My son made me coffee bougie. We get fresh roasted grinds from Trade, use a 1zpresso grinder, a Flair espresso maker along with 10+ different coffee contraptions like v60, Vietnamese, etc, scale, kettle… you name it. And this calculator:

I didn't get serious about making it until well after college. That's because in Berkeley in the late 80s, you couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting an at-least-competent cafe, and most of them were pretty good. They were also fast. My preferred place (which, sadly, no longer exists) had dueling cash registers, each with a barista right next to it. The barista started pulling your shots as soon as you ordered, and you pretty much had your coffee in hand along with your change and croissant.

When I first went to a Starbucks, I was genuinely baffled how it took SO DARN LONG to get a cup.

I have gotten drip coffee at La Petit Cafe and it is much better than the Joffrey's they serve in the urns at Primo Piatto and elsewhere on property. It's not as good as what I make at home, or what I make when staying club level at AKL.

I do like drinking coffee, but not a snob, per se. That said, one of my first stops at Aulani is the Costco for a bag of Royal Kona Vanilla Macadamia Nut... so good... Love enjoying it on an Aulani balcony.

I agree with most everything you said, except Kidani being convenient from your car. I've only ever stayed there once, and that long hallway was litterally the longest walk from my car to my room at any hotel, ever.

Really? Maybe we got lucky, but the couple of times we've stayed we parked right under the building and took the elevator up to close to where our room was. Also, I believe they had luggage carts at Kidani as well down there (maybe they weren't supposed to be there?)

Coffee bar was straight up disappointing. It’s cute. And they have these great looking pastries. But if you’re going to pretend to be European, your coffee needs to reflect that and BE European quality, in nice cups. It isn’t. It’s American trash coffee served in disposable cups still. It has so much squandered potential IMO. I honestly resented how my cappuccino was just…subpar.

At least elsewhere I know to expect the coffee will be nothing special. It SHOULD be more special at Riviera, given the theme.

So I thought it was nothing special as well at first. Tried the Riviera cold brew and another one, meh.

I actually enjoyed my Poly Kona Coffee more UNTIL my cousin told me to try the Caramel Machiatto and that did it for me. It was very silky and delicious and so became my favorite coffee ️

I actually dont dislike Joffrey's if Im not the one responsible for making it. The coffee I had at AKV Boma was amazing. I was coming off of a red eye so that may skewed my judgment a bit, but I thought this is really good coffee!!

I still never bought the Joffrey's online, since I had to order a boat load or pay shipping. Funny how I am so cheap yet I can spend so much money at the same time.

Their hot chocolate at dca tastes like a straight up melted chocolate bar. Its great if im in the mood

Yep! The Gelato Cart is something they’d all really like. And having the cafe is big for us too. The combo of all 5 options would be put to good use and I could see RIV standing out in that way for them.

I can confirm the gelato cart is delicious and better than Universal Portofino's. I think i had the salted pistachio or something like that yum yum even better that they gave it to us for freeee just because!

Joffreys is an amazing coffee roaster. The problem at Disney is the Resort Blend. It’s the most mediocre of them all and the quick service locations do a poor job of brewing it. Urns are not very clean and they don’t use enough coffee in the filter. Joffreys suffers the hit to their reputation as a result.

Any of the French press pot brews showcase the rest of their blends beautifully.

I just bring my own Hazelnut creamer and its more than acceptable lol

I doubt the carts are supposed to be down there but we have seen them in the garage as well.
