How are y'all factoring in Rivers of Light to your animal kingdom plans? We are going to be there at the end of May. Will it need a FP or will viewing be decent with out? Do we know what time its projected to take place, I assume evening. Worth staying for?

First of all, has it been announced when it will open? Second, there's really no way of knowing if it will need a FP until it does open and people start posting about what the viewing is like. It sounds like it'll be worth staying for, but again, until it starts airing and people start posting about it, there's no way of knowing.

@siskaren I read, according to easy WDW, spring 2016. We are travelling at the end of May. Surely, there is a good chance it will be. I know there isn't a way to "know" but I am curious as to how others are approaching the topic.

Spring is vague. Technically, June is still spring until the summer equinox.

The seating in the area for that shows seems really limited when compared to the areas needed for a show like Fantasmic. I'm wondering if the seating for Rivers of Light will involve some sort of "up charge" scheme that Disney is becoming so famous for, as in pay a $100+ to get into the park and then pay $XXX plus to get seats for the show.

To further bolster this thought, Disney really reduced the stand by capacity for the 2015 Candle Light Processional, devoting a enormous percentage of the available seats to the CP dining package.

With all the cuts in entertainment and price increases that seem to be the focus of the Parks leadership, it would not surprise me at all if this current pricing exploitation came to fruition for Rivers of Light.

It really wouldn't surprise me if seating was limited to Rivers of Light Dinner packages.

I am curious about Rivers of Light as well and wish that there was more info available. I know that it has not opened yet but it would be nice to know if it will be every night of the week, etc. I am going to be making my ADRs soon and if Rivers of Light is only shown on certain nights, then I might have to change stuff around which can be hard to do depending on availability.

I doubt it's only going to be on certain nights - Wishes, MSEP, IllumiNations and Fantasmic are all every night events. (Well, MSEP and Wishes don't run on party nights, but since MK isn't open on party nights (unless of course to people who have a party ticket), that's a moot point.)

No details yet on anything. We are planning a trip for August so ADR day is coming soon and I have no idea where or how this fits in. I have a feeling it's going to be chaos for a while as well.

Not a big deal in the scheme of things, but I sympathize with you in with just wanting to know!

My thoughts too. I am going to continue planning and if it fits in great, we would love to see it, but if it doesn't that will be fine also. I was just curious as to what others were planning.

While I agree that Disney has been doing a lot of up-charging for prime seating at shows like this, I don't foresee this being limited to dinner package guests. Rivers of Light is being plugged as Animal Kingdoms nighttime show, and is supposed to be the draw that holds people in the park for the full day. If it is only available to guests booking the dinner package, it is not going to do a great job of drawing people into the park, and keeping them there until park closing. I expect that there will be a reasonable amount of viewing area open so that anyone in the park that wants to see will be able to.

That's the attitude I am taking too, if we see it great, if not next time. I'd prefer to see it this trip so hopefully the details will work.

There will be seating and viewing. I suspect the seating will be dinner packages only, but that's just a guess. Not sure how many people it can accommodate but various folks who are watching the construction are saying there doesn't seem to be a ton of seating being built.

Just to keep things clear, MSEP does not run every night, even during non-party seasons.

We are also going in the end of May, and are curious about how to possibly fit this into our schedule. Currently AK is scheduled to close at 5:00, and we have ADRs at Boma that evening. I'm anxious to see if we need to switch things around on that day.

I'll be making my FP+ selections in about 6 weeks. I was hoping to see ROL FP+ in the mix. Not expecting it... But hoping.

This is going to gladly mess up our usual AK day. We are usually finished up with AK early enough to go back to our resort, rest up and head out to Disney Springs for a nice supper at the Earl and/or WPE.

Years ago I seem to recall Disney tying to cut back the number of nights that fantasmic ran. It was a disaster IIRC.

If I was plannign thsi show, and I knew there was a limited nbe of seats available, I woudl tie the show to a dinne package, somewhat like CP. Yes, you can get in if there is availability, but you take a chance. There is going to be a new restaurant going in AK< and it is supposed to be signature, so I wonder how that will factor in.
