Rittenhouse Verdict

I have to wonder, among other things, if the outcome would have been the same if the races of Rittenhouse and the victims were switched.

And this is example #4,347 how the media immediately shapes things to fit a narrative, many times regardless of the facts. I doubt this is the only poster unaware that all parties in this situation were white.

There are many, many black shooters that survive after murdering others.
So you admit he was a murderer? I do not think that other black shooters survive is relevant to this situation. There were a lot of angry people with guns, if a black man was shooting, either the police or other vigilantes would have shot him, and they would have been acquitted of the killing because they thought he was a danger, an active shooter.

LOL -- all 3 of the victims who were shot were just as white at Kyle Rittenhouse.

You're correct, don't know what I was thinking-I worded my thoughts wrong! :sad2: In my mind I meant to say the race of Rittenhouse was switched.

I realize this wasn't addressed to me and I can't speak to whether he should be legally guilty of anything however there's just something that doesn't sit right with me that he isn't guilty of something.
He is guilty of stupidity for sure. But they found him not guilty on everything he was charged with. Maybe there was some small lesser charge they could have got him on, but the prosecutor didn't charge him and they can't find him guilty of something he wasn't charged with

There were five victims in this case. I don't know about the journalist who was apparently a bystander, but all four of the other victims had criminal records of varying levels of seriousness.

Rosenbaum, the person who chased Rittenhouse and was the first to be shot, had done some serious prison time for child molesting. He had also just been released that same day from an involuntary mental health confinement, apparently because he attempted (or threatened) to take his own life.

Their criminal and/or mental health backgrounds, however, are irrelevant to the case and were not revealed to the jury.
And to your bolding, I understand that but I’m not going to be wringing my hands that these guys were killed

Where exactly do you get your news or information?

I acknowledged and corrected myself after realizing how much I misspoke. I believe I confused this case and the Arbery trial in my mind. I was reading about both when I posted. But no excuse for myself with that one. My mistake fully.

Federal charges have been filed after acquittals. Remember the Rodney King trials?

Ok sign? Just a coincidence he was drinking (under age, while on bail) with the Proud Boys.

LOL
Those were police officers so it was a civil right violation. Not private citizens.

Again, I'm going to guess that every single juror knew regardless of if it was brought up in trial and you can't unknow a thing even if you want to.

ummmmmmm......

I haven't been paying close enough attention to say it with confidence but it seems like this was the case. It seems like the prosecution bungled what should have been a case for lesser charges and went for the home run even though it may not have been warranted.

That's fine, but it's important that we all remember certain fundamental things -- like nobody is guilty until convicted beyond a reasonable doubt, prior criminal history is irrelevant until sentencing if applicable, accused persons are not required to testify against themselves, etc, etc.

Watching the actual trial vs. the mass media spin on the KR case, there are just no words there. The jury made the right decision in this case given the facts and evidence presented.

Yet would like to add, it's why we as parents are constantly pounding in our teens heads that decisions can have consequences that are life changing, life altering, and even life ending for yourself and even others. As parents, our minor teens wouldn't of never been in a HOT zone to begin with. It's ultimately a parenting fail. Case in point, a mother that went viral on TV for pulling her minor son from the riot crowd and beating him on live TV to go home. Just about everyone from all sides was stating Mother of the Year right there. Ultimately all of this was preventable if KR mother prevented him to go in the first place. Common sense was severely lacking here.
I don’t disagree with your sentiment, but some people would call the “hot zone” a “free speech zone”. That people have a right to assembly and not be put under a curfew (or “lockdown”) when they disagree with the government. That Kyle was able to walk around a weapon and not be considered threatening, even after firing, is turtle sad.
Which counts do you think he should have been convicted of, and why?

Here are the charges. The bold and regular text are cut/paste from CNN, with their commentary deleted; the italicized comments are mine to fill in some of the facts of each incident.

Count 1: First-degree reckless homicide, use of a dangerous weapon
Count 1 states Rittenhouse recklessly caused the death of 36-year-old Joseph Rosenbaum under circumstances that showed utter disregard for human life.

Video presented by the prosecution shows Rosenbaum chasing Rittenhouse on foot, all the way across a car dealership parking lot, eventually catching up to him among several parked cars. Rittenhouse shot Rosenbaum four times.

Count 2: First-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon
Count 2 states Rittenhouse recklessly endangered the safety of Richard McGinniss under circumstances that show utter disregard for human life.
McGinniss was a journalist and apparently in the line of fire, but was not injured.

Count 3: First-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon
Count 3 states Rittenhouse recklessly endangered the safety of an unknown male, referred to as "jump kick man" in court, under circumstances that show utter disregard for human life. The man jumped at Rittenhouse at one point, trying to kick him and the teen opened fire.

Rittenhouse had been struck with a skateboard by Anthony Huber, and was laying on the ground when this person tried to kick him in the head. Rittenhouse missed, and this person was not injured. This person also refused to testify in the case.

Count 4: First-degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon

Count 4 states Rittenhouse caused the death of 26-year-old Anthony Huber, with intent to kill him.

Huber struck Rittenhouse with a skateboard, which knocked Rittenhouse down and caused Huber to drop the skateboard. After the above victim tried to kick Rittenhouse, Huber picked up the skateboard and tried to hit Rittenhouse again and Rittenhouse then shot him one time.

Count 5: Attempted first-degree intentional homicide, use of a weapon

Count 5 states Rittenhouse attempted to cause the death of 27-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz, with intent to kill him.

After shooting Huber, Rittenhouse testified, he saw Grosskreutz lunge at him and point a pistol at his head. Rittenhouse shot him, he testified. Grosskreutz was wounded.

In his testimony, Grosskreutz said he approached Rittenhouse with a handgun in his hand but with his hands up. He testified he then pointed the handgun at Rittenhouse's head, and Rittenhouse then shot him once, striking him in the arm.
#2 and #3
Well unless you listen to the Prosecuter who thinks it’s ok to be beat with a skateboard. Everyone fights. Take your beating like a man. Unbelievable.
We don’t even know the dead mans name, just that he saw an active shooter and tried to disarm him with a skateboard. It’s all so pathetic and sad.

He’s a piece of trash. He had no business being there and should have been found guilty. However it makes it easy to spot the ignorant friends on fb so I can just unfriend.
Ignorance isn't a crime tho. They can't find him guitly of ignorance. Just because we disagree with an action does not make it a crime.
