Hey- Whatever happened to River Country? I mean I know it is closed, but does anyone know why? I used to love that place, wonder why they would not leave the pool openfor Ft Wildreness??

If you do a search for River Country on the boards you will find tons of threads about why it closed . Basically it was high maintaince, non heated , and lacked the flashiness of the new water parks. All that said , I wish they would bring it back ..i LOVED River Country

For fun, here's a photo of River Country from my trip a couple weeks ago:

PS - I'm new here - anyone know why this shows up as a link, and not as a photo. Here's the "coding" (but with "<>" instead of "[]" so you can see it)

One of the major reasons was the murky water. Made "guarding" the area a nightmare!

The other main factor was age, it would have needed an entire rehab to be kept on as a viable attraction.

I also recall hearing that River Country had to be closed due to high levels of bacteria in the water.

You have to put the photo out on the community board first, get the address of the photo and then THAT is what you put in the text box for IMG in your message and it will show up.
