Rivers of Light opening delayed

Disney Parks Blog is reporting that the opening of Rivers of Light has been delayed. The blog will post an update in mid to late May.

I'm curious how they've run into such large problems so late in the project.

I would assume there have been a whole series of test runs etc. long before we got to announcing opening dates. So what happened?

Exactly what I was going to say. They are a few weeks out, and now they can't even update on a potential opening date for almost 2 months. Really strange.

Exactly what I was going to say. They are a few weeks out, and now they can't even update on a potential opening date for almost 2 months. Really strange.

I think that's just Disney playing it safe. It could very well be done and working in May but they don't know for sure right now when it will be.

In the blog Disney states, "We’ll share more information about timing on the Disney Parks Blog by mid- to late May". I may wrong but I interpret that to meaning we may not see this even into June... Call me a pessimist if you want, but it's looking like my trip to Disney starting June 3rd may not include the ROL... Oh well, as much as I'm looking forward to ROL it's not the end of the world for me if this becomes a reality.

Given Disney's track record I'd say the odds are better for a June premier rather than a May premier of ROL.

Track record? It's not a common occurrence for an opening date to be announced and then it's changed.

What is a common occurrence is Disney consistently being behind on refurbs, new attractions, construction, and etc... This is another that is behind schedule.

Come on Disney, pay the big bucks and hire some professionals that can figure this out. This is unacceptable. Why are they telling people so late in the game? Probably didn't want people to change their vacation plans.

Usually Disney isn't behind schedule they purposely make things take longer because it spreads the budget over multiple fiscal periods. That makes it look better financially for Disney. As for RoL it truly is a major technical problem that needs time to be worked out.
