My DH ran out on Christmas Eve to buy me a new robe at Belk. It's beautiful, soft and red. It also has a nice tan security alarm hanging off of it. :lmao: Of course, DH can't find the receipt...Any ideas?

If he paid with a credit card, some stores can look up the transaction that way. good luck!

If he paid with a cc you can also pull up your recent transactions for that card online. If it shows his Belk purchase that might suffice, at least to get them to take the alarm tag off for you. You can always call the store and ask!

We once had that problem and what I did was put it in the freezer (to freeze the ink) and then cut the tag off with wire cutters.

This happened to me last year when I bought a coat. I got it home, and tried it on again and saw the security tag still hanging on it. I didn't even call, I was so mad, I went back to the store and had them remove it. I would think that with it being busy due to the holidays, it's probably not the only one that got left on. Often these stores hire seasonal help and they are still learning the process. I went to Wally World Friday the 18th, stuck 1 box of Capri Sun on the counter, told the cahsier I had 3. When I got home I looked at my receipt and she charge me for 5! I went back a week later, gave them my receipt and say "hey", and they gave me the money back for the 2 I didn't buy, no questions asked. I know stores are cautious for theft & fraud, but I would also imagine this time of year mistakes are being made. I would call the store and tell them, see what they say.

Let us know what happens.

put it in a bag and carry it in, you shouldnt have any problems. I have dint it before

Yeah - heavy duty wire cutters. :thumbsup2 My husband has become very good at this. I'm beginning to wonder if any of those tags are real, because I seem to ALWAYS come home with something tagged.

I got a new bra one time, and my husband was not home, and at work with the "shoplifting wire cutters" (we have so lovingly named them).

An angry woman looking to wear a new bra, has super human strength, and is able to use two pairs of plyers to get them off, too.

If it is an ink tag I would NOT try to remove it yourself.

If it is just a plain sensor tag you might be able to pop it off by sticking a car key between the pin and the tag and wiggling it back and forth until the pin pops out. If you can't get it off with the key but you manage to pop the pin out a notch or 2 you can use wire cutters.

No, I am not a shoplifter. I worked retail for 6 years and that is how the shoplifters got the sensors off. I know there were several times that the tag was stuck and I couldn't get it off of a customer's purchase, so I used my keys and it popped right off. :rolleyes1

The department store I used to work for had magnetic security tags. The little thing they stick them in when they pop it off is a high-powered magnet. So maybe a pair of pliers and a strong magnet might do the trick. Maybe you could hold it while your husband tries to pry it off.

The freezing of the Ink tags is a awesome idea lol. That would have been useful a couple months ago with my brandnew coat!

Though you probably won't have any trouble just taking it back in a bag, if it were me, I would take the precaution of calling the store and telling a mgr what happened.

Let them know you will be bringing it back to have the tag removed.

That way, if you would get questioned, a mgr already has your name and is aware of your situation.

That way you shouldn't have any problems.

You tube.........shows you how to take them off, just search it.

Just take it back to the store! I doubt they will care about the receipt...it is difficult to steal a big old bathrobe.

Hello, I used to work at Belk, it would happen all the time and we would not really question the person, especially if it was in a belk bag. Good luck.
