RnRC description for someone afraid of large drops??

I'd like to try the RnR Coaster but I am afraid to because I don't like the feeling I get in my stomach on large drops. Aside from that fear, I love everything else about coasters...speed, fast turns, loops, etc. I love BTMRR, but that's of course because there is no huge drop. I can handle Space Mountain and mostly enjoy it, although a couple of those hills bother me a little. Never been on Splash Mountain and don't think I ever will (the anticipation of log flume drops gives me so much anxiety I can't enjoy the ride leading up to that point. At least with coasters I can enjoy the rest of the ride after the drop). Can anyone provide a description of what the RnR Coaster is like (with an emphasis on the presence or lack thereof of a big drop)?

If there is a big drop, could you describe what it's like? For instance, although the Anaconda roller coaster in Kings Dominion is really tall and looks steep, right at the top as you're starting to go down, the track slightly turns to the right. Because of the this slight little twist, I guess it must slow it down slightly or something because I don't get that dropping sensation. If the RnR Coaster drop is different from just a straight drop in anyway or if it's short, not that steep, etc. please let me know.

I don't recall any large drops. The ride takes place indoors in the dark, and most of the thrills come from turns and loops. A large part of the fun comes from the darkness, much like Space Mountain, but Space Mountain is much "tamer".

I wish I could ride it right now to give you a definitive answer!

Laura, the whole ride goes so fast that I might be wrong, but there really isn't a big drop on RNR. There are a couple of upside-down loops, and the takeoff is something else, but I don't recall a big drop at any point.

Geez. I hate big drops and don't remember any! I just remember trying tp find my breath for 1/2 the ride!
FAST and loops!

The acceleration at the beginning is EXTREMELY fast and there are corkscrews and loops but that's it!!

I think you'll LOVE IT!!!

I do not recall any big drops.... I know that it does invert/corkscrew, but I really didn't feel that too much. It is so dark you kind of lose you perspective of where you are!! If it makes you feel any better, DD rode it EIGHT times in one day (four with me, four with DH). But any how, I don't recall any big drops..............P

Good news....I just saved money by switching to Geico. Seriously though, no large drops at all. It's a horizontal launch, not down a big hill.

Not a single drop in the ride. My wife hates drops and would not go near the ride if there was. Acceleration at the beginning, loops (although you can hardly feel them because it is so dark) dips and turns. Hang on for the first few seconds- you will love the ride!

I do not ride coasters because heights make me queezy. I rode this last week just to say that I did. The acceration took my breath away but like everyone said it is dark, fast and curvy. No big drops. Great for any coaster fan. Will I ride it again? Maybe after I forget Just how scared I was going upside down!

I love this ride and I don't mind drops, but personally I get the same feeling in my stomach when you take off as I do with drops! It is a definite rush and my favorite part of the ride. Don't let that keep you from riding though, it is only the first 2 seconds of the ride. Enjoy!

I am the scariest person on earth!! I only ride Space Mountain and RNR because they are dark! I didnt even know RNR did loops and I've rode it twice. I did ride Splash Mtn. and I wasnt as anxious about the drop as I was the last 2 times I rode it, but I still closed my eyes! LOL

RNR is fast and it took a moment for my stomach and breath to catch up, but I would ride it again.

laurajetter - I'm in the same club that you are in. I love to go up, to go around, and to go fast, but I HATE to come down and lose my stomach! I have never ridden Splash Mountain either for the same reasons that you haven't. BTMR is my favorite ride in MK for the same reasons that you like it. I rode SM when I was much younger (late teens) and didn't like it then. Saying all that, let me tell you about RRC - I have ridden it once. I felt daring one night and my children dragged me on (they were 8 at the time ). The acceleration at the beginning is so fast that it does make you lose your stomach. After that I kept my eyes closed most of the way and screamed my lungs out (to the tune of the music ). You should try it at least once to see for yourself. Just remember the worst is at the beginning (unlike Splash) and you can enjoy the rest - no big drops. It's over in a flash. Good luck!

I am another who usually rides roller coasters with my eyes closed. I also don't like drops (but still have to do Tower so my DH won't tease me). Yes, the take off on RnRC is fast but it doesn't feel the same to me as a big drop. I rode this with my eyes closed the first time but now, I ride it as often as I can and with my eyes open! To me, the ride is incredibly smooth...it doesn't seem jarring like Space Mountain or BTMRR. The scenes inside, the music, and the smooth fast ride leave me feeling exhilerated. This is currently my favorite ride in all of WDW.

I never go on roller coasters because of the drops, but I did go on RnR after getting confirmation from a CM that there was no drops on the ride. I loved it!

I hate big drops too, but I love coasters so much that I just endure them. I do have a tip, I swear this works. When you start to go down a big drop, put your chin all the way down so it touches your chest (or as low as you can get it). I don't know why, but you don't feel the drop when you do this!

I employ this trick on Splash Mtn. all the time on the big drop. The little ones I like, it's just the big long ones I hate. I'm so glad I went on Splash, though, it's a fantastic ride!

I recomend that all who hate big drops who haven't ridden Splash because of it try this!

And to answer the OP's question, no, RnRC has no drops. You just go zero to blur in about a 1/2 second on take off!
