Road trip with infant

I was going to offer tips since we took 2 long car trips when ds was 5-6 months old, but now that I've read the details...
I wouldn't. I think the 1 adult thing changes it. I'd just fly. There's no reason to believe the baby will cry the entire time (I know they say ears can bother them: give pacifier, breast, or bottle), but ds slept almost the entire flight to Fl.
Good luck!

Do your own research on air quality on planes and make an informed decision. You will need to do this many times throughout your child's life, might as well start now. When my 21 year old was born, we were given a strict immunization schedule. I did want to immunize, I just wanted to do it in a much slower time frame. I had done my homework and the doctor listened and agreed it was a good idea and something he could consider too.

Most new planes use Hepa filters that eliminate 99% of germs making planes cleaner than trains, office buildings etc. The issue could be sitting beside someone sick, but you could buy her a seat (she has to sit beside the window anyway) and you sit between the two.

Wasn't this kiddo born a couple weeks before his due date?

Personally, I wouldn't fly or drive that far away yet.

A couple weeks or way early? 2 weeks really isn't "early". Both of mine came 2 weeks before their due date and were considered "full term". Unless the child has actual medical problems I don't see any reason not to fly.

Like a PP mentioned, do your own research and make up your own mind. Sometimes I agreed with the doctors, and the experts at the time, but sometimes I did my own thing. Taking that baby on a plane is no bigger risk than taking him to the store, or having visitors over.

Depends on the kid's dubowitz & other pertinent info. Actual gestational age, dubowitz estimated gestational age, any feeding issues, any health issues. I've had 37 weekers that behaved like full termers & I've had 37 weekers cut up & get oxygen, etc.

Didn't you have a C-section? Are you well enough physically for a drive that long? I wouldn't drive that far with an infant alone. What if something happened to you along the way? Or something with your car?
