I am terrified of the coasters they have at Six Flags - big scary drops and wooden coasters that jolt and bump and throw you all over the place - but I loved Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad the last time I was at WDW in '94. I found that the theme was more prominent than scaring the heck out of you, and that they were much tamer than I expected, and I enjoyed them more than I thought I would. I really like Aerosmith and would love to ride Rock N Roller Coaster, BUT, I'm freaked out. Can you tell me how rough it is? Is it closer to Space Mountain or Rolling Thunder/Scream Machine? Is it in the dark, so at least you can't see how scary it really is? I think that seeing what is coming is part of the terror... Please help me to decide if I should brave this ride!

:scared1:

The ride itself is very smooth. I mean I dont feel to be bounced around. You start out and go from 0 - 60mph in about 2.8 seconds and then you go through a loop. There are some twists and turns and a corkscrew loop but you can't see them so by the time you realize you are going upside down, its already over. The ride is great and I love it but I love all roller coasters.

It is in the dark so you can't really see the track but there are props and things that glow that you can see.

I am just like you!! I hate most roller coasters. I had never been on it until our last trip. I made a deal with my then 6 year old son. He was finally tall enough to ride it. I told him to go on it once and if he liked it I would go on it with him. I figured that he would hate it. Wrong!! He loved it. So I went on it. I was more than a little nervous the first time. I love it now!! It is in the dark, but I kept my eyes open. It is actually fun!! I would recommend trying it at least one time. I would say it is comparable to Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain..

I'm afraid of roller coasters -- have never been on Big Thunder Mountain or Splash or Space Mountains.

However, because of the heavy duty restraint system in Rock n roller coaster I felt it would be safe to try and I enjoyed it and felt very secure.

I feel like an idiot saying I'm going to have to summon up all my courage to get on Big Thunder Mountain, but the thought of a drop with no restraint holding me in seriously bothers me. I loved Mission Space and liked Tower of Terror (though it does scare me) so I'm not a total weenie.

Like the original poster -- it's the (thought of the) drop that terrifies me.

Part of the fear of going on some of those roller coasters in the major theme parks (like 6 flags) is that all of those roller coasters are outdoors and you get to see the size and magnitude of the ride before you get on. With the rock and roll roller coaster you don't have that fear buildup from what you have already visualized. The ride itself is pretty tame. Yes you shoot out like the previous poster indicated and there is one loop but the experience is in the dark like space mountain. There is loud aerosmith music blaring out so if you like the band you partly into the music and adds to the experience.

You shouldn't have a problem.

Its is much faster than the other WDW rollercoasters and does toss you around a bit, but I would consider it tamer than the big roller coasters at other parks.

The theme is great: You're on a music studio tour and Aerosmith is finishing their rehearsal and they invite you to their concert across town, but it starts real soon. The band's manager arranges a limo (the coaster) for you and away you go...

Much of the ride is dark or semi-dark. You are launched at a high rate of speed at the start of the ride (instead of pulled up a hill and dropped) right into a loop (it's in the dark so you may not realize right away) then a lot of drops, twists and turns. The ride completes rather quickly.

Have fun!

Alright! I was afraid I would miss out, so I'm glad I asked. I'm doing it!!! Thanks so much!

:teeth:

THANKS am planning on trying it this Sept.... my sister dont do roller coaster so am the only who does it now... I can do spalsh mountain, thunder moutain... but the last time I did space mountain was back in Disneyland in 98.... so can anybody hold my hand....

My DH hates rollercoasters but LOVES RNR - he loved it so much we had to do it again (now I had already done it on my previous trips but I was so happy he enjoyed it) Now if only I can talk him into the 3 mountains at MK in September. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

If you don't like being tossed around, I find that the seats toward the front of the car are smoother than the back. Anyone else feel this way?

I was afraid of roller coasters, the thing that freaked me out were big drops. Even the drop on Space Mt. still freaks me out. One of the only reasons I ever went on Rockn'Roller is because there aren't any drops.

It's true, the only real drop, (if you want to think of it as a drop) is comming down from a loop.

Ok I will take your word for it.. I can do this.. I can do this.. I can do this....I used to be a Roller coaster Freak... I woke up one morning bones aching.. realized I got old.. and got scared... :confused3

Regarding the lack of drops, it's basically true. Since RnR uses the momentum of the initial launch to propel you through the ride, there is no need for the initial hill climb and descent that most coasters require.

You'll still get a lot of twists and turns on the ride, along with the three inversions. But I find it to be one of the smoothest coasters I've ever ridden. Very fun! :teeth:

Even if there is someone in your group who isn't going to ride, they should go through the line to see the theming & the pre-show. They are fantastic! There is a chicken exit just before you get in the "limo". It leads to the gift shop where the ride exits, so you can all meet there.
Enjoy! :sunny:

OMG!!!!! My favorite ride ever!!!!!!!!! It makes you feel as if you are really riding down a street racing to get to the concert! You can't see the tracks and that makes even more exciting, when you know that there are loops and corkskrew turns and just anticipating it makes it so much more fun! With the music in the background the ride is unparalled! The part that always makes me nervous is the start. Just siting there in the limo glaring at the screen as you hear Aerosmith in the back yelling and waiting for that red light to turn green. My legs always begin to shake a little (but not from fright, mostly the anticipation for the start) The pull you feel at the very begining is like a drop in Tower of Terror. I LOVE roller coasters especially ones with loops and turns but the "drop" feeling scares me! I don't know why! I love it when the light turns green and we really take off like lightning! NO ride can ever be better than Rock 'n' Roller Coaster!!!!!!!!!

This is my favorite ride!!!! I LOVE the take-off. It is amazing. I have never lost my stomach going forward before this ride. There is nothing scary about it in my opinion. It is very smooth and there are no big drops. Just little dips! Isay do it. You'll love it. :hyper:

Yeah, it isn't scary! but even though there aren't big drops, the first take off certainlly does the trick! and the loops and corkskrew finish it off!!!!

RnR is the best!
The first time we took the kids DS was 8 and DD was 12. It became our favorite ride. We rode it 7 times that first weekend.
It is now the reason that we do MGM the 1st day and last day on our trips.

We'll be Rockin' again in 149 days for Christmas!
