dh ruined my maroon AK top. splashed bleach and now there is this streak across the front. Will Rit cover this up? thanks

I want to know as well! I have the same problem with a top I bought at the WL and it is my favorite shirt. I wear it at home but can't go out in public looking like a laundry mishap.

I'd probably bleach the whole thing out and then use the RIT. I've ruined a lot of clothes with bleach and haircolor.

You could always try tie dyeing it with bleach, then it would look like it's supposed to look that way???

Depending on what the material is, go to www.dharmatrading.com/ and get one of the professional dyes & fixatives made for your material. These are the dyes that artists use who sell at craft fairs & boutiques that sell handmade clothing, etc.

In comparison, Rit dye just leaves a pasty cast to your clothes.

My experience with Rit dye has NOT been good...I would go to the craft dept or a craft store and buy the tie dye kit (or individual packages) that have soda ash with them...they tend to provide a more vibrant, even color and do not tend to bleed or fade as bad as Rit...I have tie dyed dozens of shirts with my two Girl Scout troops and we have had wonderful results with the dye with soda ash...I am with some of the previous posters though, I would bleach the entire shirt and start over...you will never match the exact color.

Good luck!!
