Rivers of Light opening delayed

Come on Disney, pay the big bucks and hire some professionals that can figure this out. This is unacceptable. Why are they telling people so late in the game? Probably didn't want people to change their vacation plans.
Because they didn't know for sure it wouldn't be ready. They have been working day and night on this thing.

More of the same issue...

...it's hard to spend "more" on things when the dip you (for some reason) let control that park burns through cash like its candy...

It's been a problem at animal kingdom since it was a dirt mound

So here's the thing...
We all want ground breaking, never before seen, state of the art..... you get the point. Well, these types of things don't have "experienced experts in the field"-- they have "the best possible fits" for the job-- Sure you can hire the best sound engineers. the best lighting techs, the best hydro aeration and disbursement designers, but if you are making something that as never existed before, using equipment that has to be created form non existing or constructed form the modification and combination of currently existing parts, there is really no way to estimate or especially to control project time flow.

Someone give me a bid on something I haven't thought up yet---

Agreed. The priority should be honoring their original release date. If they wanted it to happen, they have enough money to hire more people and make it happen. But I'm sure that's not the most financially sensible plan.
My suggestion: if you will miss out on ROL because of this new development, give Disney a call about it. They will likely be understanding.

Something I may have missed, but I'm assuming this pushes back the night time hours as well?

*EDIT" Saw it mentioned in News and Rumors it is pushing it all back.

I just don't believe they didn't know til yesterday that it wasn't going to open on time.

They've known about the problems for a while now they just didn't know how long it would take to fix. It's possible they could fix the problem within two weeks. But then it's also possible it could take a month or longer. They are working hard on this new show.

Ah that's a pain we're going early May and was really looking forward to it. I agree with people saying it'll probably be June if they're only releasing info in mid to late May.

Disney does bring in the best of professionals, but that doesn't mean things still don't have problems. Look at the Yeti in EE. That things was a technical marvel, designed by some of the best professionals in the business but it still went down.

I would expect an early to mid June date. I rather be able to see the full show then a "B" mode show.

That hasn't been a priority in close to 20 years. They could care less when things open...because they operate in a vacuum and nothing affects attendance of spending.

It is what it is.

I wouldn't bank on that...

Disney history is that when they run into "technical problems"...it's often code for "massive design/operational oversights"

Test track and the original haunted mansion come to mind.

IMO they won't put this off to long. Now I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time but there is to much money to be made of this for Disney to delay it for to long.

That is an interesting theory. But it is not based in any reality.

As my engineer husband likes to say, "It takes nine months for a woman to have a baby. Nine women can't do it in a month."

Throwing more people at it isn't always the solution. Sometimes it simply takes more time.

From what I've seen they can run it once through but then they can't get it to run a second time. Sometimes they can't even get it to run through that first time. It's just too uncertain right now.

In the blog Disney states, "We’ll share more information about timing on the Disney Parks Blog by mid- to late May". I may wrong but I interpret that to meaning we may not see this even into June... Call me a pessimist if you want, but it's looking like my trip to Disney starting June 3rd may not include the ROL... Oh well, as much as I'm looking forward to ROL it's not the end of the world for me if this becomes a reality.

We are coming down June 10th I was hoping the show would be running smoothly by then but now I'm wondering if it will even be open ! We will be the for almost 2 weeks so maybe in that time frame it will be open . Either way we will still enjoy ourselves , but my kids were really looking forward to being in AK at night.

Any word of Tiffins? Will they hold off opening it until ROL is rolling?
