Just got back from the ritz in naples and it is beautiful!!! Everything was "my pleasure!" or "hope you have a lovely time. What else can I assist you with?" You can tell they are trained very well. It reminded me of how disney used to be. When it started failing I would say to my husband that that cm didn't have the disney magic. Now unfortunately I am saying that more and more but there are some who are good at certain hotels. But at the ritz, EVERYONE is trained the same so they all say the same pleasantries. We usually go to the GF because you used to get that service and maybe with some it is still there, but I would rather pay a little less money ($249) and feel special. When you know for a fact that anything that is wrong will be completely taken care of , that takes a lot of stress off of you knowing you won't be arguing with the manager and demanding satisfaction. If anyone needs details just let me know! :wave2:

Your sentence.....We usually go to the GF because you used to get that service and maybe with some it is still there, but I would rather pay a little less money ($249) and feel special.... is confusing me. Are you comparing the GF to the Ritz & saying you would rather stay at the Ritz? If so, there is no comparison. The Ritz in Naples is no where near Disney...so if you want to go to Disney, you cannot stay in Naples. I don't mean to sound like I am jumping on you, but your post has me confused.

You're right...it did sound confusing when I reread it. What I meant to say was that we usually stay at the GF because it is so nice but when we stayed at the ritz we realized how much disney has declined in their customer service. Disney used to be trained like the ritz staff are trained. I am sure there are still wonderful cms that have the disney magic but I felt so pampered at the ritz and I have not felt that magic at disney in a long time. So when I am in the mood to be treated like royalty I will go to the ritz. I still like the GF but accept that everything that happens there good or bad may not be taken care of the way the ritz would take care of it. Also we paid 249 at the ritz and the grand is a lot more money but have less customer service/ Go figure///

Now I got ya ;) . I agree, while I still love the Disney Resorts, they are not up to the standards that they use to be. Much of it is due to the fact that they have become so short handed & they are scaling back on things to save money. Tourism is back in full swing & Disney should start adding back the extra CM's. I know many people that work for Disney, in fact, one of my friend's husband is a CM at the GF's concieger in the Sugerloaf bldg. He was telling me that they are sooo short handed, some of the CM's there are working 6 days a week. His wife (my friend) works at AK, she said that there are time that they pull CM's from that park & place them in the MK because they are short handed there. Another of my friends is at Down Town Disney & she told me the same thing about the 6 day work weeks. Disney use to only hire 18+, now they are so short handed & desperate to get people, they are hiring 16+... and honeslty it isn't helping them. They need to offer better wages, better benefits to get back better help. I would say 99% of the CM's that are there, are there because they truly love Disney & it shows. There also comes a point where they are tired & over worked, that is where Disney needs to impove. Where Disney is so much on "guest relations", they need some help on "employee relations", I know that first hand too, I am a former CM. I love Disney, but when I had to choose going away with my family for my son's baseball tournament out of state or working at TDS for 3 days a week, I took my family. I was told by my store manager that I could not have the time off to go with my family. I asked for it in a Feb & the tournament wasn't until July. They had more than enough time to arrange for someome to cover my shifts. Disney (at least that is what my store manger said) would not allow me to take off then. But now back to your topic..yes, I see what you are saying & agree. While Disney is still nice, it isn't the way it use to be :wave2: By the way, I have been told by several people that the Ritz in Naples was out of this world! ...no pun intended :rotfl: I want to try to stay there at some point. It is just under an hour from my house....

Just piping in that the Ritz in Naples is wonderful....Naples, in general, is really super and gorgeous. We've stayed at the Ritz and the Registry Resort...

We enjoyed the ritz very much!!! They put your towels for you on your chair and then come by and offer you an ice cold towel. A woman walked by and passed out complimentary mixed nuts. A waiter came by at least twice an hour to see what he could get us. While all of this costs money, I love the pampering and I only do this once in a while for a treat. Everyone you meet asks you how you are and have a nice day. I remember when disney was like that and you just felt that sense of magic. Hopefully it will come back and thanks for giving me the "heads up" on the situation at disney. That sure explains a lot! I went to the spa and had a manicure and a pedicure. It was wonderful. There is an iced cold pitcher with water and oranges floating in it.They have cucumbers on ice by the jacuzzi. It was a wonderful experience. I used to love going to the GF spa but after going here the gf spa pales in comparison. The room where you get your manicures at the gf is so small it gives me claustrophobia. Especially if they are doing acrylic nails. THe ritz will not do acrylic nails because the odor is so strong. You will have to go for a weekend and see what I mean. The ritz spa in naples is considered one of the best in the country.
Chow... :cool1:
