I read on another board that Rock n Roller Coaster would be down for rehab from Labor day until the beginning of October, but I cant find any confirmation on it. (Maybe I just dont know where to look). Has anyone heard anything? I will be there at the end of Sept and I am bummed about this!

I still dont know why they'd need 2 rehabs in just over 6 months

probably busted pneumatics and things like that which you wouldn't necessarily see. those speaker systems and all that other expensive stuff is really needy.

just a guess, totally out my rear.

We just returned from two weeks there and they are definitely having some problems with the ride. Sometimes it would sit at the launch area for several minutes before actually launching. Also, the soundrack cut out in the middle of the ride everytime we rode, with only one exception.

Sitting at the launch doesn't necessarily mean problems, it could mean the previous train(s) haven't cleared the requisite safety locations for the launch to begin. However, the soundtrack cutting out does necessitate maintenance.

I thought the previous downtime had something to do with the reworking of the queue.

Regardless, I'm just hoping the maintenance comes after our trip in September.

So is it going to be closing for rehab or not? I used the link that was posted and didn't see it listed. My parents and sister are planning trip at the end of September. They already moved it back from August because of the Haunted Mansion. (they haven't been in over ten years and its my mom's favorite ride.)

Anyway, RnR is one my sister would love and I'd like to be able to let her know if they're planning a rehab or something. Does anyone know?

Edit...
oopps... I was going to post links to 5 other sites with rehabs but I might get in trouble for posting other sites...

but google and "Disney Rehab" is your search...and according to the first 5 or so links then...No it won't be closed....So based on the current information my personal experience with Disney I would say there is a chance the ride will be closed.

Right now it appears to be only a rumor. Here's what's posted on the Touring Plans site:

Rock n' Roller Coaster Refurb Rumors

Rumors are persisting that the Rock n' Roller Coaster at Disney MGM Studios will undergo a refurbishment in September. No official timeframe has shown up yet, but you may want to take this into consideration if you have a trip planned in September.

Thanks, I guess I'll just have to watch and see what comes of this.

The trains were clearing, because when I say several minutes, I'm not exagerrating. It was more than enough time for a train to go through the entire ride and then some, perhaps twice and even three times in some cases. So either they were having trouble resetting the launch (which was rumored) or there were sensor problems where the sensor wasn't recognizing that the train had cleared. I tend to believe the rumor that it was the former, because if there's a faulty sensor, I'd think that would be considered a pretty serious issue.

But I only observed that problem on the first of three days that I rode RnRC. The second two days it was only the soundtrack that had problems.

Won't HM and SE be sown at the same time? I understand ride rehabs, but 3 headliners at once seems like a bad idea and poor planning. I would tend to think that this is only a rumor, just because of that.

It depends on when in September it would take place. HM is scheduled to reopen on the 13th.

When I was there a couple months ago, I was told that they're adding a single-rider que. Then, they're going to clean/repair/adjust all of the tracking and wiring inside, and touch-up/update all of the paint. There aren't any major changes expected - just a cleaner, smoother ride.

So what is the date for this rehab? we are going Sept 2-9 . We're hoping the Haunted Mansion is rehab is done a few days early, but if it isn't and a Rock N roller coaster is down too , it will really put abummer on the trip!:confused3

It is going down 9/5 for 5 weeks. Bums me out that Disney has chosen not to inform the public to this point (we are there right in the middle of the rehab)
