RnR Savannah, GA - Marathon & Half-Marathon - Nov. 5, 2011

Sounds great! I'm ready for them to go ahead and get some details down so that I can start making reservations and plans for the weekend!

I'm so ready to see the course!!!

As long as it ends at Forsyth Park and I can hobble to our rental house - it will be all good! LOL:cool1:

Can't wait to hear about the Fleet Feet party. Have fun and let us know to those who are going.

There was a little sneak peak in the paper this morning but it isn't a lot of detail and probably doesn't mean much to those that aren't familiar with Savannah:

"The route would start at City Hall on Bay Street, head toward the westside, eventually snake back through downtown before heading south on Price Street. Parts of Skidaway and LaRoche avenues and Truman Parkway will be used sending runners farther south before coming back to end in Forsyth Park."

Apparently this is what was proposed to the City Manager. I'm surprised by the thought of taking people toward the "westside" it's definitely not what I would consider a part of town you want to be showing off. I had figured Skidaway, LaRoche, and Truman would come into play.

Hoping to get a run in before the 6pm announcement...we'll see. I'm worried about parking (not a lot near the Fleet Feet).

Thanks for posting the course!!! I am so excited! The house we rented is one block off forsyth park!! We can hobble home! LOL

Will be staying in Port Wentworth Hampton and driving in to park somewhere.

Lily

Just completed my registration and have reservations for the same Hampton Inn. It's going to be a road trip for us because the air fare is too steep. See you in November!

I'm so excited with the course!! First, the word "FLAT" makes me happy!! Second, the finish line is literally within site of our rental house!

We gambled by renting a house one block off forsyth house, hoping that is where the finish would be. AND it just so happens our side of the park (and corner) is where the finish is!! WOO HOOO!!:cool1:

Great news Chester! We are road tripping this for the same reason. And of course geocaching. ;)

Teresa, I feel your excitement and it thrills me! I look forward to getting back to some training soon.

PS my knee surgery apparently went well. I see doc for the first follow-up Tuesday. Removal of bandaging and discussion of rehab.

WAIT~!! I missed something. What happened with your knee? GOOD LUCK!!!!

Bumping this back up...I've signed up for the half, which will be my first. I'm running it with TNT. Anyone else signed up lately? Their site says they have more than 10,000 registered already.

They just released the elevation map and it's crazy-flat! Guess I can drop my hill work and just focus on speed work instead.

bumping up!!

I'm so glad this is a flat course~~ My first 1/2 was in Nashville... HOLY. HILLS.

Has anyone started training yet? I haven't really since it is so hot, but I have been keeping up with three or four short (3-4 mile runs) a week and about a 4 to 5 miler on the weekends. I won't really rev up until September - about 8 or 9 weeks out.

I just registered last night. My Galloway group members all wanted to do this instead of our local fall marathon, so who am I to refuse? See you there!

Getting my walk on these days. I'm glad to be back at it. (knee is 3 months post surgery, meniscus, plica, and general clean- up) looking forward to the event.

Sorry to hear you were sidelined, Lily. Hope your prognosis is excellent!

I just learned that a bunch of Fleet Feet stores are hoping to be a presence at this race. Check with your store to see if they're participating. My store is sponsored by Brooks, who will provide shirts and a training program.

Lily,

Glad your knee is doing better. I must have missed the post about your surgery.

I'm just up to 5 mile long runs on my plan since we're still a long way out. And I'm doing 2 3-4 mile mid-week runs plus a biking day.

Lily - Good luck with your continued recovery!

Just, you say Just? Never! :thumbsup2
Seems like you are doing great mid-week training and will be more than ready for the event.

Yay for Fleet Feet. Will have to look into it.
Yay! Our group is growing!
