Road Trip

Here in Florida, almost anything is legal....

You just have to sign a waver that states you are using them to scare away birds from your crops! :lmao:

My aunt has a terrible time with squirrels in her peach tree. I was telling her about these Chinese lanterns that you nail to the tree - they spin around and sparks shoot out, but I doubt the squirrels would be scared for long. They actually had the lanterns at the firework stand, and the nail comes with it! :rotfl2: But I didn't think she wanted us to really nail anything to the tree so we didn't buy any.

It is possible that fireworks are legal in the more rural areas of TX. I haven't ever looked into it. :confused3

Mom just phoned a bunch of relatives and invited them to meet us at a buffet place for dinner. Not Golden Corral - some other buffet place. Should be interesting.

DS managed to find a recorder (one of those annoying plastic flute things) that belonged to one of my sisters when they were in elementary school. He is having a spendid time with it. There is NO WAY he is bringing it back home with us.

And now there is drumming. :rolleyes1

We went walking around town and found a music shop FULL of drums. And sticks. And cymbals. DS was THRILLED!!! Turns out they build custom drum sets to your specifications, which is pretty cool. And an odd thing to find in Kansas.

He played on the demo sets and bought a pair of sticks. Now he has built a set of drums out of empty buckets and he is drumming away. I suppose it is a shame we don't have a basement. But if having a basement means living where it snows I am out. NO snow. :scared:

And I see the tag fairy nailed you while you were on vacation! popcorn::

I'm sure he is!! Especially after the poppers!! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

I swear he has made more NOISE in the past 4 days than he has made in the past year at home.

He is currently in the basement drumming on his 5 gallon buckets. There are pics on FaceBook. If you would open an account you could see them. ;)

He seemed so quiet at WDW. I knew he was bound to let loose and release all that pent up noise. Yea, yea, maybe this weekend I'll finally get around to signing up. As you can tell I tend to procrastinate. But I work good under pressure. Give me a deadline and I'll wait until the day before and then I'll work my butt off. Like my Photopass. My pictures expire in 2 days so I'm trying to finish adding borders and editing them so I can order my CD tomorrow.

Hmm. I ordered our CD but I don't think it has arrived yet. If it has DH forgot to mention it.

We're heading for home in about 30 minutes. I hope it doesn't rain the entire way. I have had quite enough rain!

LOL trying to coerce him I see ;)

Sounds like he's warming you up for having a high schooler in the house.

We don't have a recorder, or 5 gallon buckets, or fireworks at home. If we did then I am sure he would be VERY noisy ALL the time! :rotfl2:

Whatever it takes. ;)

We made it home in 7h 30min. We only stopped once, and that was just long enough to put gas in the car and grab a snack. No rain. It was cloudy when we started out, but most of the way was partly sunny.

Welcome home!!

Thanks!

I am glad we made the trip. I didn't love the drive, but we spent like $80 on gas (and I still have gas in the car) vs. almost $600 in airfare. It was nice to see my family. Of course the whole reason for the trip was for DS to see Grandma, and he really enjoyed it. I wouldn't ever go up there when there is snow unless we flew. I might consider driving again IF it isn't monsooning the entire way. I don't have any more vacation time until next year - I was able to go on this trip because my bosses were out of town.

I think I am up to 11 nights on our concierge studio ressie for next June. I am getting REALLY tired of calling every day. I will be glad when I have all of the nights secured!

That's my point though. He's getting old enough to acquire such items on his own. Plus he's going to an Arts HS where he's likely to have easy access to such equipment.

Good luck!

:rotfl:
The other thing we DON'T have is a basement. Living in an apartment means he can't make TOO much noise even with the proper equipment. ;)

:rotfl:
Good luck! (Perhaps some electronic versions with headsets?)

The cheap electronic drum sets we have seen require that you run them through a computer. I am not sure which direction he is going with drumming now that he will be in an intensive Theater program. Even if he was going into a Music program I don't think we would be buying drums.
