Where do you live and how long have you been practicing???

Do you think you are paid enough for the job that you do??

If you dare to answer please do... :thumbsup2

Oh I will start

About $37 with shift differential.... I live in Philly and work for a major center city hospital... Have been a nurse for just about 5 years now

I am clinical nurse level 3 as well... I am not sure if that makes a difference in pay everywhere

That's a bit personal.

I think that sounds a bit low. I'm not about to put that kind of info out there, though.

I realize most ppl probably won't answer... but I just wanted to get a general consensus

I think it's low too... but some ppl seem to think otherwise... especially considering my friends work agency and make $50 plus an hour

I'm not a nurse, so I don't have an answer. However, I know there is a website, I think its salary.com where you can put in your area, job, etc and find out a mean income for that particular job. I don't know how accurate it is, but I don't think you would get better on a message board anyway.

I am not asking because I feel I am being underpaid in comparison to my co-workers (I am not, we are very open about it) I am asking because somehow.... $30 became alot of money to make an hour to some ppl on the boards and so I am curious as to how other nurses who live in big urban areas with high costs of living feel about that

I'm in the wrong job field...

LOL... come and join us, we are desperate for nurses :rotfl:

Alot of co-workers are older nurses who left corporate america because of the pay, flexibility and security that nursing offers... and think I only work 3 12 hour shifts a week :thumbsup2

Yep, someone is just trying to "prove a point" on the freakin' "waitress/tips" thread...nice.

It totally varies by area. Where we live I earn a good wage but to others Im sure it seems low.
I know my friend said she was making $50 and more an hour in Cali working in the ER.

Top of scale at our hospital is about $40/hr. Usually takes a minimum of 10 yrs experience to get there and sometimes more. If you work third shift you get an extra 15% of your salary which really adds up to alot.

what exactly did I do wrong?? Do you have a habit of personally attacking people??? you mentioned my name in several of your posts

A coworker (male) of mine (much younger too) is doing just that. Supposedly they are about a year away from making the switch.

it's about the same here... do you mind telling me where you live?

I am a stay@ home mom right now; I will pick up some per-diem shifts every now and then. My last raise was last Sept. and I'm now up to $38 an hour.

What the crap are YOU talking about?! The only place I mentioned your name is in the waitress/waiter thread, where you said that 30/hour is an awful salary....and is only "good" for hicks in Missouri....

milwaukee, wi

i work with many nurses who make $75-100k a year with a bit of overtime.
so i honestly dont consider it a bad wage. a SUPER nice house here would cost about $350-400k.

im lucky enough to work part time and supplement my husbands salary. i dont know many jobs you can do part time and still make that amout per hour.

Pretty darn good to me!! Now I feel like I need to relocate LOL...

But seriously, my DH only works part time so he can be with our DD.... so I can honestly say nursing has been good to us :goodvibes
