Rock Band- please help

My kids both want Lego Rock Band for Christmas. The problem is the instruments. My friend was able to get a Rock Band 2 bundle last month but they are nowhere to be found now. So I have a few questions-

1. Do the Guitar Hero instruments work with Lego Rock Band and Beatles Rock Band?

2. The Rock Band 3 instruments are crazy expensive, but my son would love the piano. Does that only work with Rock Band 3 or could he use it with the above?

Have you checked Target? I bought the Rockband 2 bundle with the game and all the instruments for PS3 for $34.98 on Monday (the XBox 360 version version should also be the same price).

Guitar Hero controllers work with all Rock Band games, the only difference is the drums are different (Guitar Hero drums have 5 panels to hit, Rock Band only has 4) so the note patterns will be slightly different.

The keyboard only works with Rock Band 3.

If you need the Wii versions unfortunately the bundles with the instruments rarely get as cheap as the XBox and PS3 versions

I wouldn't get the Guitar Hero instruments, I would stick to the Rockband ones.
We've used GH for RB...and they've thrown fits. The RB ones didn't work for GH at all.

check ebay also. We just got a good deal on one there. Unfortunately not as good as what walmart just had for band hero on BF so we're probably going to be auctioning ours too. You can get some good deals on there.
