Rivers of Light - Same Day Fast Pass?

We went in December and had the Rivers of Light dining package - and loved it so much! No dining package for our trip this September, so I'm curious if it's likely to get a same day fast pass for Rivers of Light? And, if so, how late in the day have you typically found them available? I would love to be able to use fast passes for the other rides and not have to hold onto an end of the day fast pass for so long. Thanks!

I got a same day fast pass for Rivers of Light when we were there on May 30th. I was not even looking for it, but it popped up around 7:30 pm that evening, so I said why not. That was for the first show of the night which started at 9:15 pm. I think we went and sat down at 8:30 pm.

We had a FP for Rivers of Light just a couple of weeks ago and really didn’t need it. We attended the 2nd performance but the amphitheater was only about 1/3 full. We picked it up just a few minutes before showtime which didn’t keep us from any other attractions.

We did walk by during the 1st show and it looked to be packed.

They were available on three days of our trip from 6/8-6/17even into the late afternokn/early evening.

It seems when they have 2 performances, the first is reasonably full, the second has plenty of seats.

We got one on Friday later in the afternoon for the early seating. I had to refresh a couple of times, but it was easy.

Thanks for the help everyone! We'll be in AK a couple of evenings, so think we'll chance it.

We'll be in AK on Dec 11, and that day currently has a predicted crowd level of 2. Relatively low crowds, but there will only be the one showing at 6:30pm or so. On a day like that, how much time is saved (standing in line) for Rivers of Light by having a FP or doing the dining package?
Or is it more that having the FP or dining package gets you a better view than the standby seating area?

There are very few differences in view in most sections of the ROL seating areas.

What a FP gives you is more options.
With a FP you can choose to sit in the FP section -or- the standby section.
Arriving 45 min. or more before show time with or without a FP will beat arriving "later"
with a FP.
