Rock On!! Because Devil Horns Do Belong at Disney. An Oct TR Updated 9/5 x10!

Aww Remy is adorable! The picture of him "driving" with Jim is the cutest. How sad that he originally didn't get the care he deserved. If you do keep him (which is seems like you are) I know he will get lots of love and will hopefully adapt to his new environment quickly!

Thanks, he is a cutie! Working at the shelter I unfortunately see sad cases like his all the time. I wish people would think before getting an animal sometimes!

I was amazed at how fast he actually did adapt, more on that in the next post.

I apologize that I am so far behind everywhere... I am taking some time today to try and catch up - unfortunately - I am afraid it will be more of a skim and pick up where I can sort of catching up.

No problem, I way behind again too!

I loved your fantastmic pictures. Despite the 4 trips under our belt, we have only seen Fantasmic once, and my camera was dead by then - so no photos. As much as I'd love to see the show again - I have NO desire to fight those crowds... So, we will see if we ever make it back.

The crowds are a little intimidating but if you sit for a few minutes after the show and wait for it to clear out, it's not too bad. I always save the stores on the main drag for after Fantasmic rather than heading straight to the bus.

I love your newest Pluto stocking... I would love to see all of them together. They would make great "Doggie" stockings, since it seems you have one for each of your kids... Including the newest member of your family.

I probably do have enough for everyone, I'll have to get them all together for a picture. I actually have doggie stockings for our babies. That reminded me that I need to see if they still have the one I got for the other three so I can get one for Remy.

Speaking of which - I like the name Remy - it seems to fit him so well. I hope he has a good adjustment, and you are able to keep him - you are such good Doggie parents, that any dog would be super lucky to find your family. Please keep us updated! <3

D~

The name does suit him well. He's sort of picked up the nickname "the little rat" since he's so small. :rotfl: He has adjusted very well, I'm going to post some about him after I do replies.

Here I am...you & I are playing Disboard tag this morning ...I saw you over there, then I posted an update, now you get to go back there :duck: we will get nothing done today :rotfl:

You made me cry & then you made me laugh Remy isn't going anywhere You know I used to volunteer too Like you right before Christmas about 8 yrs ago a very nervous and abused fur baby came into our home ...temporarily :rolleyes1

She has " issues" she will never get over and that's okay she is one of the kids
That humping thing ...well ours is a female and purely a dominance thing to control the others...it failed miserably as Fantasia put her in her place Yours will teach him too How adorable in the car picture but the best was the " finally crashed" picture :lmao:

Soooo glad you put your foot down with the original thoughts on his name Remy is PERFECT what a itty bitty little bit of nothin' Congratulations Momma & Poppa to Remy Merry Christmas your life has just taken on a blessing you have yet to realize so behave :thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm going to update on him in a few minutes. He is definitely a part of the family now.

Aww, Remy is too cute. I don't know much about dogs because I've never had one, but I hope his hormones settle down here soon. He's too cute. You're so sweet to bring him home. :)

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

He has settled down really well, I'm going to post a bit more in a few minutes.

I really enjoyed the Fantasmic! pictures. I have been places where the mooing thing has worked too - kind of surprised it didn’t in that situation!

Thanks! I'm surprised it didn't work as well!

Love the Christmas Pluto merch. So cute!!!

Awww - Remy is so cute. I love the driving pic. Hopefully, he can settle into the family and be able to get over some of his neuroses - poor little thing.

He has settled in really well and he is now part of the family.

Good morning Ariana (and Jim too) - I wanted to stop by to wish you...

Thanks, I hope your Christmas was wonderful!

Love the picture of Jim with the puppy. :goodvibes

To you, Jim and all your family, a very

Thanks, I hope you had a Merry Christmas as well!

Have a Merry Christmas Eddie, Alex, Sierra & Remy ( oh yeah and your people too ;) )

Love from Fantasia, Midgee, Lily, Belle, Gilbert, Emily, Disney, and Maxine ( and our people too ! )

Awwwww, thanks! I hope your time at Pop was wonderful and you had a great Christmas.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I've got two real life updates for you then I will post the next installment for the TR. Once I finish that, I will get caught back up on everyone else's TRs & PTRs.

So first of all Remy. Did we end up keeping him? Of course we did! There was no way we could take that little baby back to the shelter after having him in our home for a week. We haven't done the official paperwork yet but that will be done this coming weekend. He had completely settled in, all of the little neurotic behaviors of the first couple of days are gone. He does still try to hump both Alex and Eddie once in a while but it's way less than the first couple of days.

On Monday night, Sierra engaged him in play and they had a blast chasing each other through the house. She has since taught him how to play her favorite game, tug of war. Alex took a little longer but he finally started to play with him this morning. It was very cute to watch Alex letting the little guy "win" when they were playing tug of war. So I'm guessing you want some pictures right?

Here he is after a hard day of play with Sierra:

Hanging out with his new brothers:

Discovering the joy of toys!

That last picture is my favorite of him so far.

Moving on to Christmas. Christmas Eve, Jim and I ran to Petsmart and bought some supplies for the new guy. Then we had a nice lunch at Long Horn Steakhouse and went to see Saving Mr. Banks. We both loved the movie!

Christmas day we opened our gifts then watched the Disney Christmas Parade (well I did, Jim just played with his new lego set). In the afternoon I spent a couple of hours on Facetime watching my family up north opening their presents. My Mom and SIL both loved their Disney related gifts.

I got a few Disney related gifts myself. My DB and SIL got me this Pluto shirt:

It's long sleeved so it should be perfect for February. They also got me this stuffed Pluto they found in an antique store.

My Mom got me a Thomas Kinkade Disney print. I have the Lion King and Cinderella Castle so I asked for Bambi this year.

And finally, my SIL (Jim's sister) got us these Disney stepping stones.

I also spent some of my time off working on a project that I will tell you about in the next post.

I think everyone on here knows that I collect Pluto stuff and have quite the extensive collection. What I don't think anyone knows is that I also collect Teddy Bears. My Teddy Bear collection rivals my Pluto one. And yes I do know I have a collecting problem. :rotfl: Besides the bears and Plutos I collect:

Hall China in the Crocus Pattern:

And Gobel Birds:

I tend to collect stuff for a while and then when I get tired of it, sell everything off and start on something else. My Pluto collection is the only one I have had since I was a small girl. Other stuff I have collected over the years include Ty Beanie Babies, Breyer Horses, Pepsi Glasses and Troll Dolls. Jim would also say I collect costume jewelry and shoes but that's because he's a man and just doesn't understand the need to have more than one pair of shoes or jewelry at all.

Let's back track to the real subject here, my Bear Room. I mostly collect Boyds but there are some Russ, Bearington, Ty and other brands mixed in. At last count, I have over 700. The room I display them in was getting way out of control. Jim uses the closet in that room and he was calling me a hoarder because he only had a path to get to his closet. When my Mom was here in November, we went to Ikea and I got three new sets of shelves to help get the bears up off the floor.

Here are some before pictures of the room so you can see how bad it had gotten.

Jim's "path" to his closet:

I had to take all the bears that were on the floor out of the room so I could build the shelves. They all got moved into my guest bedroom which then looked like this:

There are more bears on the far side of the bed but I couldn't get back there to take a picture.

I spent Christmas Eve night putting together the three sets of shelves.

I didn't get back to the project until yesterday when I started moving the bears back into the room.

My guest bedroom now looks like this:

Sigh, I've still got a long way to go, don't I? I need to get the guest bedroom cleared out so I can start laying out my stuff for Disney in February!

Tuesday, October 22 was our off day from the parks. I don’t usually take a day off but with Jim along, I decided a rest day was in order. My original plans for the day was to sleep in a bit, head to DTD for shopping, lunch and Disney Quest and finally wrapping the evening up with dinner at the Hoop De Do Revue. That all changed when my Mom got us a Wilderness Back Trail Adventure Tour at Fort Wilderness for our Anniversary. The tour was at 11:30 am so I had to rethink the whole day.

I knew we would be on the tour around lunch time so we would need to eat something more substantial for breakfast that what we had in the room. I also found out that Ruthie who is Luvchefmic here on the DIS would be able to meet us for breakfast that morning. She lives in Florida and works nights so she was going to swing by CSR on her way home. We decided to meet at 8 am for breakfast. Ruthie and I had been talking for a while through the DIS and e-mail and had found common interests in our love for Disney, Pluto and the rescue work we both do with animals.

Jim and I ended up getting up around 6:30 am, there was really no need to sleep in much since we had gone to bed so early the night before. We left the room at 7:40 to walk over to El Centro. On the way there we were distracted by a little friend we saw in the lake. Sorry these are a bit fuzzy, it was very humid that morning and my camera lens fogged up a little.

He was just a baby and that was the only time we saw him all week even though we looked for him every time we passed that spot.

It was a hot, hazy day as you can tell by this picture.

Or maybe it was just my camera lens. I took this one after wiping it off.

If you’ve read some of my past TRs you will know I’m a little on the shy side. It took me over a year of lurking before I started posting on the DIS boards. I still fret over every post I make because I don’t want to ever hurt someone’s feelings or say something to offend. Jim says there are only two places I come out of my shell and that is at Disney and at the animal shelter where I volunteer. So I was very nervous going to this meet and greet. I never worry about whether or not I’m going to like the person, I’ve very easy going and it’s rare that I meet someone I don’t like. What I do worry about is whether they are going to like me. I think it probably stems back to being in the unpopular crowd in school.

We got to the fountain in the lobby where we were meeting Ruthie. I spotted her immediately talking to a CM at Bell Services. She said for us to wait for a minute she had something to take care of and she disappeared around the corner with the CM.

She was back in just a minute and we headed to Pepper Market to eat breakfast. Pepper Market is set up a bit differently than other CS places. You are actually seated at a table and have a waitress that brings out the drinks. The waitress gives you a card and you take that to the different food stations and get it stamped with your choice. It was a little confusing at first but we figured it out.

Jim ordered a Southwestern Omelet that came with home fries. The big gap on his plate had an orange and strawberry that he ate before I had a chance to take the picture. It was the same as the one on my plate.

I got Mickey Waffles which came with a choice of sausage or bacon. As you can see I choose sausage.

I have no idea what Ruthie got to eat, I didn’t really pay attention.

Right as we sat down to eat, the CM that Ruthie had been talking too came to our table with a balloon and an anniversary card signed by Pluto! That was so sweet of her to set that up for us. The CM (I wish I could remember his name, he was really nice) took a picture for us.

And here’s some pictures of the card I took later that day.

I haven’t gotten it done yet but I plan on framing the picture to put in my Pluto room.

So did Ruthie and I get along? Of course we did, I had nothing to worry about! We talked non-stop for at least an hour while we ate. We became instant real life friends.

The food was just ok. I enjoyed my Mickey Waffles but the sausage was way too spicy for me. I ended up giving it to Jim and he ate it. I guess he liked his food, he ate it all, but I was too busy talking to ask him.

After we finished eating and talking, we decided to stop in Rix Cafe next door to get our mugs. We had forgotten to pick them up previously. I’m sad to say we didn’t use them even one time since we had the sodas and water in the room from Garden Grocer. Jim decided to get purple and I got green.

While we were eating I mentioned that we would have to leave by 10 am so we could bus to MK, take a boat to FW then an internal bus to the bike barn where our tour was. Ruthie said no way were we doing that, she would drive us on her way home. That was just so sweet of her and we really appreciated it. Especially after the boat fiasco we had later that day.

Jim volunteered to take the balloon, card and mugs back to our room so Ruthie and I did some browsing in Panchitos while we waited on him. They had their big pin board out so I did some trading. We also had our picture taken in the store but the photo was not on my camera. I think the girl that took it did not press all the way down on the button. Maybe Ruthie can post her version? We also walked down to the Maya Grill, checked it out and used the restroom in that area.

We walked back to the fountain and I took some pictures as we walked.

We then had a seat in the lobby as Jim was still not back. We talked some more and I finally called him to see where he was. He thought we were going to come pick him up by the room and hadn’t even started back to the lobby yet! He headed out then and was back in no time. Ruthie drove us over to FW and dropped us off at the internal bus stop at about 10:30 am.

I'm so glad Remy has adapted so quickly, he certainly is adorable!

I'm glad you had a nice Christmas! I too saw Saving Mr. Banks and loved it! And I'm glad mom and SIL loved their Disney gifts!

Omgosh SO many bears!! I love it!

I'm glad you had a lovely meet with your friend :)

OK - I've only read the two IRL updates so far... I will be back later to check out the TR update. :)

First - so glad you kept Remy... You are the best pet parents ever, and he will live a long and lucky life with you - I just know it. Congratulations!

Secondly - I don't collect bears... but your collection is simply Ahhhh-mazing! I cannot believe how many you have! And I loved that there was only a path to the closet - however - I think Jim should be reminded that it was a nice and orderly path... It's not as if everything was strewn about. :) I can sort-of relate, since the girls and I have been collecting American Girl dolls for years... Our collection isn't quite that large, but it's a pretty massive collection just the same. It's hard to believe how much space it takes up in our house. But there are a lot of great memories there for us... I know Josh wishes I would sell it some day - maybe to pay for a few of our vacations or a couple years of college... but I just cannot do it.

I hope that with the new shelves, you are able to enjoy your bear collection more. ;)

D~

Okay, So i know I've read most of the updates, but maybe I didn't post a reply?? :confused3

Great updates, looks like despite the heat you guys were having a blast of a time! Glad that 50's was a success, such a great interaction and service there, I will definitely have to try it again one of these days!

Fantasmic fp+ really is just a waste, we used it in Oct and were about as far down as you guys if not farther. For Dec we simply arrived when I normally would have and got great seats right beside the dinner package ones, the cast members were even saying that it was a waste of a fast pass.

Glad that Remy is fitting in with the family and adjusting to new life, he's so cute!!

Ariana, I love your Pluto Christmas gifts. :goodvibes

And on the teddy bears...all I can say is WOW! That is a whole lot of teddy bears.

I'm so happy to see one of "Ali's" relatives back in the lagoon at CSR. We've had a couple of gators there during our stays.

I'm so happy that your DIS meet with Ruthie went so well. I'm not surprised at all. :)

Told you I'd be back. :thumbsup2:

Great update!

So happy you got to meet Ruthie and you were instant friends! Dis friends are the BEST! It sounds like you had a wonderful breakfast together.

The resort looks awesome - we have never even visited that one, and we have seen quite a few of them... It looks so HUGE though.

Can't wait to hear how your tour went.

I hope you have a Happy New YEar!

We are glad too because if he hadn't worked out it would have been really hard to take him back to the shelter.

I'm glad you had a nice Christmas! I too saw Saving Mr. Banks and loved it! And I'm glad mom and SIL loved their Disney gifts!

Omgosh SO many bears!! I love it!

I do have a few bears, don't I? :rotfl: My Mom really feeds my addiction, she gets me new ones all the time.

I'm glad you had a lovely meet with your friend :)

Thanks, it was a really nice meet.

Great pics! :goodvibes

Thanks!

First - so glad you kept Remy... You are the best pet parents ever, and he will live a long and lucky life with you - I just know it. Congratulations!

Thanks, despite the fact that the last thing we needed was a fourth dog, he has already become a family member. I can't imagine how we ever managed without him before. ::yes::

I agree, I don't know what he was complaining about. :confused3 :rotfl2: I blame my Mom for the collection, she actually bought me my first two bears and continues to buy new ones for me all the time! I've tried to thin the collection out by getting rid of ones that aren't my favorites. Problem is, they are all my favorite!

I hope that with the new shelves, you are able to enjoy your bear collection more. ;)

D~

I hope so too. I don't think I'm going to get all of them up off the floor but hopefully there will be a lot more floor space than before!

Okay, So i know I've read most of the updates, but maybe I didn't post a reply?? :confused3

Great updates, looks like despite the heat you guys were having a blast of a time! Glad that 50's was a success, such a great interaction and service there, I will definitely have to try it again one of these days!

50's was a lot of fun but it does depend on the server. We had one in 2010 that was just no fun at all and it kind of ruins the experience.

Fantasmic fp+ really is just a waste, we used it in Oct and were about as far down as you guys if not farther. For Dec we simply arrived when I normally would have and got great seats right beside the dinner package ones, the cast members were even saying that it was a waste of a fast pass.

Yeah, it was pretty much a waste I won't be using it again. Of course I'm not sure what else I would use my two second tier FPs on since Star Tours is pretty much out for me.

Glad that Remy is fitting in with the family and adjusting to new life, he's so cute!!

Thanks, we love him!

Ariana, I love your Pluto Christmas gifts. :goodvibes

Thanks, my family knows me well, don't they?

And on the teddy bears...all I can say is WOW! That is a whole lot of teddy bears.

Yep, it is a lot of teddy bears!

I'm so happy to see one of "Ali's" relatives back in the lagoon at CSR. We've had a couple of gators there during our stays.

I really enjoyed seeing him. We saw some other wildlife later in the trip but I'll save those pictures for later.

I'm so happy that your DIS meet with Ruthie went so well. I'm not surprised at all. :)

I was really glad that it went well too!

Told you I'd be back. :thumbsup2:

I never doubted that you would be!

DIS friends are the best! And we did have a wonderful breakfast.

The resort looks awesome - we have never even visited that one, and we have seen quite a few of them... It looks so HUGE though.

It is very large but neither Jim or I mind walking. It's very similar in size to both CBR and POR.

Can't wait to hear how your tour went.

I hope you have a Happy New YEar!

Tour update coming up next!

Once Ruthie dropped us off, we caught an internal bus very quickly. We were headed to the Meadow stop because our tour started at the bike barn. We were a bit early when we got there so we browsed through the Meadow Trading Post. The store was pretty empty so I asked a CM at the register if they had a pin board I could look at. He started telling me that they only got it out at a certain time but a manager standing there told him to go ahead and get it out for me. The board was HUGE! I immediately saw three pins I wanted and knew the limit was two but the CM said take as many as you want. I ended up just trading for the three I saw at the beginning.

After that, we sat and relaxed on the back porch of the store till about 11:15 then headed over to the bike barn to check in for the tour.

The Wilderness Back Trail Adventure is a Segway tour of the Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge areas. There are only 8 guests allowed on each tour and it’s only run two times a day at 8:30 am and 11:30 am. It lasts about 2 hours and is open to guests 16 and older. This is currently the only Segway Tour available at WDW since the Epcot one was discontinued. I had actually planned on doing the Epcot one with Jim but then found out they were no longer doing it. I had never even heard of the Fort Wilderness tour but Mom must have remembered me wanting to do one and found it for us.

We started off by watching a short movie about the Segway and then one of the two guides gave us a quick demonstration. During that time, someone asked about the Epcot tour and why it was canceled. The CM said not to worry about that tour, it was an “A ticket” attraction and the one we were on was an “E ticket”. Not everyone got that so he had to explain. He did go on to say that the Epcot one had to be discontinued because when they expanded the Character Spot, the area where the Segways were stored and training took place was used for the expansion. There was just no other area in Epcot to put the Segways.

We were then given our helmets, a bottle of water and earpieces and the guides checked our bags to make sure they were small enough to go in the pouch on the Segway. Jim’s was not but they locked it in a cabinet in the room so we didn’t have to rent a locker.

Then we headed out to the practice area to learn how to ride.

My plan was to take lots of pictures but the Segway scared the heck out of me so there was no way I was taking any pictures while we were moving. We did make some stops and I got pictures then. Jim was not scared at all.

We learned how to get on and off the Segway and then how to drive it forward, turn and then go back.

I don’t look too scared here do I? Well believe me I was!

We did some weaving in and out of cones and then did a little off-roading in the grass to get the hang of that. I’m afraid I was very slow and kept holding up the group. But I was proud that I never hit one of the cones. If you hit something, a really loud alarm would go off and I didn't want to be the one to do that!

Then we started off on the tour. Jim somehow ended up right behind the guide which put me second in the line. That meant I had to keep up so I wasn’t holding up everyone else behind us. While I never felt 100% comfortable on the thing I did get used to it enough that I was able to relax some.

We didn’t go too far before we stopped for a restroom break right where Chip & Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long is held. It was pretty easy to park the Segway along the rail there. You just had to step off and let the machine go forward again the rail.

We headed out again and through Fort Wilderness. Our guide kept up a constant stream of facts about FW and the local flora and wildlife. It was easy to hear him through the earpiece and while the information was interesting it was way too much for me to remember.

As we rode through the campground, we got to see some of the Halloween decorations. At one point, I saw a tombstone with a lime green Mickey head and something about the DIS boards on it. We went by so fast though, I wasn’t able to read it all.

We stopped near Bay Lake and got off so we could take some pictures. It was beautiful there.

We also had the opportunity to pose for some shots that one of the guides took.

Next we stopped at the Tri-Circle-D ranch and went into the stables to see the Percherons.

The Percherons were gorgeous! The guide told us the only time they are ridden is for MNSSHP. The black one in the pictures above was quite the ham and kept tossing his head looking for attention. There were signs saying not to pet them but the guides let us do it any way.

In a side room, there was a small museum dedicated to the history of the horses at WDW. See the plastic horses in the case in this picture?

Those are the Breyer Horses I used to collect as a little girl! I really didn’t have room for them so I sold them a few years ago.

We continued on and rode all the way to the Wilderness Lodge. We stopped again along Bay Lake and the guides did some Disney trivia with us. I did fairly well although I did not know who Donald Duck’s sister was. She’s the mother of Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Anyone know? I’ll post the answer in the next installment. I was able to answer that Daisy’s nieces are April, May and June. I knew that because I read a TR where three friends went as them to MNSSHP!

We were right across from the Contemporary and the view was spectacular.

When we stopped there, we parked our Segways on an uphill slope. One of the guides had extra stuff on his handlebars and his Segway was not balanced, got away and almost crashed into the lake. It was pretty funny but he was not too amused about it.

As we boarded our Segways to leave, we saw a deer a little down the path. I had already stowed away my camera so I wasn’t able to get a picture. Not too long after we started out again, my earpiece made a popping noise and stopped working. I knew we were almost done so I wasn’t going to worry too much but then I realized I was basically riding “blind”. The guide in the lead would give us directions and tell us when we were going to stop or turn so we didn’t run into each other. So the first time we stopped, I yelled ahead to Jim to let him know I couldn’t hear. We had to stop the whole tour so that the guides could see what was wrong. Of course Jim immediately started teasing me saying I must have broken it. It turned out that the battery had just died and one of the guides switched with me and we got back underway.

We finished up back at the bike barn where we started. Overall it was a wonderful tour and other than being a little scared of the Segway I had a blast. Jim I think could have gone on all day he was having so much fun. I will say that the Segways are not comfortable to ride. My legs were killing me by the end of the ride. I thought maybe it was because of my bad ankle but Jim said his hurt too.

For going on the tour, we each got a special pin. I was excited because it was such a unique pin. Here it is along with the three I traded for at the Meadow Outpost.

And a closer look:

Up Next: In Awe of the Legos

Just got home from work and have to be back 7pm to 7:30 am :scared: so please forgive no comments from me right now ...I send love and Happy New Year to you Ariana, Jim , 4 doggies and all our dis friends/family .....Bring on 2014 I am SO ready for a new year :cheer2:....hey I have bears for you :lmao:

The tour looks like fun. I always wondered how those Segways would be on the legs...now I know. You got some great photos, and the tour guide got some great ones of you too.

I wish you, Jim and all of your furbabies a VERY

the tour looks pretty interesting! I gotta say, segways at FW seem interesting enough! I would think they'd do a walking one, or like, horseback one there lol!

Glad you had a fun time and learnt lots of stuff! Those horses are gorgeous! And great pin trades!

What an interesting tour! I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, looks like you got to see some cool things. And what a nice pin they gave you too! :) Have a Happy New Year!

HOw awesome! That tour looks great! And I am so proud of you for not running into anything - I know I'd either hit something, or drag something behind me. LOL

The views on the tour look great!

I cannot wait to hear the answer of your trivia question, I think I know it, but I am not certain.

So happy that Jim enjoyed the tour too... I hope that means he sees more to Disney than just the people and the parks - maybe he'll go back a little more frequently for you?

And finally - that is one AWESOME pin!!! How cool!

I hope you have a Happy New YEar~!
