Riviera and 2020 Points

We just closed on Riviera direct purchase. When we asked our guide if we would get 2020 points, he said "no, because it is a brand new resort."

We just left it at that, but reading on here and elsewhere, it seems that others have gotten 2020 points.

So, my question is should we have gotten 2020 points or not?

We have a march use year if that matters.

You did not get March 2020 points because that use year is in the past.

IF you had a June (or other future month) use year, you would have gotten 2020 points because we are still in that use year.

Unfortunately you would have had to buy in Feb to get the 2020 points for your March UY

Ok, that makes more sense than it being a new resort. Although, interestingly we bought it Grand Californian right about the same time frame (almost to the day about 10 years ago) originally and we were given the previous use years points, which were automatically banked into the current use year. As I recall we were given the choice of Feb or March use year though. Obviously for this one we kept the same use year, as they do that.

And you guys explained much better than it guide did.... The new resort part was throwing is, it didn't make sense.
