Roasting a turkey using cheese cloth covering...Anyone?

I've done it throughout the years.

In a saucepan I have a mix of butter, white wine, lemon, soy sauce and fresh herbs. It's actually an old Martha Stewart recipe.

Before I put the cloth on I soak it in the mix. Basting with all the butter in that mix would not allow anything to stick to the bird:cool1:

I did the cheesecloth for Thanksgiving this year. You don't need to baste with cheesecloth. That was part of the appeal. :) It came out great. GL!

So are you saying that you don't baste? As PP said that is really part of the appeal.

Thanks,

Karen :)

Very similar recipe, MS recipe is 2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter and fresh sage and thyme in the cavity as well as in the saucepan.

Just remember cheese clothe needs to be used in multiple layers.

Haven't tried the cheesecloth (yet) sounds yummy!

The past couple of times I've cooked my turkey in a brown paper bag.
