Has anyone gone to the Rise of the Jack O'Lanterns? The DLR Halloween party prices are a little high for us this year so I was looking around the area for other Halloween activities. We don't want anything too scary (don't know how DD would react) and this looked good. Checked TripAdvisor and it only has 5 reviews (4 good ones). Anyway, has anyone gone? There are 2 locations - Santa Anita Park in Arcadia and Descanso Gardens - is one better than the other?

I haven't gone but know they are also doing it at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park about an hour and a half away from Disneyland. Legoland also has Brick or Treat for the holiday, and Sea World has Spooktacular. Spooktacular is included in the price of admission, Brick or Treat is not.

Hi:
We went to the Descanso Gardens one last year when DD was 6. Its not scary at all but I don't think we will go again. Most of the pumpkins are foam which wasn't that big of deal for us but some people were disappoints. It took us maybe around 30 minutes to see the whole thing and that was really dragging it out. I think you could see everything in about 15 minutes. My daughter got bored fairly quickly b/c most of the pumpkins are carvings of famous people like the Kardashians and other reality people whom she didn't know. Also there were so many people it was hard for small children to even see the pumpkins that well. Anywhere you stepped you would instantly be in someone else's photo too. That got old really quick. I would do it if you don't have to drive to far and have reasonable expectations but in my opinion it wasn't that great, especially for small kids.

Thanks for the info! Maybe we will skip it and do the Observatory that night.
