Robin, In case you didn't see my reply to your thread I wanted to show you the kitty (in my signature) that I rescued from the shelter in Memphis. I was browsing and came across her picture updated November 1st and she was the next one up to be put to sleep. I know I can't rescue every kitty but something about her face just called out to me.

So I called hoping I was in time and sure enough I was...she would have been put down the first of next week. So Saturday we are going to pick her up. Shes 6-7 months old and was already declawed when they "found" her but she has been at the shelter for a while....also had her pic up for a while and no bites on her.

So now I have a new baby too and its all your fault because you got my "Rescue" urges going...LOL!

Her name is CInders but she doesn't know her name very well so I may rename her or shorten her name to Cindy (Cinderella). What do yall think of her......(Brenda has given her opinion...LOL!)

I think she's adorable! I saw here last night, but wasn't sure who she was. I love her name, too. :D :D

She's a beauty!

You can't have too many cats! :teeth:

Shelter staff are so excited when an adult cat who has been there awhile gets adopted. Thank goodness there are people like you who adopt adult cats.

I volunteer at our local cat shelter and we practically celebrate when our "big babies" get adopted. We have 8 kittens and 4 adults right now and hopefully Saturday some will get new homes.

Wow, shes considered an adult at 7 months? I still think of her as a baby compared to my youngest who is 3 years old. Goodness cats can live to be 20 years old......I would adopt them all if I could afford it and had the room.

Another cat??? ;)
;)
:teeth:

She's a doll, Beth! I was wondering who she was when I saw the pic. :)

Oh, Beauty!!

What a cutie!

I am in total agreement with getting these little darlings from shelters. In fact, I just gave an entire diatribe to a friend of mine thinking of getting a cat!

My very first cat when I was 21 was a cat that was about to be exterminated at a shelter in Long Island. They had a news report on it on the morning news and my Dad, being the cat fanatic he is and taught me to be, ran up and got one. Her name was Fanta and I had her until I was 38... She was the first of a dynasty!

I got Aaliyah and Max from shelters, and Xena and Meeko from the streets. All are BEAUTIFUL long haired darlings, and worth every "penny" I spent on them!

Max was the only adult cat I got. I remember going to the shelter to see the kittens when this one cat just caught my eye. He was two years old and the catroom attendant told me that the older cats RARELY get adopted. I was there to see a kitten but Max picked me. I actually left him there, thought about it and came back. He had some injuries and a very bad upper respiratory condition but I was determined this little guy was coming home with me.

Three horrifying weeks later I finally brought him home. I have never had a cat that was so grateful to have a family. He is the kindest, sweetest animal I've ever known...

Pets bring unconditional love to your life in a way no one can. I have so little peace in every other aspect of my life but when I come home and my son and my furbabies look at me like I hung the moon, it makes it all worth it.

God made people to care for the least of these...

Thanks for sharing your wonderful story, Beth!

Ahhh...she's a Beauty too :)
That was such a nice thing to do.
I haven't had a kitten in so long........we seem to get the adult strays all the time. I can't say "no"......but I don't need to go to the shelter, they show up here at home....poor babies.

Robin I would definatly say she picked me. I have seen pictures of shelter babies here and there...on posters, on the web etc....but this baby was just looking at me with those eyes and I had to call! I can't wait to "meet" her in person.

LOL! I haven't crossed paths with BobO very much but I've heard stories...LOL!!!!

Of course I noticed her in your siggie, and she is a sweetie and a cutie.:D

Amen to that! My husband doesn't know it yet but I plan on adopting another cat from one of the shelters after we move.

Beauty, I have two brothers (of each other not me! ;) ) who are tuxedo cats and I just love them! Needless to say, your new kitty is beautiful. :teeth:
