Hello!

Can anybody tell me if it is only the over the head safety bar? I know I am being totally paranoid but I am pretty sure my DD who just turned 7 is going to make the cut off and she wants to ride it.

I am "freaking out" that she can slip through the safety bar. I "know" that is not rational - but still - someone please reassure me!!!

Thanks in advance :goodvibes .

although technical stuff i've read suggests shoulder harnesses are more mental than physical security - that in theory, the most you'll ever need is a lap bar and that's only if the vehicle gets stuck upside down, but that a shoulder restraint probably helps with the comfort level in that rare event.

just thought i'd throw that in, i find it interesting.

It's an over the head restraint system, much like what is other attractions, like Mission Space. If your daughter is tall enough to ride, the safety system will keep her firmly in place. The ride is pretty short anyway, probably under two minutes.

My DD is handicapped and very short about 4-4. She rode RNR with no problems. The restraint came down far enough I felt secure with her riding. She looks terrified but she rode it several times so I guess she likes it. Heres a picture where you can see the restraints.

The restraints are OTSR's and are pretty tight. The shoulder restraints are more than enough to keep you in your seat safely and Vekoma (who made the ride) does a good job when it comes to ride safety.

Just the shoulder bar. DD6 rode if for the first time in Aug and I was really nervous too. She is quite thin and I was afraid it wouldn't fit securely enough. After one glance after she pulled it down, my mind was completely eased. If fit down very snug over her, close to the seat and came down to rest practically on top of her thighs. There is no way she could budge even if she wanted to!:thumbsup2

Funny story: A couple of years ago I took my son and GD to WDW. My then 7 y/o GD wanted to ride RNRRC, but my ride-chicken son told her she'd be scared. My daredevil GD planted both hads on her hips and informed my son it was him that was scared not her. I took her back exactly a year later for a GM-GD trip and she hadn't forgotten the incident. She told my son before we left that she was riding RNRRC. He told us to do what we wanted, but she'd better not come back saying she'd been scared. Just as we got on the ride she realized that she didn't have a belt (just the overhead harness). She literally screamed at the top of her lungs, "What do you mean it doesn't have a seatbelt?" and looked frantically at the CM, who told her she'd be fine. She screamed throughout the ride that she was falling out. After it was over, I asked her if it was that bad and she laughed and said no, she sortof liked it. However, she then shook her finger at me and gave me a very disgusted look and said, "You know that wasn't a good idea. I could have fallen out, but we won't tell dad. I wouldn't want to get you in trouble and we won't tell my mom either because she may not let me go with you again." I reminded her it had been her decision (that her parents had agreed with before we left) and she gave me a really disgusted look and said "What do I know, I'm just a kid. Since when do you listen to an 8 y/o/".

The first time I rode it I was 11, or 12. Although I was extremely tiny. (My 7 year old sister at the time was about the same size..) I was mortified I was going to fall out, but the corkscrew is over so fast, and the restraints feel really secure. She'll be fine!

restraints don't keep you in your seat - centripetal force does. it'll keep your unrestrained bags from falling out too.

My DD rode it again on her 7th bday trip. She started when she was 6 and 47lbs. I was scared but she was fine and loved it. She calls it her favorite ride now.

Thanks again! Now I just need to hope she does not freak out!! She rode EE at 5 so I think she will do fine. If not it will be a long 2 minutes!!

I really appreciate everyone sharing. It is good to know the overhead restraint comes down so far on little one.

The worst part is the first 5 seconds, after that, it is not all that intense. Tell her the most intense part is at the very beginning and if she survives that, she will be fine the rest of the ride so she can sit back and enjoy.

If she survived EE she will do great! DD was so excited to ride EE this year, it was all she talked about. She rode it and hated it, she screamed thru most of it and will not even talk about it. I felt so bad for her since she was so excited. So she rode Rockin Roller 3x to make up for it.
