Rock 'n' Roller Coaster--Fact or Rumor?

I'm 26, and was raised on stuff like Aerosmith!!!! I WILL NOT ride RnR if they change it to Hannah Montana or Jo Bros.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HM and Jo Bros. IMO are not rock-n-roll.

When I go to WDW, I see more adults than kids. And most "kids" aren't tall enough to ride RnR.

I LOVE Aerosmith and would be so disappointed if they take them away, even if they put in AC/DC!!!!!!

Not true!! We usually hear this stuff way in advance i.e. I knew Space Mtn. was going down for refurb months b4 it actually did!!

I really hope they don't do this...HM and JB are just a phase that will grow old quickly leaving Disney to scramble to find another office in a few short years. Leave Aerosmith, they are a classic!

Okay, just to set the record straight...

There IS a sign featuring Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers near RnR. But it's NOT announcing a retheming of the attraction. It's located in the new Kid's Area that just opened in Rock'n'Roller Coaster Plaza. It's called "Walt Disney Records On The Road" and is a coloring area similar to the Kidcot stations in Epcot. :)

Firstly, even if they went with a generic opening to the ride, they would still have to pay royalties for whatever songs they played, and I'll bet that wouldn't save any money over there agreement with Aerosmith, heck Warrant gets a huge payday everytime someone uses Cherry Pie for anything.

Even though they have more leverage with there stable of artists, I am sure the disney poppers would still command the same sort of payday, so why spend the money changing anything. It's not like its not huge draw as it is.

The Mythbusters call this one 'busted'

what there changing it?

hannah montana is not "rock and roll", the jonas brothers... i dont know

i like it better the way it is now.
i hope this is just a rumor..

Thanks for this update!! I'm glad to hear they are positioning something in that area to keep kids busy/interested while mom and dad (specifically, my kid - and me and DH ;)) ride RNR. It is located so far away from anything that can keep my 2 yr old occupied while we rider-swap. I think a kid's area is a great idea! :thumbsup2

*HUGE sigh of relief* ;) I'm finally planning of building up enough courage to ride this next summer when I go with DBF but I think the thought of a Hannah Montana/Jonas Brothers themed roller coaster is a little TOO scary! :scared1:

Crisis Averted. :music:

Sorry if this has already been discussed but I did a quick search and didn't find any information regarding what I just heard.

A friend of a friend is visiting Disney at the moment and said that "there's a sign near RnRcoaster saying that it will close at the end of 2009 and in it's place there will be a Hannah Montana/Jonas Brother's attraction."

Could this possibly be true?

:scared:

it's NOT announcing a retheming of the attraction. :yay:

That's a great idea actually.

If not then for older rock band I like the AC/DC idea, but for something newer, I would say perhaps Nickelback, or another popular Rock/Alternative band :confused3

I like the idea too, but that will never happen. Disney would have to pay royalties to each band each time one of their songs was played. If they don't want to pay the royalties to 1 band (Aerosmith), they certainly aren't going to want to pay royalties to a bunch of different bands!:confused3 And this ride was MADE for Aerosmith! I would hate to see them kill the theme.

I could see them adding HM or JB because Disney basically owns them, but this would ruin the ride for a TON of people. In this case, HS would have a major drop in attendance. I mean, they are thinking about getting rid of Fantasmic, which is a HUGE attraction for HS, and now they are going to mess with RRC. They only have ToT left, and 1 ride is not enough to bring people into that particular park, especially since there aren't many places to eat. This will end up being one of those 1/2 day parks (if you even go). I mean my husband and I go to this park for ToT, Fantasmic, RRC, and TGMR. Everything else is pretty much outdated, and we've seen everything 1000 times! :rotfl2:

I hope they don't kill HS, but it won't surprise me if it dies because of lack of attractions. I could see people avoiding this park altogether and taking the day they normally would for HS and going to Universal. :sad2:

Just a few thoughts :grouphug:

I just heard from one of the bus drivers that RnR is going to be re-themed for older folks.

It's going to be a Barry Manilow ride and the music will be Copacabana! :lmao:

+1 for AC/DC or KISS, hard to pick!

Thankfully, the rumor has been squashed! But to add my vote--another +1 for AC/DC. Although, I am perfectly happy with Aerosmith blasted in my ear, I think Shook Me All Night Long would be a perfect replacement. Maybe not too appropriate but who pays attention to the words anyways!

Don't forget they have TSM, too...

Sounds like a joke. Making RnRC a HM/JB ride would be akin to letting High School Musical run amok in Tomorrowland. (Wait they did that, didn't they...)

Well anyway, it's highly unlikely since that would be a major multi-million $$$ rehab on Disney's own dime, not just a redress, and the longevity of HM/JB is questionable. (The American Idol Experience is different, since the AI people paid for the renovations.)
