Rise boarding groups gone at 7am on Tuesday :(

Opinion Alert: The idea that people are getting up before 7am (or pausing their day at 12pm) just to play a game of securing a BG they have no intention of using…..color me skeptical!

Opinion alert: I think the whole boarding group thing is unfair to full rate paying tourists (I am local with a Dream Key FYI).
1. A local person can sit at home connected to super-fast internet. Even if a tourist is connected to hotel or restaurant wifi it is often slow wifi.
2. Locals have much practice at getting on a boarding group.

This system has "gamified" getting a RSR ride, so many go for just to see if they can snag one.

If it were up to me (which of course it's not) I'd say when you buy a three day park hooper you get an automatic ticket to ride RSR and passholders would get one a month or something like that. I think about all those grandparents who aren't able to ride with their grandkids (after paying full rate) because they are slow on draw and have slower reflexes.

Wow. Just wow. That's terrible if people have really turned to hogging up boarding groups for fun.:(

However that could be a lucrative market! If Genie+ doesn't launch before we're there, I'd gladly pay someone local with a fast connection and expertise to snag my fam the BG options! Stress-free vacay! Whoo-hoo!:rotfl:

You can’t try for a boarding group at 7am unless you have a reservation for DL for that day. You cannot try for a noon boarding group unless you have scanned into your first park for the day. Seeing that passholders are penalized for not showing up for the day, I agree that it is highly doubtful anyone is trying to get a reservation with no intention of going.

Having someone try from home is genius! We have a Disneyland reservation for tomorrow morning, but will be on a plane at 7 am.
My niece and her husband will try for us from San Francisco (very fast wifi)...

All our tickets are on my acct, so if I just give them my log in info, they confirm our group of 5 and give it a try, correct?
Yes. This is the way to do it. You could go the more complicated route to have them link your tickets to THEIR account, but if you trust them, I think it is far easier to just give them your log in and password. Then they do the steps just as you would. The key, key things are to make sure you are on the right park (DL vs DCA), sign out of the app about 5 minutes prior to 7am and close all other apps on the phone too; sign in a few minutes before 7 in case it glitches or makes you get a code from your email; confirm your party a minute or two before 7am on the Virtual Queue page; have an atomic clock or Apple Watch with a second hand right there, and start mashing the “refresh” button at the bottom of the screen over and over as fast as you can with about 5 seconds until 7am; keep mashing that until it changes to “Join Boarding Group” and don’t even look at that, just keep hitting that button. Then you should get a BG. If more than one person at home can try on more than one phone, that is even better. Have all phones signed into your account simultaneously. Pixie dust and MTFBWY!!!

It's a small detail, but it's worth noting MDE isn't a thing for DLR. MDE is the app for WDW. There's a separate app for DLR just known as the DLR app. Same reason the distinction was always made that MHP was DLR and MNSSHP was WDW. Both Halloween parties, but people using the search function might not get the results they were looking for and it can cause some confusion.

Although ones Disney account works across all of them at least, lol! But you do have to be logged into the correct side of things to link things (can't link DLR tickets if you're logged into MDE instead of the DLR app, for example).

Is the “Refresh” in the iOS app a Pull to Refresh or a button? I have looked for YouTube videos but they are all old enough that I don’t trust them.

Agree, do the button. It magically changes to the “Join Boarding Group” button if you just keep pressing it right around the exact moment of 7am. You don’t have to move your finger, just keep hitting it until you get the BG, hopefully.

Edited to correct this. Always weird that they have an app for each park but name only one of them, etc. Why make it more confusing, Disney??!!??

Because Disney likes to make everything more complicated than necessary, lol!

And thank you! I know it's such a small, nitpicky thing, but I've seen some crazy confusion from people who don't realize there's a difference and would be even more confused than Disney already makes them with all the differences that are just similar enough 😶

Have somebody else’s phone open to the atomic clock so you can count down. By 60 seconds before, be on the “Disneyland Park Virtual queue” tab, the one that now says “our 7am boarding group distribution is complete.” At :59, pull down to refresh. If the blue join button doesn’t appear, do it again. Some people say it’s better to try right at :00.
Good luck!
I used that technique to get a BG to Ratatouille each day I visited Epcot.

I know it’s easy for me to say because we have already ridden (our BG success rate is maybe 75%)…..but be thankful there isn’t a 3 hour standby line to consume your day! The ride is really pretty cool, the first time. After that it’s just a’ight if you get a BG. However, I’ll never wait standby for hours, heck…I wouldn’t even give it 45 minutes….nor will I ever pay ILL$, it’s not worth it. FoP it’s not, IMHO. Bide your time, work the 7am/12pm BGs, you’ll get one over your four days I’d bet. Good luck!

You’re right. It’s not FoP. It’s 1000 times better! 🤣

Eh, to each his or her own!! Heck, first ride I might even find a way to agree with you. I mean, that first time you experience Rise….wow!! Of course I’d say the same about FoP.

Here’s the difference for me though. After that first time, Rise is just ok…..but each time I ride FoP there’s still that same thrilling visceral experience as the first time, with new things to look for throughout every journey. Can’t say that about Rise……no matter how big a Star Wars fan you are!!!! :rolleyes1:P:wave2:

You’re right. To each his/her own. I don’t even think FoP is the best ride at WDW.

Funny because I rode Rise recently and saw some things I never saw before despite riding it a good number of times in the past. Also when I rode in October I got the “other side” for the first time! I had ridden probably 5 or 6 times prior and always on the same size. I didn’t even know there was an “other side” lol! I also though the other side (to be honest I’m not sure if it’s a left right thing?) that I finally got to experience was superior to the side I had experienced all the way through!

Final thought: I rode this ride during the previews when you needed a reservation to get in the land. It was the only time I rode when all ride elements were working. I feel lucky I got to see this because I think they made permanent changes, specifically to the canons, and I don’t think the ride I experienced back then even exists any more.

For the first pre-show, the screens are to the left of Rey in one room and to the right of Rey in the other. They both empty out into the same speeder area. I think there's also barely noticeable differences in the interrogation rooms but they all dump you onto the same track. The main differences in the ride are determined by if you are in the front vehicle or the back. That determines if you are on the left or right for the various showrooms. I haven't figured out how they determine which of the four elevators/drops you get in the end but it may be a capacity thing because I seem to get the front two more often. Also, if you go early in the day, your ride is usually longer because later on in the day, they tend to show trimmed versions of the pre-show, interrogation and resistance breakout briefing to increase throughput.

That is so interesting!
