Rock On!! Because Devil Horns Do Belong at Disney. An Oct TR Updated 9/5 x10!

I'm afraid the bus thing is a "entire Disney resort" problem these days (they were awful at the Beach Club in June and why we are renting a car in two weeks).

I love all of your photopass pictures at the AK. They turned out great.

My husband is the complete opposite...I can't get him away from the animals. I have to move him along or we would be there for hours and hours.

Jim trying on the Minnie ears had me :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I don't know....he is wearing the lime green color :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

That is true! ::yes:: Still couldn't imagine him on here chatting with us ladies. :lmao:

Great wishes shots!! Too bad about the tal and ear hat waering girls in front of you for celebrate the magic, but at least you were able to move for wishes!! Gotta love those shows!! So magical!

I do love both of those shows!!

Have to say the thing I hate most about the moderates is the bus loop, and CSR was definitely not my favorite resort to stay at when I could do Port Orleans instead lol. I probably wouldn’t stay there again. Too bad you guys didn’t have a great experience either!!

Yeah, I almost prefer staying at a Value since all of the bus stops are together and there are orderly lines for each park. I've never had bus trouble at a value before.

Anne had the same problem with her finger being greasy from the sunscreen and not working with her card!! It’s a weird thing…lol. Also, never seen Rafiki out front of AK, that’s interesting, and FUN!

That day wasn't the only time Jim had problems! It was very cool to see Rafiki out front of AK. Sad thing (or maybe good for us) is there wasn't much of a line because everyone was rushing right past to get into the park!

Awesome photopass pictures! Glad you don’t get upset by photobombers on the main drags of Disney! Some people go crazy and it’s like, calm down, they don’t even know its going on most of the time! Great animal pics! I haven’t been on that trail in nearly two years! Despite AK being one of my favorite parks I never seem to spend quite enough time there!

Nah I don't mind at all, photo bombers make for fun pictures! There's no way you can get a photo without other people in them at that time in the morning.

For some reason, I always end up walking that trail and missing the Tiger one. I haven't seen my Tigers since 2011. I'm sure that is going to change this trip because my SIL has talked non-stop about the Fruit Bats since the last time she was there in early 2010!

Bummer that you had trouble at the Beach Club too. I still don't think I would rent a car but only because I'm one of those people who hates to drive. As frustrated as I was a few times this trip I still wouldn't be comfortable driving to the parks.

We did get some great PP pictures at AK and there are many more good ones coming up from the rest of the week!

When I go in February with my Mom, brother and SIL I'm not sure who will be the one to drag us away because all four of us are huge animal lovers. They might just have to kick us out at closing time! :rotfl:

Actually the Minnie ears were all your doing. ::yes:: I told him I needed "hat" photos and that is why he grabbed those and put them on. He did do a few more after that but not as many as I wanted, we just kept forgetting.

Well it wasn’t actually night as the title suggests but “Does the Lion Sleep Today” just doesn’t have the same ring. Our next stop was to use our FP+ for the Safari. Our time was 10 am – 11 am and it was now about 9:50. We sat on a bench for a minute and had a drink of water from the bottles Jim brought in his backpack. Best decision ever to order the case of water from Garden Grocer.

I told him while we were sitting there that I really wanted to see a lion up and about on the safari because they have always been asleep when I had ridden in the past. I don’t think Jim really cared one way or the other.

About 5 minutes to 10 we got in line to get into the FP line. Yep, there was a wait once again to get into the FP line. Once we got past the first spot to scan your MB though we walked all the way to this spot before stopping again. The loading area is basically right there.

Here comes our truck!

For some reason, they did not put anyone else in our row so Jim and I had it all to ourselves.

I doubt most of you need commentary at this point so, let’s just look at lots and lots of animal pictures!

When we hit the Savana area, the Giraffes were in a weird spot so I didn’t get as many pictures of them as I usually do.

OK, maybe I did still get quite a few of them! The baby was soooo cute!

Then it was time for some serious Elephant butt!

Got to have a picture of my upside down tree. I take a similar picture every single time!

Then it was time for the Lions! Would I get lucky finally? YES!!! The male lion was up and walking around!!

Not the best pictures but at least I finally saw him moving. The female was also there but she was lying down and barely visible. Moving on from there.

When we got to the area where the Zebras usually are, they had these guys instead:

And that was it for Safari pictures. Not a bad one at all, we saw plenty of animals and I was satisfied.

Up Next: That Was the Grossest Kiss Ever!

LOVE the lion pictures....here is my wish, me and all my animal loving friends save & save and pool our money and rent one of those villas at AKL and then be eligible for the sunrise safari I think you call it that staying at concierge level, probably would cost a freakin fortune if I tried to do that myself, but split a few ways may not be bad at all...something to think about

Can you believe I STILL haven't gotten over there yet to see the new baby giraffe, ? ! thanks for the pictures and the nudge I have moved it up on the " must do" list...I better hurry before she's not a baby anymore

Awesome to get you & Jim with no one else sharing the jeep row, I get crazy when all of a sudden you have the perfect picture lined up and a human head gets in the way  loving the TR

Love to Jim & the fur babies ( updated today ..our Dismeet ! )

:dance3::dance3::dance3: You saw the male lion walking.

WOW! You got some really amazing safari pictures. Great job. :thumbsup2

Great pics! AS IF you actually saw the lion up and around, that's crazy!!

Do you find that after doing the wild africa trek that the safari isn't as awesome?

:goodvibes I thoroughly needed that ride through the savanna this morning. I just love when the day has been hectic, and I can come on the Dis and have a brief escape to my happy place. :cloud9: THANKS! :thumbsup2

Of all the pics I have seen of AK that's the first time I got to see a pic of the truck coming up. Great job thanks!

Love your report!

My DH wasn't much of a Disney fan either, but from the two trips we have taken, he is starting to enjoy it more and more, I think it's because he only went once as a child....don't think he had much fun or remembered much of it. :P

Our favourite ride is the Safari, so I loved the pics from there :)

We can't wait to do the Backstage Safari on our next trip as we didn't have enough time last trip.

Good Job on all the pictures! CONGRATS on the Lion walks TODAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
:rotfl:

Safari is one of my favorites! All the pictures i see of this.. the animals are always int he same PLACE! the hippos are all gathered just like that & so on! cracks me up...

Great update Ariana!

I am so happy that the lion was up and walking around for you this time. I love doing the safari in the morning - it seems like the animals are all up and moving around.

I think you did just fine on giraffe pictures... LOL And I agree - that baby giraffe is so cute! I know there are two of them (or there were when we were there) - I am surprised at how little they still are - I figured they would grow much faster. Unless this is a different one?

LOL at the serious elephant butt.

Glad you got a row to yourselves.

Nice safari pics!! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

I am so in, just say when!! I actually looked at AK club level for Jim and I but it was waaaaayyyyy over my budget!

Can you believe I STILL haven't gotten over there yet to see the new baby giraffe, ? ! thanks for the pictures and the nudge I have moved it up on the " must do" list...I better hurry before she's not a baby anymore

Definitely go see them if you get a chance, they don't stay little for long.

It was nice and Jim was careful for once to stay out of my line of fire.

Love to Jim & the fur babies ( updated today ..our Dismeet ! )

I saw the update! Gonna be a while yet before I get there on my TR.

:dance3::dance3::dance3: You saw the male lion walking.

I know, I was so excited to see him up! I'm really loving the new camera, that's for sure.

Do you find that after doing the wild africa trek that the safari isn't as awesome?

It was awesome to see him up and about! No, not really but I could look at animals all day. But I would do the WAT again in a heartbeat.

:goodvibes I thoroughly needed that ride through the savanna this morning. I just love when the day has been hectic, and I can come on the Dis and have a brief escape to my happy place. :cloud9: THANKS! :thumbsup2

You are welcome my friend! Glad I could provide you with an escape today.

Of all the pics I have seen of AK that's the first time I got to see a pic of the truck coming up. Great job thanks!

Well I do aim to please! :rotfl: Actually I just take way too many pictures. Sometimes when I get home I'll look at some of them and wonder why in the world I even took them. :confused3 I'm sure I had a purpose at the moment.

:welcome: Thanks for joining in! I wish Jim had fallen in love with Disney but he really didn't. He kept saying all week that he wouldn't have to do this for another 15 years.

I haven't done the Backstage Safari yet but did do the Wild Africa Trek last year with my Mom. We loved it and thought it was absolutely worth the money!

Yeah, I don't think those Hippos ever move! The Giraffes were in a slightly different place this time which made picture taking a little hard.

Um, no singing from me, I didn't want to scare the other guests or the animals. :rotfl: You know the horrible outtakes from American Idol? Well take those times 10 and you've got my singing voice. Yep, it's that bad. Thank goodness I know it's that bad unlike those contestants!

I like the safari in the morning too! I'm sure by later that day when it was boiling the animals were all asleep.

I only saw one baby but I don't think all of the Giraffes were out yet that day. I think there are only two of them, I remember our guide on the Wild Africa Trek saying that two of the females were pregnant.

My understanding the baby giraffe you saw is the only baby at the time, born maybe a few months before your trip You mentioned the zebras they were removed from the area because they were fighting/ not playing nice They did not adapt well and were relocated I believe to AKL area I only know all this because I am constantly asking CMs over there The other parks I will concede to all of you here for correct info :)

I am very serious about what I suggested and I KNEW you would want to :goodvibes I would need at least a year to save for it Talk about it after the holidays ?

Bahaha. This was Sunday, right? My mom and I were in the park this day, too - we did the safari around 9:30, and the ostrich was just hanging out there by the eggs. She didn't look like she'd moved a muscle!

Oh, OK, I thought there were two because the Wild Africa Trek guide told us two of them were pregnant. I knew that they were having problems with the Zebras and were only there sometimes. I'm so glad we got to spend some time watching them on the WAT.

Of course I'm interested in staying at AKL! That resort along with WL are my dream resorts to stay at someday.

Yep it was Sunday. I don't think that I've ever seen the Ostrich doing anything but laying on those eggs!

After we finished up on the Safari, we started making our way towards Asia and our next FP+ which was EE from 11 am – 12 pm. We got distracted by the pin cart along the way and then we saw a PP photographer that was using a frame. I really wanted to get some of those pictures so we got in line. I love all the details at AK. This bike was just sitting along the path where we were waiting.

This photographer was once again taking a long time with each family so I occupied myself taking pictures while we waited.

Finally after about 15 minutes, it was our turn.

He had us do a kiss for our anniversary.

We both came away from the kiss going “Ewww that was gross”. Between the nasty sunscreen Jim was wearing and the Chapstick I had on, it was not a pleasant kiss at all. You can really see how greasy Jim was in these pictures.

Then it was time to use the frame!

And then he asked us to kiss again! Being the good sports we are, we went for it, grossness and all.

When we finished with the pictures it was time for our EE FP+ so we headed straight there. I let Jim watch the big hill for a minute and reminded him that it went backwards for a bit. He said he thought he would be fine so we got in line. Some pictures as we walked through the line.

We ended up right in the middle of the car. Jim asked me to tell him when the picture was going to be taken. So when we got to the part right before the big hill I let him know. He just put his hands up while I decided to take a nap. When we got off I was anxious to see our picture but unfortunately we were completely cut off. You could just see the bottom of our shirts and that was it. I was so disappointed especially since we had PP+. I thought about pulling some regular FPs so we could ride again but Jim was not too keen on the idea plus I didn’t think we would be back over that way. It was really starting to get hot at that point and crossing back and forth in the park was not an appealing idea.

I also realized that I had the start of a good headache going. Part of the problem was hunger so I knew I needed to get some food and aspirin in me before it turned into a full blown migraine. I had planned on hitting up the Tiger trail before lunch but decided it was not a good idea at that point. So we headed around past the Nemo theater to Flame Tree where we were going to have lunch. A trip to AK is not complete for me without lunch at Flame Tree!

Jim got the smoked pork sandwich that came with coleslaw:

I got my usual ½ chicken meal. Jim ended up with double coleslaw because I don’t like it.

For dessert we both got Chocolate Mousse.

I loved it as usual and Jim was very impressed with how good the food was for a counter service place. Getting some food and aspirin in me helped a ton and thankfully the headache went away.

Up Next: More Kissing, Some Bouncing and a Couple of Dogs

Loved the update!!! you guys look adorable together!

i was wondering how hot it was the way Jim glistened! then read about the sun screen! :lmao:
