:goodvibes Hi everyone

I have been running since January and currently run 3 times a week, with the idea to increase to 4/5 days a week. And hopefully to train for a 1/2 (maybe the princess, if I can swing it financially too).

My MIL swears that a woman running is not safe. She wants to carry a cell phone, mace and now the road-id. I am not against the road-id, but I am uncertain about what one to get.

I have read that the foot ID, is fine assuming that my sneaker does not fly off in an accident.

However, I like the idea of the wrist ID but dread another thing attached to me (I wear an IPOD now).

I dont have any major medical problems so the "medical one" is not really an option.

Any suggestions?? Thanks so much :)

www.roadid.com is the site

My training partner loves the anklet Road ID...I have the sneaker one, and am considering the bracelet...I rarely train with an I-Pod, so another accoutrement wouldn't be a big deal.

You can always get the FIXX ID and wear it around your neck. I have one and wear it all the time. I figure an accident can happen anytime and my family needs to know, therefore, I have it on me. The other thing is this: You can wear the ROAD ID on any of the other items! You can buy one and for just $3.25 ea. you can order an ankle strap (no ID), shoe pouch (no ID), and wrist strap (no ID) and then decide which one you prefer because you can use the ID on any of those things!

I have the wrist ID and I hardly notice it when I run. It does get sweaty but I only notice it when I take it off. I don't have any medical conditions either but I always feel better running with mine just in case (knock on wood).

I have the kind on my shoe. I just didn't want to have another thing I had to think about putting on. The one on my shoe is always there. But then again I realize the disadvantages of that - as has been pointed out before.

I forgot to post a code if anyone wants to use it. I believe it's good for another week or so and it saves you a whole dollar. :)

Every little bit helps!

Just enter this as a coupon and I think like 20 people can use it. I found a coupon on a different thread that I used so I hope someone can use this.

ThanksChristopher366051

DH and I both have got the wrist ones. Like Vicky, I dont' notice it's sweaty until I take it off. Use for walk/run, biking and even while riding the motorcycle.

I have the one on my sneaker, but might consider another kind for the reasons mentioned above. Still, I'm pretty happy with having something on my shoe that I don't need to remember adding to my daily gear check.

I have the shoe pouch (I don;t use that one very often) , the ankle and the wrist. Not sure I would like the one that goes around your neck. I tend to wear the wrist one alot and I don't realy notice it that much. I have my garmin on one wrist and my road id on the other. I do wear my ankle one, but only if I have socks on that the ankle band can go on top of, I can't wear the ankle ID touching my skin on my leg. It is a different material and when I sweat it feels weird.

I think the OP said they are running with an iPod now, depending on what one it is and how the wearer is 'wearing' the iPod, would there be some way of putting info on the armband for the iPod or the deivce itself? I am thinking that with my old style shuffle I could fit a printer label with my info on it and then once it is in the armband it would be fairly secure.

Just a thought for those who don't want to carry more than they are now...

That is a great idea. Now with my shuffle it might be too small to read. I actually made my own using just a small piece of paper with all my emergency contact info on it. I used packing tape and "laminated" it. All my shorts have at least a small key pouch, but I usually run with my amphipod belt so it's not a problem.

I couldn't use the shoe pouch as I rotate 3 pairs of shoes and I'd have to keep switching it.

If you want to go extreme, a nice tattoo would suffice, just don’t ever change your phone numbers :)

enjoy,
Duane

What information are you putting on your ID's? Just name and phone number? Is there something else important that should be on there?

Jen:

Mine has my name, phone number, my parents phone number, any allergies (mine is penicillin) and where the inspirational phrase (Like never give up, or M DOT bound or whatever) is supposed to go I have

"Don't let me Die!" I figured that would give the guy setting it up a laugh, too.

Also, I learned that you can move the ID from one item to another...THANKS STEFFWALKS!!!!

I just ordered up the wrist band...while ordering, I found this coupon code that was on the bib from my 5k

Use Coupon code ARR8777...it expires 12/31/09, and is supposed to be good for a dollar off on orders over $10.00 but it gave me $2.00 off on a 5.00 order...:woohoo:

Something else you can do is laminate a business card and put it in your amphipod, or just put one of your cards in your pocket.

P.S. If you are going to order a Road ID, don't bother placing your blood type on it...you will be blood typed in the ER if you ever (God Forbid!) need their attention, regardless of what is on your ID.

Be safe!

Mike

Jen - mine has my name, home number, DH and DS's cell numbers, allergies and a much need-to-know medical condition. (so no cool tag line for me)

Mike - thanks for the coupon code. Going to order one for DS since he's started riding his bike to/from work and very often is coming home at 11.30pm.

Before you order...You might want to consider getting the ankle ID, for holding a chip. I just learned about a new chip the AMB computer timing chip. It isn't compatible with Champion and has to be worn on the ankle.

The AMB doesn't require mats to be used. It appears to be about the size of champion chip, but it has to be on the ankle. I don't know, because my race using the AMB chip isn't until October, what kind of thing you get to hold it on your ankle with. This might be a consideration for others like me who have skin issues.

Any of the Road ID's can hold a champion chip (I used the shoe Pouch and the ankle ID for this..it's great!).

Thank you for the coupon code :) and I love your quote "DON'T LET ME DIE" so I put it on my ROAD ID !!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone -

Thank you for your input :)

I just ordered a PINK one (:lovestruc ) !!!

I hope it will never be read, but it does I know my family will know where I am :)

****For anyone considering it, it is well worth it. My husband said he feels better knowing I have ID and my MIL was so happy she said she would pay :rotfl: *****

I did get the basic one too.

Yes, I have a Road ID.

We even got one for our two Princesses. It definitely came in handy while at WDW in January because the little one wandered away at the mall. My daughter pointed to the ID on her shoe to the person who found her roaming around, called my number listed.

The lady was so impressed with the ID, she asked where I got it so she could get one for her kids.
