My husband is in a wheelchair and I cannot find any information if he can take the riverboat to downtown disney. He can transfer from his wheelchair to a seat with my help as long as it is not to low to the ground. The river boat is why we picked Port Orleans riverside. I know they have buses with lifts he can use. We will be visiting WDW in the last week in January. I have gone to all the transportation sites and all the information I have is the riverboat is available to take downtown. Thanks for any information available.

I don't know if these attachments will work, but they are of the boats at OKW.
The boats at PO are the same, except for the decorations are different.
It does take a while for attachments to be cleared for posting, so they may not show up right away.

Yup, it's all nice and easily accessible. I have heard that in extreme water heights (very high or very low) they may not be able to board wheelchairs, but I've never had this happen to me, nor heard from anyone else who has.

Just one thing to be aware of, when you leave the boat on your return to POR, you will have to make your way out through the dock entrance, as the exit has stairs. This normally isn't a problem, though if there's a queue for the boats, you may have to contend with crowds.

POR is a lovely resort. Have a great trip! :thumbsup2

That can be a problem at WL, but not really at other places. The CMs have a number of ways to deal with things - like making the boat higher by loading the wheelchair first or making the boat lowe by making everyone stay on the boat until the wheelchair is loaded.

Thanks for all the information everyone. He will be very happy knowing the riverboat is wheelchair accessible.

We've even been on a boat where the skipper asked us to move to one side! Rest assured, they do all that they can to accommodate.:)
