Just looking at room availability at RIV. Studios are practically gone through half of July. Is this normal? How many points are needed there to secure studios? I purchased there with the intent of booking studios, but this is worse than studio availability at CCV. I can only assume this is due to the restrictions:(

I’m not sure what you are looking at. There are a few days sold out for Resort view but full availability on preferred which shows in the Member site and on dvcrentalstore

Resort view studios and duo studios are the first categories to fill at RIV because they are the lowest points and have views of Epcot and fireworks. The 11-month booking period is now early August so it's just owners booking their home resort with their points.

I honestly doubt there have been enough resale contracts sold at RIV to negatively affect the inventory at this time. I would also expect if/when that happens it will be more noticeable under 7-months when owners cannot swap out and there is more competition for direct owners to stay at RIV when trading out from their other home resorts.

I’d also add that when the 11th month booking window was open for late June/early July, it wasn’t crazy in that all were gone by 8:01AM. I was reserving a trip over July 4th and modified through the following week and standard/duos were still available.

Booking Riviera as an owner isn't at all close to the difficulty booking studios at CCV. Riviera is incredibly well balanced with room types. I am assuming your post is referring to Standard/Resort views which typically are first off the shelf. But opening my own dashboard and looking, I havent a clue what the supposed issue is here.

Any impact from restrictions are years and years away, if at all, as there are many members who cannot trade in to balance those that cant trade out.

It is just December and race week SV studios and tower closets that are super hard “need to be up at 8 am” the rest you have a day or so at 11 months.

Resort view studios are bookable at 11 months, but they can go fast---particularly during busier seasons. They are sometimes walked, but often you can fallow the walkers as they move on. For the summer, you often do not need to be there right at 8AM or even on the first day.

It probably has nothing to do with restrictions---at least, not yet---because so few resales exist. It is much more likely due to the fact that there are fewer of them, and they can be a significant difference in points without that drastic of a difference in view. I've got a trip booked for Springtime Surprise next year---I signed up for the run on a lark, and registration was about 8 1/2 months prior to the event. By that time, the resort studios were booked, and the preferred room required about 20% more points, give or take.

I was looking at resort view studios.
There are less of this type of studio (48) and cost less points so obviously they will go first, but studios are still nothing compared to Copper Creek where they are all priced the same and have less overall.

CCV studios = 78
RIV Studios = 186
