Rise of the Resistance

Read on the Disney food blog yesterday that you can now be anywhere in the parks for the 1pm attempt to get a boarding group. Will still need to have 'tagged' in at DHS sometime that day prior to 1pm to be eligible.

It was always that way, but for some reason, several bloggers mentioned it yesterday.

You have to have your park pass reservation for Hollywood Studios and tap in before 1, but if you have an offsite adr or need a break before 1, you can get your boarding group from anywhere.

The system has never kept track of you leaving the park, so it would have no clue you weren't there at the 1pm bg drop.

The Disney website shares that you must be in the park, so this information was news to me, and may be to others that are going for their first or first time in a while.... Thankful for all you experts and the wisdom you are able to share! Makes planning for newbies or those that haven't been in a while much easier. Thank you :)

Yeah, it's odd they're so specific. However, ever since boarding groups were introduced, many people have tried and reported back success that they were able to scan in, then head to breakfast or over to Epcot - pre covid when you could hop anywhere at anytime - and we're successful at getting the boarding group.

But like you said, not everyone knows, so even if the bloggers reshare info, it can certainly be helpful.

Right at 7am, click Join, Join, Join (at least this is what it was on my iphone 11). Don't stop to read anything else on the screen, just click Join on each new screen as fast as you can.
Make sure you don't have any notifications set up on your phone that send you a reminder at 7am. I have an app on my phone that sends me a reminder at 7am everyday that I forgot to turn off. Thank-goodness my DH was able to get our BG's that day!

When I say right at 7am, I really mean right at 7am. The second your phone clock turns to 7am. Not 10 - 15 seconds later. By that time, you are too late.

Before your HS day, make sure everyone in your party has a ticket and a park reservation for HS and they are linked in MDE. This way, when you go to join, the system should automatically select everyone in your party.

Good luck!!
On the last page, were it gives you your boarding group number, at the bottom of the page is the word "DONE" in blue. Do you push DONE? Or leave it alone. I'd hate to get a boarding pass & loose it because I made a mistake at the very end. I leave for my trip in a few days. Please advise.

Lots of groups have had multiple people all signed into the same account to get a boarding group. It’s usually better in case phones freeze up.

However if you have an issue and need to talk to guest services, Don’t mention multiple devices. They here that and tell you it’s your own fault and stop helping. Disney claims it’s an issue but it’s really not.

They tell people this because it makes *their* life easier. Not that it is better for you. Disney has to handle everyone trying for a BG at the same time. If only one person in each group tried than there would be a lot less people trying.

Teach them how to get a BG and have them practice a few times. Teenagers are usually the ones who get the BG when several family members are trying.

As well as what has been mentioned:
- Close every single app on your phone (double-click home button then swipe up on every app);
- Power off your phone and restart;
- Log out of MDE then back in again
And the key is PRACTICE. Start practicing a couple of weeks ahead of time.

Once your BG is called, how long do you have to get in the attraction?
Officially, 1 hour. If you have a different reservation, you can typically go to that reservation first, show your receipt and get on as well.

Wow...had 5g on my phone (OKTA SpeedTest >100mbps)...NIST (time.gov) on the other. Refreshed right at 6:59:59. Saw join, hit join, hit join again and....SOLD OUT. All in less than 1 second. That’s really insane. Nothing anyone can do, just posting on here so others absolutely manage their expectations. You should come to WDW with the expectation that you WONT get on Rise. You’ll be disappointed otherwise.

The more park reservations they release the harder it will get. They really need to figure out how to get more people on that ride daily.

The refresh method is slower than waiting at the AT-AT screen. You never know how long it will take your screen to refresh.

I have been wanting to ask that question, so thank you. I see different people use different methods.

We’ve gotten groups 1, 3, and 18 with the AT-AT. I’ve practiced using both. Sometimes with the refresh, it is very slow to refresh and will spin and spin. I’ve never had any issues with the AT-AT in practice or during the real deal. Good luck!
