Rock N Roll Beach Club Closes 2/3/08 Forever

This should be in a News section, but I cant seem to find one.
I will post it here, move it to where it is best suited.

I for one am saddened by this news , the only place you can see live Rock Roll will close forever, I have had great times there with my wife, I know its been a fraction of what it use to be (all of PI is for that matter) there was at time when you couldn't even get on the dance floor, "Bring back Frankie & The West End Boys" Why have they destroyed Pleasure Island? They call it evaluating I call it destroying...

I have never been. Since, are w/ DD and DS my DH don't get to enjoy the night life in PI. I do know that from what I hear it's not what it use to be. I remember you use to have a gate pass to get in, a few years ago we were there and my DN was with us. DN and DD wanted to check it out. DN is responsible and 21 and I felt comfortable to let her go and take DD. They weren't there long, they said it was over running w/ a bunch of teens hanging out all over the place. They said it was obvious that many were intoxicated and even though there were police there, it seemed to be a local hang out. Seems you don't need a gate pass to walk/hang in PI any longer. Our next trip I was on the balcony talking to a 'neighbor' she was in her 20's and she said that her and her fiance had gone there the night previous and left. She couldn't believe all the teens hanging out. Maybe instead, of reevaluating and closing places, PI should be what it started as. A night spot for adults and don't have open access.

You are right, it was at its best when it was 21 plus, it has turned into a teenage hangout, when teenages hangout they don't spend money, same as mall rats. Closing places doesnt seem to be the way to draw people to me, but what would I know. I do know when it was 21 plus the places were packed when they went 18 plus or even under 18 it totally turned me awayfrom the place.

I remember when the best show at PI was outside on the West End Stage on the nights when Frankie & The West End Boys where performing. These were the good old days. The crowds were large and a highlight of our trips.

Now PI is a Ghost Town.
