then Dug and Russell went on a water break and half of the families left! We ended up being 2nd in line. Jim asked if we were going to leave too and I said heck no, they’ll be right back. I don’t think we waited more than 10 minutes total.

This turned out to be one of my favorite meet and greets. So let’s see some pictures.

I was apparently having quite the conversation with Dug. I think I was telling him all about our dogs at home and how they like to chase squirrels.

The CM that was handling the characters was really awesome. He was going on and on about our anniversary and how 15 years was so great. He decided we needed to kiss again for the photos (another yucky one!). Well Dug and Russell got embarrassed and covered their eyes.

I think Russell is taking a peek on this one!

When we finished up the meet, I decided it was time to meet my favorite dog so we headed towards Dinoland. As we passed the CM at the Pooh & Tigger greet, he yelled “Happy Anniversary” to us then asked if we would like the number of years written on the pins. Of course we did so we stopped and talked to him for a minute while he wrote. Here’s a picture of my decorated pin that I took later that day.

The CM also told us there was only a 10 minute wait for Pooh and Tigger so we decided to head down there. I’ve never done this meet and greet before and was surprised at how far you actually walk to get to the little pavilion. The meet right before us was very cute because the little girl had her face painted like a tiger. Pooh was scared of her and went and hid behind the PP photographer. Then it was our turn.

Pooh applauded us for 15 years of marriage.

Then we headed over to see Tigger. Jim decided he needed to bounce with Tigger. I tried some bouncing too but it hurt my bad ankle a little too much. The photographer did get one picture of us bouncing.

We headed back out and thanked the CM at the entrance once more for decorating our pins then headed towards Dinoland to meet some more characters.

There was a bit of a line for Pluto and Goofy but I wasn’t missing this meet so we got in line. Thank goodness there is some shade in that line because it was boiling by this time of the day. We ended up waiting about 20 minutes and passed the time talking to a Grandma who was in line with her young Granddaughter. She told us they had had an awful time at DHS the day before. They were staying at Sarasota Springs and that was the only resort that was not using the Magic Bands yet. She said that between the time they got there at rope drop and 1:30 pm they were able to get TSM and Disney Junior done and that was it. That worried me a little bit as we were headed to DHS the next day. At least we had our FP+ made for the day.

When it was finally our time, I went straight to Pluto for some hugs! This wasn’t the best greet I’ve had with Pluto, I had to point out my bag to him and he didn’t seem too excited. Goofy on the other hand was mad that I was paying so much attention to Pluto so he started stamping his foot at me. I decided to give him some love too.

By the time we finished up with that greet it was time for our Dinosaur FP+ so we headed that way.

Up Next: Where’s the Elephant?

Sorry you didn't get he Pluto love you DESERVED!
love the Up meet.. i can't wait for my midgets to meet them!!
keep up a great report!!!

The kissing pictures may have been gross but they certainly came out very cute!! And I LOVE all the character pics, especially the ones with Russel & Dug!

What a wonderful update. So.....for someone who doesn't claim to be a Disney Addict, Jim sure is having a lot of fun! :upsidedow Bouncing with Tigger? LOVE IT! That photo with you kissing in from of Dug and Russell is so darn cute!!! I think that is a perfect anniversary picture! ::yes:: I really like how the CM decorated your pins, too...so special! BTW~ I have already put in my order with Brian for an adults only trip for our 20th anniversary...just three years away!

Ariana, great character photos. We had a good interaction with the UP characters two years ago...they were a lot of fun.

I thought they were moving Pooh and Tigger from that spot? :confused3 I see Eeyore wasn't there and he was always part of it, but they were supposed to be moved to Camp Mickey & Minnie. Very strange.

I'm sorry Pluto didn't seem too interested in your bag and all.

All the photos are wonderful.

What wonderful character meets and pictures! Don't you just love the AK character meets???

I love the pictures with Russell and Dug covering their eyes - how funny!

And that Pluto/Goofy meet is one of my favorites out of all the meets in all the parks. So neat to see the two of them together like that. :thumbsup2

Sorry you didn't get he Pluto love you DESERVED!
love the Up meet.. i can't wait for my midgets to meet them!!
keep up a great report!!!

I know it was a disappointing greet with Pluto but I've had some awesome ones in the past so I was fine.

The Up guys were a blast to meet!

The kissing pictures may have been gross but they certainly came out very cute!! And I LOVE all the character pics, especially the ones with Russel & Dug!

You are right they did turn out very cute. We had a lot of fun meeting all the characters!

Great update! :)

Thanks!

I don't know what it is about Characters but he loves meeting them. Not just at Disney either, do you remember the picture of him with the Rainforest Frog in his lap? :rotfl:

Yeah for an adult trip only! I've actually never gone with kids so the trip this February is going to be a first for me!

Ariana, great character photos. We had a good interaction with the UP characters two years ago...they were a lot of fun.

All the photos are wonderful.

I'm not sure if they are moving the Pooh & Tigger spot. I do know that they took Eeyore out of there a bit back. The only place you can meet him now is at Crystal Palace. I don't think they will move them to Camp Mickey & Minnie because that area is closing soon so they can start Avatarland.

What wonderful character meets and pictures! Don't you just love the AK character meets???

I love the pictures with Russell and Dug covering their eyes - how funny!

That was the first time I've done any meets at AK other than the Pluto/Goofy one and it was a lot of fun! The Pluto/Goofy meet is my favorite place to meet Pluto!

My Mom is flying in tomorrow and will be here through Dec 4th. So I will be off the DIS for that time. We actually considered hopping down to Disney for a few days but the price was just a bit too high. Instead we plan to do lots of Christmas shopping and also work on our plans for Disney in February. So heres one more update to hold you over till next week.

I wasnt sure if we would need a FP+ for Dinosaur but there really wasnt anything else I wanted so I got one. I was glad I did as the standby line was all the way out the door and the sign said that the wait was 40 minutes.

I thought that we waited a bit in the FP line but I guess not because I only took two pictures. If we had been standing there for a while I am sure I would have taken more.

I was hoping the ride would scare Jim but he just said it was ok. Pretty much everything this day was met with a just ok attitude from him. AK was definitely not his favorite. He does look a tiny bit scared in the ride photo.

When we finished Dinosaur it had gotten so hot I was starting to feel a little yucky. I do not do well when it is that hot out. I definitely did not want to miss Festival of the Lion King since rumors were already floating around that it would be closed when I went in February. But there was no way we would make the 1:30 pm show. I decided some air conditioning was in order so we headed back to Discovery Island and got in line for Its Tough to Be a Bug.

We walked all the way to the preshow area as usual.

Jim liked the big dung ball and decided to pose with it.

We finished up our visit to the world of bugs then headed towards the FOLK Theater. We shopped our way through a few of the stores but were still so early that they werent letting people into the waiting area yet. I decided to take a bathroom break while Jim found a seat in the shade. By the time I came back, they were letting people into the waiting area.

While we were waiting I felt like I was melting and told Jim I was about done with AK for the day. He was kind of shocked I would say that but he did want to go back to the room and shower the nasty sunscreen off before we went to Epcot for Food and Wine. I had planned on trying to catch a few more meet and greets but we decided to head out of the park after the show.

When we were let in, I bee lined for the Giraffe section which is my favorite. Not sure why, Ive sat in the Elephant and the Lion section but the Giraffe section just feels like home to me. Am I crazy or do others have a favorite section? Im going to be so sad if they change the show around when they move it. Well, unless its even more awesome than it is now.

We ended up in the first row right behind the handicapped seats.

I will say I took far fewer pictures than I normally do during this show. I was not having much luck with the new camera and I ended up getting too wrapped up in the show and didnt want to mess with the settings at that moment. Heres what I did take.

After I took Simbas picture, I turned to get one of the Elephant and it wasnt there. I was kind of startled because you rarely see mistakes during any of the Disney shows. It was well into the start of the Tumble Monkeys before the Elephant finally showed up and it was brought out by a couple of stage hands in regular cloths. They must have been having some kind of technical difficulty with the float. I dont know why I find that stuff fascinating but it totally made my day to see the small error in the show. You would think it would ruin the magic for me but it actually adds to it. It just made me realize how great Disney really is to do those shows over and over every day with so few mistakes. Most people probably didnt even notice any way, Ive just seen the show so many times it was obvious to me.

Anyway, lets move on to the rest of the pictures I took from the show. The Tumble Monkeys are my favorite and one particular Monkey always makes me smile. Unfortunately, he wasnt in this show but this guy was awesome too.

And that was it for the pictures, I just got way too caught up in the show. I guess thats ok once in a while, right? I did have an extremely awesome fan girl moment though. At the very end of the show one of the Monkeys ran down our aisle high-fiving everyone. You would have thought Id just had a brush with one of the most famous stars in the world the way I acted. Jim got a good laugh out of that one but then I reminded him of the fact that he still talks about high-fiving the drummer from Ratt at a concert we went to years ago.

After the show we started to head out of the park. I decided first though that I needed a Mickey ice cream sandwich so we stopped at a cart on the way out of Camp Mickey. Jim didnt want anything and I didnt get a picture of it because it was melting so fast. It did hit the spot though and helped cool me down a little.

We made one more stop at the gift shop right outside of the gates because I knew they had the safari vest pin board. Its actually a real safari vest with pins all over it. I was able to find two more of the Country Bear pins. I only had one more to find although I didnt realize that at the time. It was much later in the week when a CM told us that the number of pins in a series is written on the back of each pin and I figured out there was a total of six.

Jim made his very first pin trades and got a Star Wars one and a pirate one.

We made it to the bus stop finally but must have just missed one because we ended up waiting about 20 minutes. We finally made it back to our room at 4 pm.

Have fun with your Mom! :goodvibes

I understand about the heat getting to you. Sometimes it just shuts you down, no matter how much you want to trek on. I'm glad you still made it to see FOTLK! I love the tumble monkeys too :) And great pin trades!

Yay for details in Ak! Lol,. Seriously, best ever. I love that place! Great photopass shots! Even if it was a gross kiss, lol! Love the pics inside the EE queue, there’s so much to look at and I never even have enough time lol! Too bad your ride photo was cut off! I did find that happened with one of our photos but when they pulled it up on the screen at the desk they were able to shift it around so you could see me in it!

Flame tree is always such a hit! Yum!

Ahahah, I love it when people leave when the characters leave, like theyre gonna be RIGHT back, some people just don’t know! Awesome character meets! Looks like it was a blast!

Ahhhhhh if you’d gone to Disney you’d’ve been there at the same time as us!! Lol. SO CLOSE! It’s not weird to have a favorite section…I live in that Elephant section, same seats every time too…I’ve sat in giraffe and lion recently and it just feels WEIRD lol. I am concerned for when they move it as they will probably be changing some things, I’m hoping they keep most of the show the same!

I totally get that about seeing things go wrong, like…what…what just happened. The poor bird girl hit a light in Oct when they pulled her up too fast, I was a little scared for her life. And right after auditions last Feb there was a new bird guy and he had no clue where he was supposed to be during be prepared…

That was a pretty full day at Ak, glad you guys got to do almost everything you wanted before heading out!

I hope you have a great visit with your mom!

We saw the FotLK for the first time in August - wow! What a great show. I thought your pictures came out really nice. :thumbsup2

Good morning Ariana... I know I am a bit early - but I won't have time to do this tomorrow. So, I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your mom!
