I,m a total wimp when it comes to rides, test track is about my level. DH is trying to convince me to try this. He says it's so fast that you dont realise that it goes upside down? How bad is it really. Gill

It all depends on your tolerance levels, it is a fast indoor roller coaster.

Have you ridden Space Mountain?

Each ride has a different effect on people, I don't mind coasters but a kiddie ride that spins (such as Cat In The Hat at Islands Of Adventure) makes me feel ill.

Ultimatley you probably won't know until you try it.

The upside down bit is not the problem for me, its true that because you are in the dark and going at speed you're not really aware of whats happening. the worst bit for me is the launch, 0-60mph in 6.8 secs I think. the force of this on my stomach is about my physical limit but the feeling is only for 10 secs max, once I'm past the launch, the rest of the ride is easy. I think everyone should try it, otherwise how do they know for themselves? Good luck,

i had never been on a roller coaster before going on rock n roller coaster and now it is my favourite ride!! its over so quick you dont know what you were worried about, i agree the worst bit is the launch but once thats over its brilliant you cant tell your going upside down at all.try it you will be surprised at what you can do!

I don't mean to frighten you, but the launch is actually 0-60 MPH in 2.8 seconds! Ride videos are available right here on the DIS. The ride only lasts 1 minute and 15 seconds.
The launch, and it is indeed a *launch*, is the most intense part. After that, it's just fast and fun. It took me probably 5 rides before I could actually open my eyes during the launch.
They take your photo just as the ride starts and the expressions on peoples faces are priceless!
:scared1:   :woohoo:

TRY it it's fantastic i love this ride like others have said the launch is the worst part but it is too good of a ride too miss :thumbsup2

I don't usually like upside down coasters but LOVE Rock'n'Rollercoaster :cool1: it is my favorite ride in MGM!

Give it a try :thumbsup2

I found the ride itself fine but the way the restraint came over me it hurt my ears when it twisted and turn as I kept banging my head against them.

It's a fantastic ride. If you are a little unsure then you can alway try Space Mountain and The Mummy. Both of these rides are in the dark and although nothing really compares to RNR it wil give you a feel for what it is like.

As others have said ~ Give it a try, if you can. It really is a great ride.

Once we got to the point where we knew what to expect from the launch, we began to plan poses for the photo! :drive: :car:

DW says the same thing and it really puts her off riding it, which is a shame as it is my favourite ride at WDW :teeth: It does tend to throw you around a lot though which is probably because you can't really see where you are going and so you can't brace yourself in one direction or another.

Personally I love the launch and the only thing that I think is wrong with this ride is that it's over too quickly :(

I say try it and then decide :thumbsup2

thanks everyone, i suppose i can tolerate anything for 2 minutes or less, i may well give it a go Gill

There is a "chicken exit" just before you get into the actual ride car, if you really feel that you can't ride after seeing the launch. Just tell the loading CM and they will show you the exit to the giftshop where you can wait for the rest of your group that will be riding. It is well worth seeing the pre-show and the clever theming of the ride. Just be sure to keep your head straight forward and against the headrest for the launch. Oh yes, and eyes open!!!
Try it! You'll be glad you did! :thumbsup2

You're strapped in. Tight. It's not like you can fall out - give it a go, it's great fun!

I hate upside rides and wouldn't go on them. I went on the ride in July and if I hadn't read your post I woldn't have known it went upside down. It is really fast so maybe that is why I can't remember. I thought it was great a a bit similar to The Mummy Return at US

I agree with everyone that has said that the launch bit is the worse - it's the bit where it backs up ever so slightly, my heart is beating that fast that sometimes i am sure i could just get off there and then!!! I try to sing along to the song playing in your ears (but after going on the ride at least 8 times I still can't remember which song it is :confused3 )

The upside down bit is ok, you just lift out of your seat a tiny bit :rotfl: and every time we have ridden it I am always scared that Lucy has fallen out....:thumbsup2

Until I went to MGM in 1999, I had a rollercoaster phobia! You couldn't get me anywhere near one that went upside down. RNR was the very first upside down coaster that my sister got me to go on. I must admit, I did make it halfway out the 'chicken exit'. Unfortunately, my sister caught me escaping and quickly dragged me back to the queue and towards a gate... and for that I will be forever grateful!!! I haven't looked back since.

Although it wasn't until I went on Kraken in 2001 (was still being built when we went the first time) that my coaster phobia was totally cured (now I wanna go on stuff that my sister doesn't!), but it was down to RNR that it was possible; it provided that very crucial building block.

It comparison to other rollercoasters in Orlando, it's pretty tame. I think there is like 2 upside down loops, and that's it. They are both over very fast, and by the time you realise you're upside down, you're back up the right way again. Personally, I think it's one of the best rides for introducing you to inverted rollercoasters, even if your ears do come off a little red!!! My top tip would be, don't sit in the front and deffo don't sit in the back. The back is worst for ear-bashing, and the front, well, it's the front ;-)
