Rivers of Light --- Almost Ready for Prime Time

We have an ADR at Tiffins on March 6, my daughter's 21st birthday, and I am wishing so hard that the dining package will be offered then. I spoke with two CM's at the new Disney Signature Services and they both said it is very possible that they will be opening ADRS soon-FWIW.

Anyone ever take a step back and think: "why am I desperate to book a dining package for a show that's nearly a year overdue and is so rife with problems that it may be completely awful when and if it does open?"

No? As long as they sell it, we'll buy?

Well for us we will be dining at Tiffins either way, show or no show. I'd rather get to see the show than not.

When this show finally opens and assuming it hopefully is open when I am there late March, what time do we think it will be? I'm assuming after dark so closer to 8 probably?

Yes, I've thought about it. I use the Jungle Book dining package as my reference, and why I'll book a RoL if it's available during our upcoming planned trip:
1) Difference in the cost of the meal was not significant (for us) to warrant the concern.
2) We had planned on dining in both Tiffins and Tusker House during that timeframe.
3) We really enjoyed Jungle Book as a cultural dance performance piece set to live musicians. (There are many ballets that use canned music instead of live orchestra.) Therefore, we'll still plan to see RoL even if there are similar dissonant reviews as Jungle Book.
4) Many people still went to see Spider Man:Turn off the Dark*, before and even after the script re-write and director change. If I were already spending the funds on a meal and getting a show for a modest $10-$20 fee, then (for us) the problems leading up to the technically-fraught show are not significant for us to warrant concern.

*Spider Man was a broadway musical plagued with many, many problems over a long course of time. In some respects, there are parallels to RoL.

I think Tiffins might be a bit more than I'm willing to spend for a meal, although I have heard fantastic things about the Nomad Lounge. I think we are definitely going to try a few drinks and an app or two there!

that's what we did last trip which was last summer. We were planning to do breakfast at Tusker House anyway so we just added on the Jungle Book package ... then mid-afternoon we stopped by the Nomad Lounge for drinks and apps. Highly recommend (especially for the drinks!)

Side note - glad to know I wasn't the only one that enjoyed Jungle Book. Obviously was very different than what has been promised for Rivers of Light but we thought it was good for what it was and the stadium was packed and big applause at the end

I'm not taking a position...i was just asking to be clear.

I don't do the upsells or variations on dining by and large...so it's more curiosity.

And Spider-Man had U2...not just corny Disney inspiro-doctors office stuff...just to be clear ;)

That's our plan too! We'll be there Feb 26th-March 5th - can't wait!

Are there any rumors about a RoL dining package? We plan to see the show the night of 2/26 (if it's going) and I've yet to try Tiffins, Tusker House or Yak & Yeti for dinner. I was hoping to pair one of those restaurants with a show package if they are going to have them.

When we did the dining package for the Jungle Book, we found the Tiffins dining package to be the "better value" over our Tusker House dining package. We also found it to be the most enjoyable restaurant of our trip, and I would even speak "sacrilege" to put it on par with Victoria and Alberts for proper cuisine preparation. (We were there 1st week June2016.) We also LOVED Nomad lounge next door, and I would be quite content to lounge there while the family toured the park.

If one enjoys signature dining experiences, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tiffins. That said, I appreciate that not everyone has a budget for signature, and not everyone desires a sig. restaurant for their family meal. These days, Tiffins takes the Disney Dining Plan and Tables in Wonderland card, if you decide to go and the RoL has not yet debuted.

Have a wonderful time at the parks during your visit, wherever you may dine!

I have to agree that Tiffins is beyond splendid!! Dinner is out of our price range too but LUNCH is half as much money!! They have sort of a pre-fixed menu for $28....pick 2 items. The 72 hour short ribs with chimichurri sauce are incredible. The Nomad Lounge is also good but Tiffins beats it (try the Snow Leopard drink @ Nomad & money goes toward saving the cats). Both take TIW and Tiffins also has an AP discount.

I didn't know there was an AP discount for Tiffins, I need to look that up, do you know if it's 10 or 20% off the top of your head? Lunch might actually be an option there if that's the case!

The prices for the same items are the same on the current lunch and dinner menus. There is also no prix-fixe menu option listed. How long ago did you eat at Tiffin's?

According to the MousePerks app it says both are 20% - but of course the AP disc. won't include alcohol.

We first ate lunch there last Sept. then again the first week in January. I didn't see the special pre-fixed lunch menu posted outside (we stopped at the Nomad Lounge for a bite & drinks a couple days before our lunch ADR) so I went over to the Tiffins check-in desk to ask about it while we were waiting on our food at the Nomad Lounge. If they had gotten rid of it I was going to cancel our ADR but they still had it available. Did they not offer it to you? I wonder if they only bring it out if someone asks about it? When we went in Sept. it was posted up in the glass menu box outside the front door but it wasn't there in January - that's why I went in & asked if it was still available. There are 10 things to pick your 2 items from. 2 diff. Fish, chicken, fried mussels, pork tamale, veg. curry, the amazing short ribs, black eyed pea fritters and octopus and I think maybe a beet salad or something. We both tried the mussels in Sept and I tried the short ribs. DH tried the tamale. This time he tried the octopus and the short ribs and I did the short ribs and the chicken. Then we added on & split the mussels.
