I here threw the Disney Grapevine, that River Country will be opening in the distant future. I here a Night Swim will be included only for Fort Wilderness Guests as well as a New aged Theme??? I would love to have the old swimming hole back...:lmao:

I would'nt count on it. Although it is greatly missed by all Fort Wilderness Guests, thats about it.

Disney is in the business to make money which they do very well, when they do thier budget planning, thier losses are not figured in what is in the Red but how much profit they are loosing. They always make money, just sometimes not as much, and thats what they consider losses.

With that in mind realize that River Country is not a money maker. There are alot of costs in running a water park and because of its size and location and the addition of Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Its appeal is only to a smaller percentage of Disney World Guests.
So as I said I would'nt count on it.

This is only my opinion and hopefully Im wrong, because in my opinion the closing of River Country was one of the biggest disappointments that has happened at the Fort.

There have been blueprints posted before showing a new DVC going into that spot..

This guy's a troll, ignore him. He just joined the boards and that's his one and only post.

Yep heard the same thing. Apparently you pay your fee to swim and they take a picture of the alligator eating you. It is supposed to be a "frameable moment". They are calling it an "adventure excursion". :confused3

I am assuming you are kidding but if you aren't...there was talk about creating a wild west themed DVC resort in the RC area but latest is they are currently scrapping that in favor of doing a DVC next to the GF (which will bring much more money)...

No, they are not opening up River Country.

They do plan on eventually putting a new vacation club in that area, but I also heard rumors that the new GF one is also in the works.

Personally, I agree that a DVC next to GF would sell great since it is on the monorail. It certainly seems like Bay Lake has done very well.

Recently I saw someone had snuck back there and taken pictures of River Country. From the state its in, I don't see River Country EVER reopening. I've also heard rumors that pollution from Bay Lake and Florida swimming regulations played a part, but I think the condition of that property says more than anything that River Country is gone.

If someone finds pictures of its current state, please post the link. I'll see if I can locate them as well.

We are here now staying at WL due to this being a short Birthday trip for our DD, which we were granted extra Pixie Dust, as they upgraded us up from a regular room to a suite and club services!!

But, while here, I went to see a good friend who is in WDW management at FW and he said he could not go into grea detail, but there are some plans for the RC area and it would be a great asset to FW, hinted at there is a chance RC could come back into play, but not as a full on water park like Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. He did mention the rumors of the DVC being built there, but said that is not in the future plans at this time. We talked for a while about the Fort and said there were some good changes coming and hopefully we will see the return of resort specific items soon. This is all I know, I will be back for another few days in October and we are to meet for dinner, so maybe I will have more info then.
