Roaches!?

Lol
Roaches are a fact of life here in Florida. I'll spare you the detailed story of the time I found one crawling up my pants leg in the ticket booth at work. :)

Bedbugs are a fact of life in hotels of all levels of price and quality throughout the country, unfortunately.

We have a great Disney roach story! Eating at Big River Grill on the Boardwalk and I had a huge one crawl up my leg. Didn't know what it was and flicked it on the wife of the couple with us. Screaming and dancing ensued

If you are so concerned think more than just your hotel. Hundreds of pieces of luggage in the airport holding areas piled together. You can gets bugs anywhere!!! And try going to a fancy five star all inclusive, bed bugs and roaches galore. My best friend was putting on her wedding dress at her destination wedding the biggest roach I have ever seen was on her train. Oh and don't go to the public library bed bugs in the books.

Yes, there are roaches. It creeps me out too. We had just checked in at CBR and I opened the door (2nd floor BTW) and saw 2 run across the floor! 2!! One ran under the air condition and one ran across the carpet under the vanity! We told them immediately and we're offered another room or another room at another moderate resort. We didn't want to have to move to another resort, so we just took another room, but we had house keeping check ahead of us for all bugs! A lot of people are acting like it is fine to have a few roaches, but for the price we pay it is unacceptable!

I understand that, I just don't want to bring them to my home.. I am a mother of 4, and have a 7 bedroom home in upstate ny... It'd cost a fortune to recover from this.. I guess I gotta prepare for bagging my clothes and being extra careful... Any tips? I also and an ocd neat freak! Lol

What do you think would cost a fortune?

My mom was the cleanest neatest best housekeeper on the planet, and when she lived in Miami, she had roaches (palmetto bugs). Fact of life. Nothing to do about it.

I've never had roaches in my room in any of my stays. Seen Palmetto bugs outside only. Ugh, giant flying roaches :scared1:
Disney does a pretty good job of insect control.

That's next to my (really big) foot at Epcot. Don't worry, they probably won't come home with you.

"Cost a fortune to recover from this"? Your response would be appropriate for bedbugs (which I've read do cost a fortune & a lot of stress to eradicate), but not for typical Florida roaches.

The cockroaches most common in the South (I'm from Texas) are large waterbugs. They're in the building/home primarily for water, not food, & are quite easy to eradicate, even if there are a lot of them in your home (I had personal experience with this after buying an older home.)

The roaches you might be more familiar with in New York are more likely to be the infestation type (small roaches that find a food source in the home, and are reportedly very hard to eradicate.) You won't have a problem with infestation-type roaches at a Disney resort. The worst that will happen with roaches there is that you might get a waterbug in your room. Gross & creepy (I hate the things), but they're extremely unlikely to sneak into your suitcase without your knowledge & follow you home. Even if one did, it would be easy to get rid of.

That said, I've stayed at multiple Disney resorts at different times of year, including one week camping at Fort Wilderness and a multiple-resort stay mid-summer, and I've never seen a roach at Disney World.

Stop worrying about roaches- they aren't going to cause a problem. Bedbugs are a more realistic worry (though still unlikely), if you want something else to obsess over.

I'm pretty sure we had one on our patio at the Poly last week, but I couldn't really get a good look because I wasn't sure who ran away faster: me or the bug! Haha, it was fine though. As long as it's not a snake, we're cool.

You could always raid bomb your room...

Or if you want to save a few bucks on food, I've heard they're a very good source of protein and really filling. I hear that's how them fort wilderness boys maintain their physique.

My other memorable roach moment at WDW was at HS. A massive downpour - everyone ran for cover, including the roaches apparently. It was not a pretty sight in the gift shop we took cover in... eww.

Also, during our last trip, I was walking up the stairs to our room at POFQ and put my hand on the stair railing... only to have a large tree frog jump out from under my hand just in time to avoid being squished. I may have screamed a little. Nature is all around. lol

Roaches. Rats too. We've seen them.
Lol ikr! I just heard it's very run down and nasty in their.. I was going to upgrade to a "better" hotel.. Also bed bugs.. I heard they're loaded with em!:crazy2:
Dear lord, what are you reading. What ever it is, stop.

Where are you "hearing" this? You are getting bad information.

Oh, they got snakes too. We saw a very tiny one last summer. It was cute
