Can anyone tell me what happened to River Country? Why iis it closed for good? It was not the greatest - but we had some fun there. It was neat to see Goofy in the water, etc..

It was closed shortly after the travel drop off following 9/11. Apparently Disney considered it a good way to cut back on staff while still offering it's two larger water parks for guests to enjoy.

As far as I know there is no word - no rumors, and certainly nothing official - about when it may reopen. I imagine it would take a pretty big (and regular) surge in attendance for it to come back from the dead.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

It has been maintained. It isn't just sitting there idle and being ignored.

It's to bad. I have heard that this summer the water parks are crowded and close due to capacity. We have yearly passes but haven't been there in 2 months because we would have to get there an hour before opening to get in and get a spot. It would be nice to have River Country open so there would be more options and thin out the other water parks a bit.
