Rock n Roller Coaster Rocks!

I agree that this ride is definitely one of Disney's best thrill rides. I've always wondered, though, if they just stuck a few disco or strobe lights in the main show building during the ride what it would be like... it could probably up the thrill factor a little more and be more inkeeping with the Aerosmith rock show theme.

I am going to do this for the first time next May. I carry a backpack with my camera equipment in it. Can I securely hold onto this while riding RnR?

Yes it should, but three words.

HANG ON TIGHT! :p

They take the picture at the take off, so we made a game. Try to smile during it, it is fun trying to smile, but very, VERY difficult thing to do. :teeth:

Funny story :rotfl2:

My mom rode the RnR 3 times. She was 73 at the time. Yes I said 73. We took her with us in 03 and she loves riding any type of thrill ride. It was really funny that I pushed her up in her wheelchair, and then she loaded into the car. People were asking if my mother was going to ride this :earseek:, I said sure!! When the ride ended, my mother was getting out of her car and people were cheering :cheer2: . She said that was one of the best rides she had ever been on because she loved the musis playing while riding upside down.

And if your wondering yes, she rode ToT 3 times also.

Good for your mom, alwayspooh!!!! I know that when I'm 73, I'll be doing the same thing!

I am a BIG, HUGE chicken!!! DH wants to try RnR, but I am afraid I will have a heart attack just standing in line!!!:scared: I DO ride Space Mountain...in fact, I like it. I HATED ToT. I have also never riden anything that goes upside down. :rolleyes2

Whatcha think? Will I live? Can you tell me anything to ease my fears? Would it be best for my first "upside down" ride was one where I can see where I am going before I attempt RnR in mostly darkness? Your thoughts? TIA!!!

I agree! It is one of WDW's best but it is also too short. If they could lengthen it to the size of California Screamin', that would be totally awesome. :cool1:

I love Rock and Rollercoaster, i just wish the music would be louder. I know each car has 9 subwoofers and a large number of speakers. My car has 1 subwoffer and only 4 speakers and is MUCH louder. I know they could turn up the volume, although I am sure many people would not like much louder... but I would

I totally agree!!! I would love this music cranked up! I love this ride, and it is my ONLY complaint! :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cool1:

Glad you enjoyed the ride, Laura, and loved your picture, btw! :goodvibes

This past January was the first time my kids met the height requirement for RnRC. We happened to be at MGM on two EMH nights and in those two nights we rode it 14 times!! :faint: The last ride was the best. It was two minutes to closing, and we were the only ones on the ride. We pulled up at the end, and the CM said, "do you want to ride again"? They pointed us to the back door, and we walked right through and out to the other side and hopped right back on again to ride the last ride of the night all by ourselves. :cool2:

The funniest part is, we live near the Aerosmith boys and see them around town here and there. My kids were never quite sure what the fuss was about until they rode RnRC. Then they got it: those were the guys who had their own ride at Disney!! :earseek: Now they're very impressed! :rotfl:

I am also a huge fan or RnR. I finally got DFi on it last year and he loved it to. We rode it several times that week and that is our first stop this year. Although it and ToT are very different types of rides, while I like ToT I love RnR.

Ride RnRC! Ride it, ride it, RIDE it! :)

My GF was a big ride chicken before we went for the first time. She still hates ToT, but will do it with me once each trip just to humor me. She loves RnRC, as do I.. we've ridden it at least 15 or so times apiece. :)

You said you ride Space Mountain, and you like it. Well, there you go. I ride Space at least once a trip, but it's not a favorite, because it's too darn jerky. RnRC is faster and does go upside down, but it is also a LOT smoother.

Also, since you're in the dark, you don't get the sense of height like you do on the ToT. No big drops, either. Just big, fast curves... and , yes, three inversions, two of which occur near the beginning of the ride, one after another, and in such quick succesion, it's hard to tell you're upside down. :) Really, even though it goes upside down and has a fast launch, RnRC is relatively tame compared to some of the modern coasters at Universal and Busch Gardens.

Also, about the glasses... we both have an elastic band that we bought at a sporting goods supply store that we tighten before we get on the thrill rides. Never had a problem with losing our glasses. And as someone who has ridden with AND without glasses, it's SO much better when you can see everything!

As far as camera equipment-- the footwells are pretty deep. I just put my leg through the strap of my camcorder bag, then hold the bag between my feet. Nice and secure and never a problem.

It's my absolute favorite ride at WDW. Don't miss it!

Well, dh wore his glasses (see pic) and he was fine. We didn't carry anything with us, we left it with my sister and my youngest dd who didn't want to ride. The reason it took us so long to get around to riding it the first time was neither of our dds wanted to ride it before and hubby and I didn't want to ride alone. We decided since my sister and nephew were with us this trip we would get to ride and my oldest decided to go for it. We all loved it!

Linda- 14x!!! :earseek: I'm impressed! I wish Chloé and I could ride it in Dec., but there's no way Shelby will get on! She screamed all the way through Space mountain...
Yeah, I bet your kids are impressed with Aerosmith now...how cool is that to have your own rollercoaster! :smooth:

iluvcountry- I'm smiling in the pic! :teeth: In fact I laughed the whole ride, it was great! :rotfl:

MrsTink04- Go with the attitude that it's gonna be fun, not scary! I was so excited to finally get to ride, I was like a little kid in line. :Pinkbounc It is smooth and a great feeling to go upside down! Just let your body go with the flow and keep your head against the headrest like I said and you'll love it!

or corkscrews? Just so I know what to expect!! My kids are going to love!! this ride. They love Aerosmith and rollercoasters!! They are going to :dancer: when they see this one!!

You mean there was music playing and things to see while riding this beast of a coaster? :rotfl:

YIKES the take off had me screaming so loud that I heard nothing! And yes I do believe my eyes were closed as I told myself over and over YOU CAN DO THIS! :cool1:

I guess I willhave to try to relax a bit next time to enjoy a bit of the ride more! :goodvibes

This was our families favorite!! We rode it 7 times the first time we went.

We almost missed the shuttle back to the airport because we had to ride it "one more time"1 :earseek:

My husband and I hate Space Mountain as it is to jerky. In fact he had me ride R and R coaster before he would even go on it so that I could check it out. It is so smooth!!!!! Like I told him it is as smooth as a babys bottom. LOL. To make a long story short he loves it and I do to!!!!

I first rode the RNR during our last trip in 2003. I have rode on Space Mountain on previous visits and was curious how it compared. I asked a kid (12ish) in front of us in line and he said "Space Mountain is lame next to this." I'd never thought of SM as being lame but would agree RNR is a step up.

As far as glasses, I wore my and did not have any problems.

As far as backpacks, I stuck mine down at my feet and it was fine.

Back in five days!

We also will be arriving in 5 days and I can't wait to try RNR for the first time. I like roller coasters and the motion rides but have never been on a ride that goes inverted. My DS(13) has become a roller coaster nut recently with trips to our local Great America and he is looking forward to riding this with me.

RnRC is one of my top 3 rides (actually, attractions in general) at Disney.

I love the whole thing. The waiting room with all the classic rock concert posters. The fake studio. The take off. The Aerosmith songs playing as you're riding - the songs are choreographed perfectly to the movements and turns of the ride...it's awesome.

It's a MUST ride for all but the BIGGEST of BIG chickens.

Okay, that's me. I am the biggest of big chickens. I NEVER ride roller coasters. Ever. Every school trip to every amusement park, I was the one waiting at the exit of the coasters, holding my friends' things.

A couple of weeks ago on our honeymoon, of course I chickened out of RnR and had my DH go on without me. He hates doing this, but he checked it out and told me exactly what to expect (it's really fear of the unknown, isn't it?). So we went to DisneyQuest and created our own coasters on CyberSpaceMountain - trying to mimic what RnR does. I really loved the simulator! I love Star Tours, and simulators in general; knowing we're not actually traveling anywhere really helps me have fun.

I can not tell you how nervous I was in that line and pre-ride. SHAKING! I'd made up my mind though, and I was going to ride it! There was a little girl in front of us with her family and she was terrified too, so I assured her it was going to be great, and that if I could ride it, she definitely could!

Here's the thing: my seat restraint felt too loose. I didn't think I should be able to loosen it so easily, and it freaked me out, and before I could say anything, we were in that launch! Because of this seat thing, I gripped it so tight, trying to "keep it on me". I realize it was probably fine, but in the moment, and being this much of a chicken, I really focused on it. My eyes were closed for most of the ride, and I was silent. Instead of opening my eyes and going with all the curves, I had a really horrible time. My poor DH was talking to me the whole time, "Here we go into the corkscrew!" "Isn't this great?" "You're doing great; it doesn't get any faster than this!"

Well, because my shoulders were so tense since I thought my restraint was too loose, I stiffened so much during the ride that my neck and upper back hurt for the next two days! It was really awful, and a crappy way to end the honeymoon. I know I DID IT, and I have to picture to prove it, but for me it wasn't worth it!

I think I could ride it again, now that I know what to expect, but can you guys tell me that that's the way the restraint is supposed to be? I thought you pull it down and it locks.

Thanks!!!!

Okay, I am a big ride chicken. My DS got me on this thing last time we were there and I hated it, LOL! :earseek: BUT, remember it only lasts about 2-1/2 minutes, so you will live if you go on it. I kept my eyes closed the whole time....only opened them once, and of course it was when we were upside down, lol! He's still trying to talk me into going again when we go in December. :rotfl2:
